Clinical Laser Hair Therapy
T
he Virginia Piper Cancer Center is partnering with the
American Society for Hair Loss to offer low-level light
therapy to patients following chemotherapy and/or radiation
treatment.
The American Society for Hair Loss has been successfully
helping chemotherapy, radiation therapy and genetic hair
loss patients for the past four years at Tina’s Treasures
Cancer Boutique, located in the Virginia Piper Cancer
Center at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea Medical Center.
Patients receiving low-level light therapy are experiencing
hair growth in 5 to 6 months, where it normally can take up t
o 13 to 14 months.
Most patients also experience a better quality of hair and notice
that their hair returns to their original characteristics without
having to go through the ‘baby or feather-like hair’ growth phase
that many experience when their hair first grows in.
Please visit www.americansocietyforhairloss.com to view our
gallery of before and after photos and view patient testimonials.
For more information or to book your complimentary
consultation, call 480-970-0300.
*Results may vary with each patient due to different types of chemotherapy or
radiation that are administered. Strict adherence to the given protocol is required to get the best results.

What is cervical cancer? What causes cervical cancer? Did you
know that cervical cancer is completely preventable if detected
and treated early, before cervical cancer develops, or that a
majority of women diagnosed with cervical cancer either have
never had a Pap test or did not have one in the previous five
years? What is the treatment and who is at a higher risk?
According to the National Cancer Institute, more than 12,000
women in the U.S. will be diagnosed cervical cancer this year.
Cervical cancer is preventable if precancerous cell changes
are detected and treated early, before cervical cancer develops.
Cervical cancer usually takes years to progress. Getting screened
on a regular basis is important to detect any potential problems
before they have progress.
Get up to date knowledge on the HPV vaccine and testing

“EAT REAL” – Real Food and Real
Ingredients for Real Health.
Don’t just think healthy. Live it!
The Cancer Transplant Institute team
The Cancer Transplant Institute at
the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center,
a partnership with Arizona Oncology,
is reaching new milestones by recently
completing its 300th stem cell transplant.
The transplants are primarily used to treat
patients with aggressive cancers such as
myeloma, leukemias and lymphomas.
“We’ve had the privilege of helping many
patients embark on the journey back to
health,” said program director Selma
Kendrick, who is also currently serving as
interim director of the Virginia G. Piper
Cancer Center at Scottsdale Healthcare.
Patients are referred to the Cancer
Transplant Institute from all over the Valley
and other areas of the Southwest. This
achievement comes less than two years after
the Cancer Transplant Institute treated its
first patient in February of 2012, making it
a leading transplant program in a very short
period of time.
