St. Vincent de Paul How can there be people who say that God does not speak, that they don't understand what God wants to say to us? It is clear: these people do not listen to the poor, the children, those in need. They only pay attention to the "constant" voices of propaganda and statistics and do not have ears to hear what the simple folks are saying. Pope Francis A Memorial Mass will be held in honor of FATHER BERNARDINO ESGUERRA on November 13TH at 7:00PM. The results are in. The St. Vincent de Paul Society received $1,400 for collecting 6,807 pounds of clothing at the clothing drive. Once again, we thank all of you who have heard and responded to the cry of those in need. Helping Hands Ministry THANKSGIVING BASKETS NEEDED! Sue Hermida 5 Gospel: John 2:13-22 Near the time of Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem and saw the temple had become a marketplace. He became angry and proceeded to drive out the vendors and livestock. Jesus spoke of destroying the temple and rebuilding it in three days. The Jews did not know Jesus was speaking of his body but when his resurrection from the dead come to pass, his disciples remembered what Jesus had said and came to believe the scripture and the word Jesus had spoken. “You are God‛s building. Thanks to the favor God showed me I laid a foundation as a wise master-builder might do, and now someone else is building upon it. Everyone, however, must be careful how he builds. No one can lay a foundation other than the one that has been laid, namely Jesus Christ...Are you not aware that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” The church we reflect upon today, a major basilica in Rome, is called ‘the mother of all the churches of Rome and the world.‛ It has a special place in the history of the church. We move from a physical building and are reminded by St. Paul that we too are temples of the Spirit. We are God‛s dwelling among His people. The words of John‛s gospel ‘and the Word became flesh and He dwelt among us‛ speak not only of Mary and the Incarnation, but also of the reality, that God lives in and among us. How meaningful as we read these words is the fact that the person sitting and praying next to us, is a temple of God‛s Spirit. How challenging for us to recognize the presence of the Lord in those of our family, those with whom we work. How beautiful we are as we reflect with Paul that ‘I live, now, not I, but Christ lives in me.‛ As I spend time in prayer, whether in a magnificent cathedral or humble chapel, the fact is that the Lord is present and that is what really matters. As I spend time with family and friends, and recognize the presence of the Lord in every individual tat is what really matters. The next time I pass a church, may I remember that His dwelling is there and also with me. In the words of Oscar Romero, Christ is the Master builder, we are the ministers. These groups are designed to explore a priestly vocation with other like-minded men through prayer and sharing vocation stories and experiences. The group meetings aren‛t meant to convince anyone that the priesthood is their vocation. They are designed to assist you in discovering if the priesthood is your true vocation and build your relationship with Christ along the way. If you are a faithful, single, Roman Catholic man, between the ages of 18 and 40, and are asking yourself whether God is calling you to be a priest, you are encouraged to attend the discernment meeting which will be held on 11/23 from 4:00-6:00PM at St. Charlies Borromeo Parish, 2226 Riverton Rd., Cimmaminson, NJ.
