New School Logo
After months of discussion with the children, staff and Governing Council, we will be
launching our new school logo. The decision to change the logo has not been taken
lightly, given it was our 50th birthday this year. However, the children have strongly
supported the changing of the Tree logo as the tree as they knew it no longer exists on
the school grounds. The new logo is a combination of many ideas taken from the
children and the melding of many great designs provided as options to us from one of
our talented parents Claire Lovelock who is a Graphic Designer of Clove Graphics.
The logo will be revealed at the concert tonight for the whole community to see. We
know that for some people losing the old logo will be sad, but we also believe that after
fifty years we are moving forward with a logo that makes Vale Park stand out and
utilises our state as the background. We think the new logo states “We are Vale park
and if you didn't know us before, you will now”.
There is not an expectation that people need to change uniforms in line with the change
of logo, this will be phased in over the next two-three years. Hats will be the first part
of the uniform to change as we have run out of bucket hats and so the new ones will
have the new logo on them.
2015 Materials and Services Charges
The polling process for the 2015 Materials and Services Charge has been completed
with 89% support for the increase of the fees from $370 per child to $380 per child for
the year. Our fees are still amongst the lowest in our area. The M&S fees are used for
the children’s stationery needs (all their consumable books), to purchase library books,
photocopying and art materials. Materials and Services charges do not pay for staff
salaries. We thank parents for their support as we appreciate the difficulties all families
are having with rising costs.
Senior Students Visit to Parliament House
On Wednesday our senior SRC Reps and our Ambassadors were fortunate enough to be
invited to visit parliament House as guests of our local MP Steven Marshall. It was an
amazing experience for the children and they have written a piece in the newsletter or
you all to read. We would also like you to read a tweet that Steven Marshall sent
yesterday that we have put upon our Facebook page.

Parliament House Excursion
On the 5th of November the Ambassadors, Deputy Ambassadors and Year 5-7 SRC Reps went on an
excursion to the South Australian Parliament. The students had a tour with the Opposition Leader
Steven Marshall. Steven showed the students the library, artwork of old South Australian Governors,
the Upper House and the Lower House. He told us some fun facts about Australia’s History. Inside
Parliament House was decorated nicely. We found out how much money was put into the building to
make it look so wonderful. At the end of the tour, the Ambassadors, Deputy Ambassadors, SRC Reps,
Anne, Jo and Danielle thanked Steven Marshall for the tour. It was a great day for the students and we
hope to do another excursion like this again.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL
CHRISTMAS HAMPER APPEAL
Due to last year’s success, Leadership has decided that Vale Park Primary School is once again supporting the St
Vincent de Paul Society’s Christmas Gift Appeal. This initiative will help those who are marginalised and in need
all over Adelaide this festive season. We thank you so much for coordinating this task for your classroom. You may
also kindly consider and share the gift of giving and donate toys for this Christmas gift appeal too.
A note will go home with suggestions for donations that will contribute to this gifts appeal. Boxes will be placed in
each classroom to collect your donations. Collections will finish in week 8, Friday 5th December.
We are really excited about this fantastic opportunity for the families at Vale Park Primary School to help others
who are not as fortunate as ourselves, and to contribute to the wider community this Christmas.
Thank you very much for support!
