eyes and ears. At a high-level
meeting attended by chiefs of
all security and intelligence
agencies, Singh ordered that
all efforts should be made to
improve the country’s antiterror mechanism, official

Proclamation notice
against APs shortly

Agartala, Nov. 14 : Having failed to
arrest the FIR named accused persons into
the multi-crore scam at Bishalgarh RD Block,
the police have urged the SDJM, Bishalgarh
to issue proclamation notice against all the
absconders.
Sources confirmed the Investigating
Officer (IO) has requested the court to
issue proclamation notice
against all the 11 FIR
named accused persons
as they still remained
absconding even after issuance of arrest
warrant.
If proclamation of notice fails to force the
feeling accused persons to surrender before
the court, the investigating officer would
approach the SDJM to allow the police to
attach their properties.
Of the total 12 accused persons in the
Rs. 17 crore scam, only one- the then BDO
Bimal Chakraborty had surrendered before
the court last month. Now, he is in 15-day
judicial remand.
Other than the then BDO, all the accused
persons are still at large despite efforts by the
law enforcement agencies to arrest the 11 FIR
named accused persons. According to police,
all the 11 FIR named accused persons have
fled away to either Bangladesh or outside
the state to evade arrest or surrender.
As many as seven cases have been
registered under one FIR lodged by the
incumbent BDO,
Bishalgarh RD Block.
Sources said the IO is
trying to prepare chargesheet in of the cases very shortly.
After 15-day remand, Bimal Chakraborty
would be produced before the SDJM court
on November 19 next.
Meanwhile, the High Court of Tripura will
hear two separate Pubic Interest Litigations
(PIL) seeking CBI probe into the scam on
November 14. The PILs were separately filed
by Chairman of Trinamool Congress state
committee Arun Chandra Bhowmik

Even after joint study
Land appears obstacle
in airport facelift plan

Land scarcity appears a
major bottleneck in the
ambitious Agartala Airport
modernization plan,
according to official sources
here.
Under the plan, the
Airport Authority of India
(AAI) wants to shift the
terminal building upto the
erstwhile CPWD’s office.
Accordingly, the runway
and passenger lounge would
also be expanded upto the
proposed terminal building to
make the Agartala Airport as
international standard.
To p u s h t h e w h o l e
project, the AAI requires
over 100 acres of land in the
vicinity of the existing airport
though the state government
has already provided 72 acres
of land.
In search of additional
plots, a joint team of Sadar
subdivision and AAI authority
has conducted a study in and
around the airport premises
yesterday but did not find
suitable plots measuring 36
acres.
Having failed to
find suitable plots, the
administration has requested
the AAI officials to explore if
they are interested using plots
just left of Sukhamoy HS
School to build a taxi stand.
In addition some ‘lunga’
plots could arrangement
for the expansion plan but
36 acres land could not be
provided as the area is thickly
populated.
An official of the Sadar
administration today said,
“We have carried out study
if we can arrange more land
for the airport modernization
plan. It’s not possible to
provide 32 more acres to
the AAI authority to push
the ambitious plan as the
area is thickly populated.
As everybody knows land
acquisition is a major
problem”.

send its opinion to the higher
ups for taking necessary steps

Bhattacharya, who emerged among
the top seven rank holders at Sa Re
Ga Ma Pa in Zee Bangla relate him

The young musical talent of Sa
Re Ga Ma Pa passes one-and half
hour in the morning, but his mind is
always deepened in music throughout
the day.
Sushobhan, final year Civil
Engineering student of National Institute
of Technology (NIT) arrived here on
October 29 after spending six months
at Kolkata for a special solo concert
to be held tomorrow at Mukatadhara
auditorium Hall.
“The reality shows are a unique and
creative platform for budding singers to
pursue their musical dreams. This gives
you a new identity and a scope to learn
from the big shots,” Sushobhan said to
Tripura Times in an exclusive interview,
adding that Sa Re Ga Ma Pa has opened
a new route of his musical career.
Sushobhan, having a musical
background, touched with recitation,
painting and tabla since his childhood. His
mother - Archana (Deepa) Bhattacharya,
a homemaker first brought him to the
world of music. Later, he started
learning classical music at the direction
of their ‘dikshaguru.’ His grandfather
- Jaganmohan Bhattacharya used to
play flute with Sachin Deb Barman at
Rajdarbar during his times. His father
- Suprit Bhattacharya is working as
assistant architect at PWD.
He shared his experiences during his
Sa Re Ga Ma Pa days where he became
familiar with modulation of different
songs apart from classical.

Kunal stable after
suicide bid in jail

Friday successfully test-fired
its indigenously developed
nuclear-capable Prithvi-II
surface-to-surface missile,
which has a strike range of
350 km, from a test range at
Chandipur near here as part
of a user trial by Army.
Defence sources said
the state-of-the-art missile,
which is capable of carrying
500 kg to 1000 kg of
warheads, was test-fired
from a mobile launcher in
salvo mode from launch
complex-3 of Integrated Test
Range at about 10.40 hrs.

Sarada Scam

pills in an alleged suicide
bid inside the Kolkata jail
where he has been locked
up for the past year
Kunal, who was the
CEO of Saradha’s media
wing at the time the Ponzi
scheme at the company
unravelled, was rushed
to hospital where doctors
said his condition was
stable.
The one-time close
confidant of West Bengal
chief minister Mamata
Banerjee had threatened
this week to end his life if the CBI failed
to take action against others involved in
the scam, is in hospital and doctors say his
condition is stable.
Jail authorities filed an FIR against Ghosh
as attempted suicide is a criminal offence.
“According to a complaint lodged by
jail authorities, a case has been registered
against Kunal Ghosh u/s section 309 of IPC,”
said Rajeev Mishra,
joint commissioner
(headquarters) of Kolkata
Police.
A hospital official said
Ghosh told doctors in the
emergency department
that he had consumed
26 pills. “A six-member
medical board has been
formed to treat him. He is
stable now. The team will
decide when to discharge
him,” said Pradip Mitra,
director of the Institute
of Post Graduate Medical
Education and Research.
“The contents of his
stomach have been sent
for forensic test.”
Prison officials
failed to explain how
the suspended Trinamool
Congress leader managed to procure the
sedatives despite being lodged in a highsecurity cell at the Presidency jail with two
guards keeping watch.
“He was extremely depressed even during
the last hearing (on Monday). We informed
the court too. It is surprising how sedatives
find their way inside the jail,” said Ghosh’s
