If the weather gets bad - too cold, too
much snow and ice, etc, classes will be
cancelled. Instructors should notify
their students by email or phone, so
everyone needs to be looking for their
notification. We will also put info
about cancelled classes on the home
page of the CCDTC website:
www.ccdtc.org.
There also may notifications on the
club’s Yahoo group or Facebook, but
the notifications from instructors and
the website will be the primary
methods of cancellation notifications.
FYI: Here is what Ohio Counties use for
their Snow Emergency Classifications:
Level 1:
Roadways are hazardous. Motorists
are urged to drive very cautiously.
Level 2:
Roadways are hazardous with blowing
and drifting snow. Roads can be very
icy. Only those who feel it necessary to
drive should be out on the roadways.
People should contact their employer
to see if they should report to work.
Obviously, if you are driving, use
extreme caution.
Level 3:
All roadways are closed to nonemergency personnel. No one should
be driving during this condition unless
it is absolutely necessary, or a
personal emergency exists. All
employees should contact their
employers to see if they should report
to work. Anyone traveling on the roads
may subject themselves to arrest.

Treats During
Agility class
Please DO NOT put food of any type in
or on the agility equipment. This
includes the dog walk, teeter, a-frame,
table and tunnels. Some of the
equipment and all of the tunnels are
used for trials. Food that remains in or
on any equipment could ruin a dog's
run. Also a dog might find and eat some
rancid treat/food and get sick.
Thanks!
CCDTC
Garage Sale
The first Annual CCDTC Garage
Sale/Flea Market/Yard Sale (it was
called so many things) was a great
success! We got rid of lots of club stuff
that had been collecting dust for
awhile, including the old tunnels. There
were many people attending with
booths set up and some made quite a
bit of money! CCDTC made almost
$700 from tunnels, gating, misc items,
and stall rentals. Stuff not sold was
either carted back home, or left for St.
Vincent dePaul to pick up as a
donation.
It looks like there will be another event
like this in the Spring, so start putting
stuff aside over the winter to make
some bucks next Spring! People
coming in off the streets were asking
when we're doing this again!
Meet The New Board
CCDTC Members will elect Officers for 2014-15 at the November Membership Meeting.
Candidates for the Office of President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Trustee and Training

All bios are published here as received from the Candidates. CCDTC and the Staff of The Happy Howler take no
responsibility for the accuracy of this information.

We had so many “FIRSTs” together. So many said Eris
made them smile with her antics. I'm fortunate to
still have her with me through her pups and
grandpups and they all have shown her whimsical

I believe Eris is CCDTC's most titled dog in multiple
areas having been a champion and having earned
titles in hunt, obedience, rally, agility and dock
diving in both AKC and UKC.

HEAT!
The new heaters are working (the
same units as the AC), so the
previous old noisy heaters are NOT
be used anymore.
The new heaters are on a “schedule”
like the AC has been setup. The heat
will come on in the morning, and will
automatically go down around 9pm
for overnight. Nobody really needs to
adjust it, other than possibly on trial
weekends or sub-freezing recordshattering blasts of arctic temps.
Since these are new and we're
100% sure if the temps set for
schedule are warm enough,
scheduled temp settings will
adjusted if needed.

Please note that temps won't be set
to be" hot and toasty", (not to mention

for normal winter temps in the
building. Please do not come in from
your hot car or with non-winter
clothing and crank up the heat making it tolerable for you, but

building that is there that has
sweatshirts or layers on.

If you see anything not working

There is a list of numbers above the

might be able to help the situation.
Also, put a NOTE on something that is
not working correctly so that someone
else doesn't come along before it's
fixed and use it - and get themselves or

in Lisa White DVM for a seminar.
Gloria has plans to write an instructors
manual so there is consistency among
CCDTC Classes. Gloria has started
having Therapy Dog Information

Judie Taphorn announced the slate of
candidates for the November 18
election. President: Rod Steele,
Training Directors: Gloria White and
Carol Stephenson, Corresponding

Edith Markoff, Trustee at Large (2):
Joni Griffith and Diane Method. There

Equipment Committee
Rod Steele reported the club gave the
authority to purchase a new dog walk
and A frame at the last membership
meeting when the funds are available.
The board is looking into purchasing
them over a period of time and when
Max 200 is either in Cleveland in
December, or in Lexington in March, to
save on transportation costs.
Events Committee
Recent events at the club were Barn
Hunt on August 22 - 24, Lisa White
DVM seminar Sept 6, Suzanne
Clothier Seminar Sept 12 - 15. Rhoda
Ezell said the Suzanne Clothier had a
lot of people from all over attend. At
this time Rhoda feels the club will profit
about $1,000 from hosting the seminar.
The Friday seminar was on Puppy
Protocol, Saturday’s topic was the
Athletic Dog with wonderful slo-motion
videos of what to look for and Sunday’s
topic was Flight or Fright
Temperament. There were private
evaluations on Monday. Suzanne will
be back sometime in 2016, topics to be
determined at that time.

Rhoda Ezell is organizing the event.

$30. A 10’ x 10’ booth space
outdoors is FREE for members and
$15 for non members. Crafters are
also welcome. Rhoda requested
help with publicity and advertising.
The Equipment Committee will
decide which unused equipment
from the club will be available for
sale. Rhoda is also contacting
various charities to come and pickup
any left over items after the sale.
Store
Fred and Becky Eichler are looking
for someone else to take over the
store as they been in charge of the
store for the last five years. If you
are looking for volunteer hours you
can work in the store during events
at the club. They are willing to help a
new store manager.
Building
Rod Steele reported the new
thermostats were recently installed
in the building. They will
automatically reset at 9pm and 8am
to preset temperatures. If you need
to adjust the temperature, Joni
Griffith will be placing instructions
next to each of the thermostats.
According to Rod, Mr. Kellerman
said the new units are hooked up to
the gas line. When CCDTC’s HVAC
man was there recently he said they
were not hooked up to the gas lines.
Cathy Neff said the service man told
her the outside units filter were

clogged. The serviceman said the units
should have been installed on a
concrete pad. We need to have all the
grass and weeds around them cleared
because the new units pull in a lot of air.
Rod said the grass will be killed around
the units and some kind of stone will be
put around them. Also the unit that
services the store, rest rooms and
kitchen area, has frozen up. The
service man cleaned that unit and
replaced the filer. A schedule has been
set up to inspect units monthly. The
three gas furnaces in the building also
need service.
Last winter someone stole the copper
coils out of the air conditioning units.
Tami Williams has offered to give the
club chain link fencing and gates to put
around the units to deter theft.
Dale Blewett asked about the
statement from Mr. Kellerman about
him not replacing the air conditioning
units if stolen again. Dale said the club
paid for the original installation of the
units and if stolen again probably would
not be the club’s responsibility to
replace them. Cathy Neff asked what
does the lease say about who is
7
responsible for the air conditioning
units.
New Business
The Equipment Committee made a
presentation for the purchase of a new
storage unit. They have looked at two
different units – each one is 20’ x 20’
with a garage door and a side door.
The cost is $3,800 plus sales tax
installed. They have already checked
with Mr. Kellerman and he is okay with
the storage unit on the property. The
storage unit would hold trial equipment
(new Dog Walk and A Frame). A flat
area will need to be found to place the
unit. This might require moving the
dumpster. Rhoda Ezell made a motion
the club purchase the storage unit,
seconded by Amy Ball. All in favor.
Motion carried.
