Jennie Rosberg awarded the
2015 Lewenhaupt Grant
Claës Lewenhaupt’s scholarship foundation for young photographers was
established after his death in 1990. The aim of the foundation is to award an
annual grant to improve opportunities for young photographers to benefit
from further training or to fulfil a photographic idea. The foundation has its
seat in Landskrona and the board currently consists of Tonie Lewenhaupt,
Gerry Johansson, Janne Jönsson and Göran Nyström. In 2014 the grant had
been awarded fifteen times.
Jennie Rosberg (born 1977) has now been awarded the grant for 2015. Jennie
lives in Malmö and works as an artist and photographer. She trained at London
South Bank University (BA Hons Digital Photography) and at the School of
Photography, Gothenburg University (MFA Photography). Jennie mainly works
with photography in her art, but also with installation and text.
She has previously participated in exhibitions including Galleri Pictura in
Lund, Göteborgs Konsthall, Galleri Breadfield in Malmö and Fotografins Hus
in Stockholm, and she has had solo exhibitions at Rummet [format] in Malmö,
at Mono Galleri in Östersund and Galleri Monitor in Gothenburg. Among other
things, Jennie has been awarded project grants by the Swedish Arts Grants
Committee, earned a grant from Eric Ericsons Stiftelse, and is represented in
the art collection of Region Skåne.
The board has decided to award this year’s grant to Jennie Rosberg with the
following citation:
For classical photography, light and shade, black and grey tones, are
fundamental for a good picture.
For this year’s recipient, Jennie Rosberg, this is self-evident, as she demonstrates
through the much longed-for directness of her pictorial language.
Jennie’s pictures communicate a calm charged with dynamic light and sometimes
also accentuated by a piece of genuine surrealism.
The grant will be awarded during Landskrona Foto Festival 2015, where Jennie
will also participate with an exhibition at Landskrona Museum.
