As we prepare to enter the holiday season, we will continue to
provide amazing events for everyone to enjoy. This month we have various
events that we know you will love. Take a look at our November calendar &
event flyers, starting at page 8.
Daylight savings ends on Sunday, November 2nd. Remember to set
your clock back one hour and enjoy an extra hour of sleep. As it is getting
dark earlier, please take caution driving throughout our community and
remember the speed limit is 25 mph on the sub-streets and 35mph down The
Boulevard.

We started off the month with the very popular Kid’s PJ Party. The
Halloween magic show was extremely fun and the kids enjoyed the entire
night. Our magician ended the night by providing all of the kids with a
custom balloon animal or object. The kids walked away with creation
including crowns, tigers, dogs, and much more. Look out for our many
upcoming kid’s events in November and December!
The Over 50’s Meet & Greet: Game Night Edition proved to be a hit.
Our residents loved the idea of adding a twist to our usual meet & greet
night. Residents enjoyed many games, including playing cards and
charades. The next Over 50’s Meet & Greet will be a Thanksgiving event,
featuring a provided ham and turkey. Please bring a side dish and/or
dessert to share. This event is on Friday, November 14th at 6:30pm.
The Fall Festival was extremely successful. We had nearly 500
attendees! Everyone enjoyed the live music provided by Kim Betts & the
Gamble Creek Band, Big John’s Texas BBQ Food Truck, the fun inflatables,
and rock climbing wall! We look forward to next year’s event!

Awareness Month & our Zumba class
supported the entire month by wearing
P I N K to every class! Our Zumba class
meets every Thursday at 7pm.
Oktoberfest was a blast. Sixty-eight residents
enjoyed a yummy Oktoberfest inspired dinner and
fun trivia. Trivia winners went home with a prize as
well!

Hello Harrison Ranch Residents,
In my letter this month there are two main topics I would
like to address. The first one is the upcoming election of resident
Board Supervisors. This year marks the first General Election for Harrison Ranch, so I’m sure there is some confusion as to how it works.
Candidates running for office have been qualified with the Supervisor of Elections of Manatee County, and their names will be appearing on the ballot when you go to the polls to vote on Election Day in
November. The CDD does not conduct its own vote for these Board
Supervisor seats, everything is done the same way that you would
vote for any other public official. If there are any issues or if you
have any questions, please contact your local Supervisor of Elections office.
The second item is the Assessment Refund checks. Earlier in
the year, the CDD Board adopted a resolution that approved the refunding of special assessment overpayments in previous years. For
anyone who owned property within the District and paid CDD assessments between the fiscal years of 2008-2012, you should be receiving a refund check soon, if you haven’t already. The amount refunded depends on the length of time you owned the property and
the amount of assessments that were originally paid.
Finally, one last note to mention is that the pool resurfacing
will commence on October 27. The pool will be closed until approximately December 15 due to the repairs.

Kitchen care for the holiday season!
Disposal
The food disposal unit in the kitchen helps make cooking and cleaning easier.
Care and Maintenance
Follow these care and maintenance suggestions for the disposal in your home.
To Use the Disposal Correctly






Run the cold water, and then turn the disposal on before depositing food into it. Don’t deposit
foods into an inactivated disposal and then turn the unit on.
Run cold water while the disposal is running.
Running cold water helps to solidify any grease in the disposal so it can be chopped up and moved
out with the remainder of the foods.
Insert foods loosely into the disposal. If you pack in too much at once, you can jam the disposal.
Keep the disposal running for at least 15seconds after the noise of grinding has stopped to flush all
food particles through the drain line.
Make sure all small objects are removed from the sudsy water before you drain the sink.
If You Have a Continuous-Feed Disposal
Move silverware and other small items away from the edge of the sink to avoid accidentally knocking
them in while the disposal is running.
To Use the Disposal Safely




With a continuous-feed model, use the cover as directed to protect yourself when grinding bones
or fruit pits – the force of the disposal action
could eject small particles. Avoid leaning over the disposal if you are feeding waste into it while it
is running.
To avoid damage to the motor, all disposals have overload protectors. If the disposal should stall,
turn off the disposal and the cold water. Retrieve the article causing the problem. Press the reset
button on the disposal. If it won’t stay in, wait a few minutes and try again. If the disposal won’t
start when you turn the switch on, check your
electrical panel box for a tripped circuit breaker, and reset as necessary.
What You Can’t Put Into the Disposal





Follow the directions in the manufacturer’s manual regarding what shouldn’t be put through the
disposal.
Don’t grind large bones or fibrous materials, such as corn husks, artichokes, etc.
Don’t pour grease or fat down the disposal.
Pour liquid fat into a jar or can, and then solidify it in the refrigerator.
Dispose of the jar or can in the trash.

Dishwasher
With proper use and maintenance, the dishwasher in your kitchen will clean dishes effectively and conveniently.
Care and Maintenance
Follow these care and maintenance suggestions for your home’s dishwasher.
To Clean Dishes Effectively





Run the disposal before turning on the dishwasher.
A clogged sink drain will cause a flood.
Use only dishwasher detergent and only in the recommended amounts.
If the dishwasher isn’t directly wired, plug it into a grounded outlet only. Don’t use an
extension cord.
To Clean the Dishwasher







Some parts of the dishwasher need cleaning.
Clean the control panel with a damp cloth. Dry it thoroughly.
Never use harsh abrasives to clean the dishwasher.
Clean the strainer, pump, and spray arms every three months per the manufacturer’s instructions to
remove objects that could clog the drain system.
Clean the dishwasher float periodically to prevent it from sticking; it controls the water level in the
dishwasher. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions
to clean the float.
Before cleaning the interior of the dishwasher, wait at least20 minutes after a cycle for the heating
element to cool down. Failure to do so could result in burn injuries.
To Remove Stains


Clean the stain with dishwasher detergent and water.
If the iron in your water stains the dishwasher, clean the stains with a commercial soluble rust remover that’s safe for use in dishwashers.
To Check for Leaks





Inspect the dishwasher for leaks every six months.
After washing a load of dishes, look along the front and underneath the dishwasher for water leaks.
Use only automatic dishwasher detergents. The wrong detergent can cause the dishwasher to leak.
Call a professional to have any leaks or clogs repaired immediately.

The Bishop Animal Shelter presents:
The 16th annual Canine Christmas Festival
This family event raises funds that save hundreds of pets’ lives each year. The goal for Canine Christmas is
100 adoptions, so if you're looking for a dog or cat, this is the day to see many pets for adoption. There will be live
music by Kim Betts & the Gamble Creek band, food trucks, a Doggy Fun Zone, pet portraits with Santa, a Canine
Fashion Show, a variety of vendors, and much more.
There will also be a 50/50 auction, raffle prizes and silent auction, Manatee County Animal Services Officers
will also be on hand to educate pet owners on the importance of tag compliance and micro chipping. County residents can purchase their Pet License for just $15 with proof of a current rabies vaccines.
Admission to Canine Christmas is $3 per person and kids under 12 are free. Entrance to the festival
grounds is located at 5781 21st Avenue West in Bradenton. Handicapped parking is available, and the property is
