Vishuis Annex
(re-est. 2015)
The Vishuis Annex is a private, off-campus men’s residence affiliated with Huis Abraham
Fischer, the oldest and most prestigious residence at the University of the Free State.
The Vishuis Annex provides an environment suitable for senior students who have previously
been residents of Huis Abraham Fischer and who still wish to remain involved in residence
activities as well as First Year students who have not been able to secure accommodation in
Huis Abraham Fischer but wish to form part of the Vishuis community and experience the unique
Vishuis camaraderie.
The Vishuis Annex is located at 21 Dutton Crescent,
Brandwag which is a mere 800m from the Tempe Gate
to the University of the Free State and only 1,2km from
Huis Abraham Fischer.
This property (previously operated as Villa Favorita
Private Hotel) offers single and shared accommodation
for approximately 60 students.
Each room is equipped with its own bathroom and basic
kitchenette. All furniture is provided so each resident need
only bring his own study chair, bedding, clothing and
personal effects.
Access to the property is via electric gate with a full time
security guard on duty. Undercover parking is available for
residents and allocated via seniority.
Residents also have access to the Annex Common
Room where they can relax and socialize with fellow
residents. A flat screen TV with full DSTV bouquet,
pool table, vending machines and tea/coffee making
facilities are available to all residents.
Each resident is required to complete and sign a lease
agreement as well us a Code of Conduct applicable to
all Annex residents.
The Vishuis Annex is affiliated with Huis Abraham Fischer and therefore all rules and regulations
as contained in the Constitution of Huis Abraham Fischer will apply to Annex residents when
they are on Campus or on the Huis Abraham Fischer property.
Annex residents will be included in all Huis Abraham Fischer activities organized and hosted by
the Residence Committee and will be entitled to participate in selected UFS sports and cultural
activities under the official banner of Huis Abraham Fischer.
The use of the Vishuis campus facilities including the Laundry Service, Vishuis Dining Hall,
Academic Room, Gentleman’s Lounge, Common Room and Teebankies (as per the relevant
rules and guidelines) will also be a benefit enjoyed by residents of the Vishuis Annex.
