Nancy and I started with our Concours in March and then to the Jaguar Owners Club in Fullerton, Ca., the Inland Empire Concours in Fallbrook, Ca. and the Southern Arizona Jaguar Club Concours in Tucson. We missed San Diego and the Western States Meet in Colorado. They were all terrific events and all brought out old as well as new exhibitors and plenty of spectators. The interest in Jaguars with their new and sportier designs is definitely growing. Now we move into the holiday season with Thanksgiving and Christmas with our annual party. Next the new year with the 2nd annual Arizona Concours prior to auction week here in the valley. Finally our AGM where we install the new officers and plan activities for the new year. Speaking of the Christmas Party, I think this year it is going to be spectacular. Claudia & Rigo and Nancy & I went to the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort's "Pointe In Tyme" restaurant and finalized plans for the event. Three great dinner choices that you can order at the table. The club is going to provide the hors d'oeuvres and we will have our own cash bar. The cost is $50.00 per person paid in advance or $60.00 at the door night of the event. Send checks to our treasurer, Joe Capano, 25011 S. Lakestar Dr. Sun Lakes, Az.85248. If you want to spend the night at the hotel and not risk the possibility of getting a " DUI " there is a special rate for JCCA of $90.00,you must make reservations with the hotel by 11/15/2014. On November 15 we are going on a breakfast run as guests, for the first 15 cars to register, of Jaguar North Scottsdale to a restaurant in Prescott, Az. The restaurant is opening specifically for us and we can have either breakfast or lunch. We will meet at the Penske Racing Museum 8:00 A M, register and receive a "goody bag" tour the museum and leave at 8:30 A M. They & manager, Bobby Perich, want to become more involved with our club. I think this is a great step forward. We want to do more driving tours in 2015. If anyone has any ideas please don't be bashful. Come to a meeting or send me an e-mail and let us know. It can be a one day tour or a one or two day overnight tour. Let's have fun with our Cat's in 2015, after all that is what they are for! Our next meeting is Wednesday November 5th. at Chompie's Deli, 9301 E. Shea Blvd, Scottsdale, Az. 6:00 PM. We also need an after dinner speaker for the Christmas Party. If you know of someone who can speak, we'll pay for their dinner. Reprinted by permission. Milan, Italy -- Like other mega-automakers today, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) conglomerate is focused on significantly expanding its worldwide sales. How serious are they? Serious enough about raising capital to sell 10 percent of Ferrari, of which FCA currently owns 90%. Incidentally, Ferrari value estimates are as high as $12 billion to $15 billion. But the plan doesn't stop there. Ferrari's new boss, Fiat Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne (who recently replaced longstanding Ferrari chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo) has reportedly floated the concept of likewise raising Ferrari's annual production ceiling from about 7000 units to somewhere closer to 10,000 units. Despite its low production compared to giant multinational car companies, Ferrari's influence is felt everywhere, as FCA stock reportedly took an 18% bounce after news of the upcoming IPO broke. With Ferrari shares expected to be formally valued in mid-year 2015, the drama can only build from here. From the web: Want a more fuel efficient car? Reprinted by permission. Las Vegas, NV -- BarrettJackson had a record-setting 7th Las Vegas Auction Sept. 25-26 at the Mandalay Bay Event Center here, culling $33.4 million in sales via 705 automotive lots (its largest consignment to date in Vegas) and 339 pieces of automobilia crossing the block. Nearly all the vehicles were sold in B-J's customary no-reserve format. That was up 5.5% from last year's $31.6 million total from 661 lots sold, albeit the average sale price dropped slightly to $47K from $48K. Remember this is an entirely different auction from the record-setting Monterey sales; here it's volume over voluptuous, with much more accessible inventory for the mainstream collector. Mostly muscle cars, American classic iron and a bevy of European sports cars, and a noticeable number of Toyota FJ40 Land Cruisers at no reserve made for some happy winning bidders. This 1963 Corvette Z06 ran at Riverside in '63 and was featured in the Elvis Presley film "Viva Las Vegas." It failed to meet the reserve at a high bid of $330,000 (photo: courtesy of Barrett-Jackson) Ford Fusion race car ($100K). The Las Vegas sale also marked the end of the company's 18-year link with the Fox networks/Speed Channel, which put B-J on the map via lengthy live coverage of its signature Scottsdale auction every The crowded sale enjoyed Vegas' typical high-energy January. Beginning at next year's Scottsdale sale, Discovery networks' auto-centric Velocity channel atmosphere and a contingent of local and motoring will broadcast more than 100 hours of coverage from celebrities, including crooner Wayne Newton, Penn Jillette from Penn & Teller, NASCAR legend Richard Barrett-Jackson's Scottsdale, West Palm Beach, Reno and Las Vegas auctions.
