slots to fill (60 to be exact) and your contribution will be forever remembered with these
adorable children at Armstrong Elementary. This tradition continues with your support by

that will bring smiles and cherished memories to adorable little children. There is no
experience required! Come be part of this wonderful occasion. It is an event you will not

Continuing the Tradition of Giving at College Park High School
College Park High School and PTO have adopted CISD’s Armstrong Elementary, located north
of the Woodlands, to help provide much needed assistance, support and mentoring to
disadvantaged children.
College Park’s new adopted family Armstrong Elementary is considered a “Title 1” school
which is defined as a low social, economic school with little parental support. Over the past
four years, the College Park PTO has had the honor of orchestrating a holiday party for our
former adopted elementary school Runyan.
TWCP wishes to continue its tradition this year by helping to host another holiday party for
the whole Armstrong school, over 700 students! Each student will make an ornament or
similar craft, decorate cookies, enjoy a snack and participate in a book swap. This project,
being so large, will require the additional support of our school and community. We will
need craft supplies, snack items, and the sum of 725 age appropriate new reading books. By
making a cash donation, these funds will help pay for the items mentioned above and give
these children a wonderful, lasting memory.
You may choose to become a classroom Co-sponsor or a Grade Level Co-sponsor. For cosponsorship opportunities (families or businesses) see Donation Form. You can also help by
donating a new condition book for Pre-K through 4th grade level.
Please help The College Park PTO with this wonderful holiday project by donating new
books, sending a check (payable to TWCP PTO) or giving a few hours of your time to help
with the big event Thursday, December 18th. It will take a force to accomplish such a big
event, but the College Park Family always is willing to help others in need!

JUNIOR RING CEREMONY:
Due to the low number of class ring orders, we are canceling the Junior Ring Ceremony on
December 1st. Herff Jones (the ring company) will present rings and bring a cake during
lunches.
PEER TUTORING:
Peer Tutoring will be available every Tuesday-Thursdays beginning October 21, 2014. All
subjects will be tutored, the hours are 2:45pm-4:30 pm in room 1608.

Just a reminder that Cold and Flu season is approaching, we encourage our students to do
the following to help in keeping themselves as healthy as possible.

Frequent hand washing for 20 seconds.

Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.

Avoid, kissing, hugging or sharing eating utensils with people who are ill.

Cover your cough and sneezes

Disinfect frequently touched surfaces, such as toys, and doorknobs especially if
someone is ill.

TWCP- DRIVER EDUCATION CLASSES:
Online registration is now available on-line for the Fall 2014 “Driver Education Classes”
being held at the TWCPHS campus. The class times are held after school on campus. To
register go to www.esc6.net and click on the driver-ed icon located in the right upper corner
of the Educational Service Center Region VI. website. Next scroll down and select the course
that best fits your son or daughters schedule and click on register and it will give you times
and locations. The courses listed at this time on-line are (#175311 and #175313). For
additional information you can contact (936)435-8325 or (936)435-8320 and I will also be
on campus for the freshman orientation on 8-12-14.
STUDENT PLANNERS:
To help all students stay organized throughout the school year, College Park Cheerleaders
will be selling student planners. Students will have an opportunity to buy planners during
school hours through the student store.

This year is very special, it is College Park's 10th anniversary. There are two options to get
your yearbook.
1) You can go to balfour.com and charge the book to your credit card.
or
2) You can write a check to TWCP yearbook including your date of birth and driver’s license
number.

I am so excited to announce that our Lone Star College Advisor, Patricia, has started visiting CP this fall!!
She will be here throughout the year, every other Tuesday in the fall, and every Tuesday later in the spring. I would LOVE to have
tons of seniors sign up to see her!

This meeting is typically one on one or small group with Patricia, our advisor. You can complete the application, find out the steps to
be admitted into a particular program (Nursing or cosmetology, welding, auto tech for example). Learn about placement testing and
everything in between. Want to take a few classes then transfer--this is for you as well! If you want to get a head start on this,
PLEASE sign up.
We will try to see as many students as possible! It's never too early to start!!

The Cats Meow Village Order Form 2014-15
The Cats Meow Village collectible keepsakes are an extensive array of historic places and landmarks in the United States. Series
collections feature nostalgic sites from Americana, old barns, lighthouses, hotels, churches, train stations, and many other examples
of historic significance in our country.
We proudly present The Woodlands College Park High School Cats Meow Village keepsake as a testament to the historic relevance of
the architecture of the school and spirit of the student body. Notice, the clock reads 10:00 in celebration our school’s 10th
anniversary!
These have been specially designed by The Cats Meow Village and are sure to please the entire Woodlands community. They are a

hygiene items for the Ronald McDonald House. “Peyton’s Products” are being collected in memory of Coach James’s son

WOODLANDS RUGBY:
Rugby is a game that develops leadership, team spirit, courage, sportsmanship, and friendship. Garrett Soileau started playing rugby
his freshman year. Like most individuals who start playing rugby, he quickly fell in love and learned to play the game well. He was
selected for Texas High Performance teams every year and his senior year he played for the Rocky Mountain Challenge AllTournament Team and USA Rugby Stars and Stripes, reserved for the top 50 Boys and top 50 Girls selected from Regional All Star
Tournaments. In response to the question of what he loves most about rugby, Garrett explains, "The fact that everyone has the
chance to prove themselves. In rugby everyone has the chance to take the ball in for the score and feel what it’s like to put points on
the board for your team. Forwards have to be able to pass just as good as backs and backs have to be able to go blow up a ruck if
needed. You basically have to be able to play any position which isn't like any other sport out there. "To me rugby means
opportunity. This sport has given me so many opportunities that I would have never gotten if it weren't for rugby. Because of rugby
I've had the privilege to represent my state and even represent my country. I've made friends with people all over the United States
and even overseas because of all the opportunities rugby has presented me with." Garrett is perfect example of everyone getting a
chance to prove themselves in rugby. He most recently was invited to the U20 Junior Men's All American World Trophy team. He
also plays for Arkansas State University Rugby Team. Come check out the fastest growing sport in the nation with the largest
rugby club in Texas!
Woodlands Youth Rugby will hold tryouts each Wednesday in November from 6-8 pm at Alden Bridge Sports Park. Players
from all area schools are welcome.

TWCP CLUB INFORMATION
FISHING CLUB:
TWCP fishing club is a student run club. With parent and teacher sponsor help, we participate in high school bass fishing
tournaments.
We have approximately 18 members and we currently need members with access to a bass boat. The door is always open to every CP
high school student interested in pitching their fishing skills against other high schools in local bass fishing leagues.
We travel at least once a month to lakes such as Conroe, Livingston, Lake Houston, Sam Rayburn and LBJ. We currently hold the 2014
Texas State Champions title for bass fishing. 3 of our teams placed in the top 5 on Conroe last month. In December we will compete
against over 200 boats from over 30 schools in the SETX fishing league on Sam Rayburn reservoir.

Bagley had projects to show and oral presentations explaining their project to present to the judges. Each student did an
outstanding job in the competition and representing College Park High School.
Ana Ashley & McKenzie Winsemius, Alyssa Grayson & Ethan Hallford, Dominik Passmore & Julie Yanez, and Sydney Bagley all
qualified with their projects for the state meet. It will be held in February at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.

¡BAILAMOS!
On Monday we will be starting up a new club here at CPHS. It is the ¡Bailamos! dance club. It will meet on the 2nd and 4th Mondays
of each month. LGI fishbowl, at 2:45 pm. Please encourage all students to come and become a member, especially those freshmen
that haven't become involved in any extracurricular activity. This club is a cross-cultural group where students will be learning to
dance everything from the Texas 2 step to the Salsa, to Flamenco, to Tango, etc.
WRITERS CLUB:
Writers Club meets on Mondays @ 2:45-3:45, in room 1610. Students can share their own writing including fiction, nonfiction or
poetry. Students will be able to get ideas and constructive feedback from fellow writers, contests and meet other aspiring writers.

Texas Association of Future Educators (T.A.F.E.) will meet the 2nd Wednesday of each month in room 1409 at 6:50 am.

SPEECH AND DEBATE CLUB:
College Park Speech and Debate students competed at Kingwood last weekend with successes in Humerous interpretation, prose,
poetry and Lincoln Douglas debate.
We are preparing for district scrimmages and upcoming tournaments as well as UIL district congress competition at A&M
Consolidated on November 11th.
ART CLUB:
Art Club will begin meeting on Tuesdays, in room 1414. All students that are interested in creating art are invited, no
experience necessary. We will meet from 2:45 to 3:45. Bring a friend.
STORM:
STORM is a Christian student organization that meets Friday afternoons at 2:45 in room 1105.
