Research Experience & Main Projects
03/2014-Present

Large-Scale Fluctuations Point Prediction Based on Mutual Information and
Transfer Entropy
● According to the definition of mutual information and transfer entropy, detected the
phase transition of Ising model which occurs with the maxima of Rényi entropy, proved
the theoretical feasibility of the prediction method
● Applied the prediction method into time series data of financial markets, attempted to
predict the occurrence of phase-transition-like behavior in stock market
03/2013-Present

Allometric Scaling, Zipf’s Law and Pattern Formation of Natural Cities
● Developed the application of the nighttime light remote sensing images in the study of
urban system, innovatively proposed the concept of natural city on the basis of the
self-organizing attributes of urban systems
● Explored allometric scaling, Zipf’s Law and fractal properties of natural cities,
compared with the conclusion based on traditional definition and successfully modeled
nighttime clusters for the first time whose characteristic patterns are in consistent with
empirical results
11/2012-Present

Experimental comparison of collective behavior in physical systems versus
populations of living organisms
● Developed the supporting software to track moving objects for Prof. Bertrand M.
Roehner in University of Paris, led in the experiments exploring velocity distribution of
ants
● Designed the fish navigation and aggregation behavior research laboratory, assisted the
experiments, responsible for automatic recognition and tracking of fish and took part in
the modeling process
10/2013-05/2014

The Impact of Scale on Equilibrium of Coordination Games
● Programmed and organized to implement the coordination game experiments based on
Z-tree-based platform
● Innovatively proposed an analytic approach concerning whether or not the composition
of subjects and its change can decide the success of coordination, explored the impact of
game size on the equilibrium in coordination games
09/2012-09/2013

Bootstrap Percolation on Weighted Network and Its Application in Input-output
Network
● Compared an evaluation method based on bootstrap percolation with traditional
methods based on node strength or community structure
● Applied bootstrap percolation model on weighted network to the input-output network,
assessed the importance of the industrial sectors and proposed control strategy to protect
important sectors from cascading failure
12/2012-05/2013

Self-Organization of Decentralized Markets with Network Externality
● Simulated a decentralized market with network externality evolution process through
multi-agent modeling
● Analyzed the emergence of multiple equilibrium in the simulation, demonstrated the
crucial influence of information and network externalities on the realization of market
efficiency
03/2012-08/2012

Study of Surnames in China through Isonymy
● Preprocessed data sets obtained from China identity information system
● Conducted statistical analysis of surname and tested its frequency distribution,
constructed migration matrix to estimate the immigration and emigration population
