For up-to-date listing of all activities see the Web Site: WWW.KOFC4851.ORG ONE NEW MEMBER PER COUNCIL PER MONTH Dear Brother Knights and Sister Columbiettes, The holiday season is already upon us. Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner. I see Christmas displays popping up in stores everywhere. TV commercials, newspapers (yes, some of us still read the paper ones that get delivered to our house and not on the computer) and on the radio, the message that Christmas is coming is being communicated to all of us early, loud and clear. How are we getting ready? We get our lists together and begin buying gifts for our loved ones hoping to take advantage of the numerous sales between now and then. We need to get our lights ready so we can put them up right after Thanksgiving. We will begin preparations for our thanksgiving meal deciding where we will be or who to invite, getting our orders in to Publix or the honey baked ham store for those special food items. We will quickly get caught up in the “Events” of this holiday…are we missing something? Thanksgiving is a time to remember all of the things we are thankful for in our lives. Are we truly thankful for the good things in our lives? Do we remember those who don’t have as much to be thankful for? It’s a time for a great feast with family and friends but as good Catholics, do we reach out in some way to help those who are not as fortunate and may not have a meal to enjoy? By reaching out are we giving someone else something to be thankful for? I like to ask myself, “What have I done to help others who have not been blessed with things I am thankful for? Food, clothing, shelter, love, faith, understanding, forgiveness, health, spiritual wealth, and this list goes on and on…Is Thanksgiving about a turkey and eating until you feel tired and sick? Is Christmas about trees, lights and gifts? Ask yourself these questions. Awaken within yourself the true reason we celebrate these days. Celebrate the holidays with all the great “events” we plan and share with family, friends and neighbors but let’s remember that Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the many gifts we are thankful for and that Christmas is our celebration that Christ was born. So, here is the Knights Challenge to you…What are you going to do during this holiday season to really honor the true reason we celebrate? This time of year also means it is Fish Fry time. Fish Fry is a great event but it does not just happen. It needs the support of everyone to be a success. Please come out and help in any way you can, from taking tickets, to serving tables to other needed duties there is a place for everyone no matter what strengths or limitations may challenge you. We can use your help and look forward to seeing all of you there…. Remember, our council is challenged to focus on 3 objectives this year: 1 – Strengthen our faith. 2 – Focus on the Family 3 – Support our Parrish Community This holiday season, challenge yourself to look within and ask yourself “what have I done” to meet the challenge. To those of you who don’t come up with reasons why you can’t but rather figure out what ways you can be active and involved no matter how big or small…. this council Thanks You!! Thank you for taking the time to read my message and I look forward to seeing you all at our meetings, events, socials and activities. Your Humble Servant, 1Robert F. As a mother, Mary has another side to her: her responsibility. Love is always tempered by a sense of responsibility towards the child, who slowly acquires some freedom. Between mother and child, there is a union made up of a thousand things, and at the same time a certain distance, so that the child is not a mere copy of her, but can develop his own personality. The Church must also be sensitive to her responsibility to lead the faithful to their freedom, to a true personal growth in Christ. By her love and intelligence, a mother weaves the weft of the child’s psyche. A rich mesh of humanity existed between Mary and Jesus—the presence of his Mother filled the entire depth of Jesus' personality. The first human experience that Jesus had was the feeling of being loved. The first face that Jesus contemplated was his Mother’s; in that face, he drew peace. Hers is also the last face that filled his eyes. DECEMBER 6, 2014 Children’s Christmas Party 12 Noon—3PM Santa arrives at 1PM by Fire Truck.
