Club Update and News
FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK
By Phil Parker
Hello Everyone:
Time flies when you are having fun, a month ago Nancy and I were
on our way to Europe, now that seems a distant memory. We had a
great time but with the exchange rate things can get very expensive.
I want to thank Neil Cooper for doing a great some of chairing our September meeting. Now
I have to get back to the business of JCCA. Our next big event is the Christmas party and I
think everything is in order for a terrific event. The next Concours in our area is the JCSA
event in Tucson. The Windmill Inn is undergoing renovation so the hotel location has been
changed to Embassy Suites 3110 E. Skyline Dr. Tucson, Az. It is about a 10 minute drive
from the show location which will be the same as a year ago, St. Phillips Plaza. This is a
great event, Friday evening a cocktail party on the patio at the Embassy Suites. This is also a
Halloween Party, costumes are encouraged but optional. This is a hoot!
Before the year is out I would like to have a driving tour. At a past meeting we talked about
going for an overnight in Greer. I don't think anything has been arranged so we will plan it at
our Wed. meeting.
Last weekend Nancy and I, Bob and Lynn Brown and Robert and Debbie Bronstein went
over to Fallbrook, Ca. The Inland Empire Club combined with the English Motors' at
Fairbrook to put on a great Concours on the grounds of Fairbrook Farms, which is a Hunter
and Jumper horse facility. The venue was beautiful as this is great horse country. Bob and
Lynn Brown took first in class with their Mark II as did Phil and Nancy with their XJ6 VDP
and Robert and Debbie took 2nd. with their 2005 XK8. Hope to have pictures in the next
issue.
It is interesting going to other clubs to see how they do their Concours. I must say, we stack
up well against the competition. Inland Empire had about 40-45 judged and display. English
Motors had about 75 cars of which 14 were Jaguars from the Inland Empire club. The venue
was beautiful, the weather was nice but not a lot of spectators.
Our next meeting is at Chompies in Scottsdale, hope to see you there.
Keep those Cats on the Road,
Phil Parker, President

Sir Stirling Moss Designated AZ Concours' Honored Guest
© 2014 Vintage Motorsport magazine. Reprinted by permission.
Phoenix, AZ -- Auto racing legend Sir
Stirling Moss will be an honored guest
at the 2nd annual Arizona Concours
d'Elegance at the historic Arizona
Biltmore resort on Sunday, Jan. 11,
2015. Moss will attend the intimate
concours with his wife Lady Susie
Moss, offering entrants and attendees
the chance to meet him among the 80
select vintage automobiles that will be
on display on the landscaped grounds
of the Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired
Biltmore.
Coincidentally, the resort, which
opened in 1929, is the same age as Moss, who
celebrated his 85th birthday last week, Sept. 17.
The active octogenarian travels the globe as an
ambassador for historic motorsport, and in just the
past month alone he's been a celebrity guest at the
Rolex Monterey Motorsport Reunion in California,
Lime Rock Park's Vintage 32 historic races in
Connecticut, and shuttled from there to the Goodwood
Revival in the U.K. A veritable rock star of racing,
Moss is gracious and generous with his fans, signing
some 1,000 autographs over four days at Lime Rock.

Italian public roads. Not surprisingly, Moss now
spends much of his travels as a brand ambassador for
Mercedes-Benz Classic.
The Arizona Concours d'Elegance set a high bar with
last year's inaugural event, which earned rave reviews
for its car quality and intimate yet glamorous setting.
It serves as the launchpad of Arizona auction week,
and benefits the charitiy Make-A-Wish Arizona.

HSR Adopts Racing For Kids As Official Charity
© 2014 Vintage Motorsport magazine. Reprinted by permission.
Clearwater, FL -- Historic Sportscar Racing has
announced Racing For Kids as its Official Charity.
"Vintage racing brings cars of the past to life and we
look forward to sharing our passion for this form of
motorsports in a way that will encourage support for
the Racing For Kids program," said HSR President
David Hinton.
HSR is a family-focused organization, with husbands
and wives, fathers and sons, fathers and daughters,
grandparents and even great-grandparents all racing
together. Prior to the recent Mid-Ohio event on
September 19-21, some of these same HSR drivers,
along with HSR staff members, made a visit to the
Akron Childrens Hospital with Racing For Kids.

and racetrack visits, as the organization hosts
outpatient children and their families at historic
racetracks like Daytona International Speedway,
Sebring International Raceway, Road Atlanta and Mid
-Ohio Sports Car Course.
"Everyone at Racing For Kids is very excited about
our new partnership with HSR," said Robbie Buhl,
former IndyCar racer and national spokesperson for
Racing For Kids. "Visiting sick and hospitalized
children is at the core of what we do and so whenever
we can bring a new team of drivers into our mission
that helps us expand our reach to even more kids.
Being the Official Charity of HSR is a very special
honor and we are very gratified to be chosen."
Racing For Kids is a Detroit-based national charity
that uses the popularity of motorsports to focus public
awareness and funding on the health care needs of
children. Founded in 1989, Racing For Kids is
celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2014 and has
visited more than 27,000 children in more than 525
children's hospitals in the United States, Brazil,
Canada, Mexico, Japan and Australia. It has raised
nearly $6 million for the hospitals visited and other
children's health institutions.
