NOVEMBER SPONSOR: TRIDIA
Tridia Hospice is your home town hospice located here, on Broad
Street, in Fairborn. Despite all the advances in diagnosis and
treatment, a cure is not always possible. Other times, the burden
of treatment may outweigh the benefits. This is when Tridia
Hospice can help. Some families may be frightened by the word
"hospice", believing that all treatment will be discontinued. Many
types of medical treatment do continue and our team focuses on
the quality of life for your loved one by offering a holistic
approach encompassing physical, emotional, and spiritual care.
The patient and the family are seen as a single unit of care.
Tridia Hospice provides “Person-Centered” care. This means that
the plan of care for each person is based on their individual
needs and customized for each patient’s experience to provide
the best end-of-life possible.

DAY-TRIPS
Miracle on 34th Street. Matinee at La Comedia, December 4th,
10:30am show time. 9:00am arrive at center for transportation to
the theatre. Show, Meal and Transportation: $65.00. Our tickets
are currently sold out. For those of you signed up, please pay immediately at the front desk.
The story of the real Santa Claus, Miracle on 34th Street is one of the most beloved holiday
films of all time, and one of the most popular shows La Comedia has ever produced.
Macy’s thinks it has hired the perfect Santa for the holiday season. However problems
arise when the man named Kris Kringle claims he is the real Santa Claus and tells
customers they can find better deals elsewhere. This touching musical version of the
classic holiday film proves that miracles do happen and is sure to fill both the young and
the young at heart with the Christmas spirit.
DAY-TRIP CANCELATION POLICY AND CONSIDERATIONS
Please notify the Activities Coordinator at least two weeks prior to the event in order to receive a refund. All day-trip
cancelations will incur a $5.00 service charge, unless the cancelation is due to an emergency. If canceled after two weeks
prior to the event, no refund will be given. Limited room on chartered bus trips for walkers and wheelchairs.

CARE COORDINATION
The OSHIIP-certified Care Coordination staff can guide you through the complicated Medicare process.
Before you turn 65 or change an existing Medicare plan, make an appointment to discuss your options. The
staff also directs clients to sources for house and yard work, transportation, personal care, shopping, meals,
and home health care. In addition, they provide crisis intervention for eviction, food, utility shut-off, and
family issues. You might be surprised how they can help you. Reach Care Coordination at: 878-4141,
extension 215. We are in need of volunteers!
MEDICARE OPEN ENROLLMENT begins October 15th and runs through
December 7th. It is time to go over your Medicare Advantage or Drug plans
to see if they are going to continue to cover you as well as they have this
year or if there are changes of coverage or costs to consider. Have they
dropped any of their list of medical providers such as doctors, hospitals or
lab facilities? Are you on Medicare AND Medicaid? If so, it is likely you’ve
been put into MyCare Ohio by the State and have been assigned to a
managed care plan, either Buckeye or Molina. This is all new to some 29
counties in Ohio and Greene County is one of them. It may be very
confusing to unravel all of this and if it is stressful for you please give us a
call and we will try to help you. We will need an appointment made for any
assistance and we will need specific information from you in order to do plan comparisons.
HEAP applications are available here at the center and we have three people to help you fill them out and to
make copies of your originals to send along. This year you may re-verify PIPP Plus along with it at the same
time. So for that you may need a little more information however that is all explained on the application form
itself.

TRANSPORTATION
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Holiday and Bad Weather Reminders:
NO Transportation will be provided on Thursday, November 27, 2014 or Friday, November 28, 2014, as the
Fairborn Senior Center will be CLOSED for the Thanksgiving break. For planning purposes, we will also not be
providing transportation on Thursday, December 25, 2014, or Friday, December 26, 2014 and Thursday
January 1, 2015, as the Fairborn Senior Center will be CLOSED to observe both the Christmas and New
Years holidays.
SPECIAL REMINDER! You are required to provide a clear and safe pathway from your home or apartment out
to the Senior Center’s vehicle pick-up and/or drop-off location, which is normally your street or parking lot.
You must be able to get to and from the vehicle safely. If, when the driver arrives to pick you up, you do not
have a clear and safe pathway, we will immediately cancel your ride and you will need to both cancel your
appointment and then reschedule both your appointment and a ride.
If, at any time or for any reason you feel you must cancel a scheduled pick-up, please call us as soon as
possible to let us know. We may be able to use that time slot for another client. You can call 24 hours per
day and leave a message. If the Senior Center is not open, just enter Extension 216, when prompted by the
Fairborn Senior Center greeting and leave a voice mail telling us to cancel your ride.
Also remember that even though it will be getting cold and miserable outside, we do take our clients on a
space available basis, to all Fairborn and local area businesses (Meijer’s, the Mall at Fairfield Commons and
all the businesses surrounding it, etc.) for shopping or dining in a warm environment. Just give us a call and
see if we have space available. For a ride the next day, you can try right up until 12:30 PM the business day
before the ride.
Thank you for your cooperation and HAPPY HOLIDAYS from your Transportation Services Staff: Jim Adams,
Charlotte Brady, Gary Agnor, Bob Naragon, and all of our Fantastic Volunteer Drivers.
Jim Adams and Charlotte Brady, Transportation Coordinators

HEALTH, SUPPORT AND LEGAL ADVICE
The Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group meets the
third Wednesday at noon, here at the Fairborn Senior
Center. November 19th.
Coffee and Conversation. Just need to talk it
out? Come share some Coffee & Conversation with
Ciela Ledbetter-Guckian of the Hospice of the Miami
Valley. We all experience grief when we lose
something of value to us. Retirement, down-sizing,
loss of a pet, disabilities, death of a loved one and
many other losses bring on a variety of emotions and
physical reactions. It is healing and helpful to have
others to talk things through with. You are not
alone. Hope to see you on the 2nd Tuesday of the
month at 1:00 pm. November 11th.
Free Hearing Aid Clinic, provided by Fairborn
Hearing Aid Center, 209 West Main Street, on the
third Friday from 9:00am to noon, November 21st.
Please Call or sign up at the desk beforehand.
Attorney David J. Cusack from Beavercreek hosts
the Legal Hour on the 4th Tuesday of the month,
except for the months of November and December.
Join him again in January for such topics as:
“Probate vs. Non-Probate Property”, health care
advance directives in Ohio, trusts, probate and
estate planning, administration and taxes.
The R.A.P. (Relative as Parents) group, designed for
grandparents raising grandkids and other kinship
caregivers, meets the second Tuesday of the month,
10:00am at the Faith Community United Methodist

Cross-stitch Stitch-in
Genealogy
November 11th at 10:30am.
The Light Between Oceans by M. L.
Stedman takes place on a remote
Australian island in the years following
World War I, where a lighthouse keeper
and his wife are faced with a moral
dilemma when a boat washes ashore
with a dead man and a 2-month-old
infant. When they decide to raise the
child as their own, the consequences of
their choice are devastating.
November 5th at 6:30pm. The
Cross-stitch group meets the second
Wednesday of the month in the
evening. Bring your project. If you don’t
know how to cross-stitch, someone
with experience will happily share
instruction in the craft.
November 11th at 2:00pm.
Let’s Talk Genealogy: The
Genealogy Group meets the second
Tuesday of the month at 2pm.
Topics of interest are discussed
each month and the development
of the groups research is often
covered. Newcomers to genealogy
have many ways to research. The
group will be glad to help with tips
and resources for starting your
research.
