The Certificate IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) will give you the skills you need to peruse a career in an Australian kitchen. The Sunshine Coast is the ideal place to study hospitality with hundreds of restaurants serving a huge variety of different cuisines from all over the world. TAFE Queensland East Coast is a leader in hospitality training with two fully operational restaurants open to members of the public serving high quality meals. In this time you'll complete your Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) and your Certificate IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery). You will learn a wide range of food preparation techniques using a variety of ingredients. You will begin with basic food preparation techniques and progress to more advanced techniques as your skills develop. In order to reflect the nature of the hospitality industry this program has been designed to provide real life experiences. You'll attend practical classes where you prepare and serve food for members of the public dining in the TAFE Queensland East Coast training restaurant and bistro. Career prospects: Graduates can expect to work with people from all over the world and see and experience a vast array of food and food preparation techniques. Job opportunities may be found in cafes, restaurants, event catering, hotels, clubs, airlines, hospitals, resorts either in a kitchen or front-of-house setting. The types of positions that can be sought at a management level after some operational experience include: kitchen manager, chef or small business operator, supervising one or more sections in a large kitchen, supervising a small kitchen.
