Great time was had by all! Both seasoned Center travelers and newcomers enjoyed this amazing 10day tour. From the skyscrapers of New York, the awe inspiring falls at Niagara, thought- provoking memorials in D.C., and back to New York, we experienced centuries of history. Aboard Cosmos' full-sized coach, 20 travelers from the Center joined 22 mostly British nationals as we ventured through the cities and countrysides of five states. In New York City, we circled Manhattan Island on a tour boat, rode subways and double-decker busses,; we saw Broadway plays and wore out our feet. On the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, we were awestuck by the sheer force of nature and pampered at dinner in the soaring Skylon Tower. Many poignant moments were felt at the war memorials in Washington, D.C. There, we honored the five veterans in our group with a short ceremony. (Clockwise from top left) Penny Moore, Helene Murphy and Carol Johns take in the New York City sights on the first day's Circle Tour. A sunny ride on the Maid of the Mist at the base Niagara Falls turned ultra soggy for Ann Sundgren and Denise Fanazick. Veterans Bob Eachon and Jack Kendall lit a candle at Idaho's marker in D.C.'s WWII memorial. Ivanka Lopes, Penny Herold and Pat Funkhouser cheer "Rocky style" at the top of the famous steps in Philadelphia. New York street performers entertained us after our visit to the 911 memorial brought back memories of that horrific day. NOVEMBER 2014 CU's 'Pay It Forward' program helps Center Center member, Ron Vierra, who is also a member of STCU's Board of Directors, participated in the Northwest Credit Union Association conference in Spokane recently. Their program to 'Pay It Forward' left Ron with $114 in cash -- the average amount credit unions saved their Northwest members last year. Ron decided to 'Pay It Forward' to the Center -- so he matched that $114 with his own $114; then called the Center to give it to us; he told Helen Dennis about it, and she, in turn, matched with another $114 -- netting the Center $342 from that one program. How cool STCU Board and Center is that? member, Ron Vierra, 'pays it forward' with a matched donation of $114 he received, matched again by Helen Dennis (left) and presented to Center Director Bonnie McDade in October.
