The Pimlico News Volume 47 Number 5 PRESIDENT’S CORNER By Jo Ann Whitlock, 761-6658 I hope everyone enjoyed our Fall Festival on Friday, the 31st of October. Tami Willis once again pulled off an amazing community event that focused on the children. Thank you to all who helped, including the Pimlico Ladies Club for providing spooky, tasty homemade treats. Take a look at the pictures taken at this year’s event. Don’t forget to vote Tuesday, November 4 at the Community Center. The one cent sales tax is on the ballot and I just wanted to let everyone know that without that in place, we would not have gotten the partial paving that was done on Albert Storm Blvd. In an SCDOT letter, they informed me that Berkeley County is only allocated enough money to pave about 5 miles of non-federal aid routes each year. Albert Storm is a non-federal aid route and there are over 340 miles of roadway that are eligible for paving in Berkeley County. My conclusion, in order to try and maintain our roads, the tax is needed. Last week we had a dike inspection from DHEC. The full report is to follow. The initial comments were to keep vegetation at a minimum, watch for seepage, and do not dig into the dikes. I would ask that if you walk around the lakes take some loppers and keep the small undergrowth cut back. That will go a long way in protecting the dikes and making for a safer walking experience. Our annual Christmas Chili Cook-off and night time Golf Cart Parade are coming up. See the flier in this newsletter for more information. Start planning now to be there. It is fun for all. We will have a police and fire escort for safety. “Serving Pimlico First” Our speaker this month will be our Berkeley County Council Representative, Ken Gunn. Come out on the 13th at 7:30 p.m. and get a firsthand report of what is happening. Nov 2014 The next public meeting of the Residents Committee is on Tuesday, November 10 at 7:30 in the Community Center. All residents are welcome to attend. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- COMMUNITY WATCH EVENTS FOR NOVEMBER Mon 3, 19, 17, 24 Fire Dept7 PM Tues 4 Elections 7 AM – 7 PM Thu 6 Ladies Bunko 10 AM Thu 6 Civic Club Board 7:30 PM Tue 10 Residents Comm.7:30 PM Tues 11 Ladies Work Day 9 AM Thu 13 Civic Club Mtg 7:30 PM Tue 18 Ladies Club Mtg 10 AM Thu 20 Ladies Bunko – 10 AM ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RIVER ACCESS KEYS – New or Lost & Found Keys - Pimlico lot owners, call 761-6658.
