We send the newsletter via email to all that notify us. See WM Dan or Sec Paul if you can ring the bells for the Salvation Army BY PERMISSION OF M.W. GR. LODGE A.F. & A.M. OF MINNESOTA Greetings from the East! It's that time again, get ready to vote! On our December 8th meeting we will be voting for your favorite officers. As per tradition, this will be followed by that rare delicacy prepared by AD Chuck, his famous oyster stew! Come and join us for a great meal with some good old fashion fellowship. Congratulations to all our new Master Masons who attended the Big Tent event on November 15. This is an outstanding way to welcome you fully into masonry with so many brothers from all around the state. Please join us as we honor and offer our thanks to all the great work AD Chuck Brust has done for our lodge. We will present him our highest honor of the Hiram award. The date is Friday, November 21st, 2014 with the social from 6:00 pm and supper at 7:00 pm. Place is the Hubbell House in Mantorville, MN. Please consider volunteering as a Mason for Salvation Army Bell Ringing! All monies dropped into the bucket will be matched by the Minnesota Masonic Charities (MMC). Remember that the statistical research results are in, and you can make a difference: when the bells are being rung by individuals more money is dropped into the buckets. It is my will and pleasure that we fill each 2 hours lot with at least two Masons. Let me know(call or email) which slot or slots. More information to come! It feels like Christmas already with so many blessing and new items for the lodge. A list of some of the fun is: • Large screen HDTV and dishwasher in our lodge room donated by Brother Kurt Walleser • New Officer aprons on the way thanks to one $5000 donation and additional donations to fill in the need. Thanks AD Chuck Brust for researching and gathering bids. • New dishwasher in the dining room thanks WB Rich Pavek for researching, ordering and coordinating the installation • Projector and new screen installed in the dining room - courtesy of your Worshipful Master and thanks WB Craig for the plywood to mount it on • Windows 7 computer systems for the office and the lodge room • Printer and copier for the lodge office • Pancake dispensers - courtesy of your Worshipful Master • Paper and soap dispenses for the restrooms - Thanks WB Rich Pavek • and more... • Let us not forget our greatest blessing, that of you, my brother and your family. The items above are only tools for our brothers to use like the gavel that molds that rough ashlars into perfect ashlars, ready for the builders use. Without you, your fellowship and brotherly love, all this would be for not. Thank you for being a Mason and sharing life's journey with us. If you have any questions, or neat ideas please contact me through the Secretary, or [email protected] or 507-250-5591. Upon the square, Daniel Nash Scottish Rite Greetings Brothers! By the time you read this, our class will have passed through the work of the 14th degree. In January, we will move on to the degrees of the chapter of Rose Croix, with the 18th degree being presented at the February meeting. In the interim, as noted in last monthʼs column, we will have a national speaker in December - WB Robert Davis, 33° is a well-known Masonic researcher and author, and is the Secretary of the Valley of Guthrie, Oklahoma. He will be speaking on the history and origins of our Scottish Rite degrees, and how they evolved into the degrees we know today. The date for this event will be the evening of December 6th, and this will take the place of our December meeting. The dinner will be held at the Elizabethan Room of the Kahler Hotel in Rochester, with a social hour at 6pm and dinner at 7. RSVPʼs for $40 each need to be sent to Brother Carey Boyum, www.se-mn-masons.org 67982 260th Ave., Kasson MN 55944. Your check is your reservation for this event. We plan to invite brothers from around the state and surrounding area to join us for the festivities, so get your reservation in early - space is limited! More details on this event appear in the ad elsewhere in this newsletter. Please note that this event is open to all Master Masons, however spouses are not included due to the content of the presentation. I look forward to seeing many of you in the months to come. Fraternally, Chuck Brust, Venerable Master SCOTTISH RITE SECRETARYʼS CORNER “Class #199” Our 14th degree cast and crew will again be putting in the extra effort by performing this degree in the Mankato Lodge. Chef Paul will be using his own culinary skills to provide us with his awesome BBQ pork & beef delights at NOON on Saturday – November 1st. See you there! “Save this date NOW” Saturday - December 6th @ 6 PM More news to follow. “Membership Renewal Update” You should soon be receiving your notice for the 2015 RENEWAL as I was advised they are in the mail. It would be very helpful if everyone paid them ASAP before end of year. I would like to point out that there are at least 110 of your Brothers that are delinquent. Collection of dues consumes 75% of my time and really makes my job more difficult. PLEASE HELP ME OUT – THANKS Once again, for those of you using credit cards, please use “renew.scottishrite.org” on your browser or send info to me on renewal card for completion. Supper 6:00 PM at the Canadian Honker Restaurant News from the Masonic Temple Association The Board met on Oct 13th at 5:30pm. The old copy machine and broken dishwasher from upstairs kitchen have been disposed of thank you to brother Kurt Walleser. Brother Walleser has also been very generous and donated a new TV for the Club room and installed a new dishwasher in the kitchen. The downstairsʼ dining room now also has a projector and wall screen for renters and bodies to use which should add value to our facility. Thank you to WB Nash for donating that and setting it up. The front lighting has been fixed and looks much brighter and will save us money on electrical cost. We got the curb improvement bill from the City for the 2nd St project and will begin paying that off starting in November. The Kitchen is missing several of the big baking sheets, weʼve gone from 8 down to only 1, so if you have borrowed them, please return them as soon as possible. As a reminder the temple does not allow anything to be removed from the temple without permission. Just because you have a key does not mean you can borrow items at will from the building. Also if you have towels, or aprons or anything else you took home to wash, please bring those back. We plan on doing an inventory to see what we have in the kitchen. Upon the Square, Bill Cleveland President Temple Board Assoc. Order of the Eastern Star Greetings Sisters and Brothers, I hope everyone is enjoying the fall weather since we know what will soon follow! There is nothing like the warm days followed by cool crisp nights. It is time to enjoy fall colors, wear- ing your favorite sweatshirt, curling up with a great book or enjoying comfort foods that seem to fit the season perfectly. We welcomed fall by wearing camouflage to our October 7 meeting. We discussed our upcoming Events which will include serving the Feast of Tishri for the Scottish Rite and a supper for the Kiwanis. We are working on the details for decorating a tree for the Festival of Trees in November. We have also chosen to put together a basket of family heritage items for the Masonic Cancer Dance on November 1. I hope to see many of you there! It is a night filled with fun, food and fellowship all to raise money for the Masonic Cancer Center. We have been asked to participate in 2 of our MN Grand Chapter projects. The first project continues from last year and is a fleece blanket project. We would get together to tie blankets ( no sewing experience needed) which would then be distributed to the Masonic home. I am looking for someone who would take charge of the project. this would definitely give us time to have fun and do something worthwhile. The next project involves collecting new and gently used DVD's for the Masonic Cancer Center. We will be putting signs up at the Masonic Temple along with a collection vessel so DVD's can be dropped off at any time. The last thing I would like to mention is regarding the kitchen in the basement of the Masonic Temple. We have noticed several missing or worn out items from the kitchen along with the need for more pots, pans and utensils that are needed to prepare meals. I have taken on the task of making an inventory of current items along with identifying needed items for the kitchen. We will be having a "Kitchen Shower" to ask for items to be donated to the Masonic Temple for use in the kitchen. Look for a list of these items in a future newsletter. I will be looking for you at our next stated meeting on Tuesday November 4 at 7:30 pm. With Star Love Cindy Saunders, Worthy Matron One of the most important meetings of the year is ELECTION NIGHT.
