Lord God of all the ages, the One who is, who was, and who is to come, stir up within us a longing for

What does it mean to exalt the
name of God? Is exaltation part of
our daily spiritual discipline?
WAYFARING STRANGER
The refrain of this hymn is “may
Jesus Christ be praised.” The tune
name, LAUDES DOMINI, would
roughly translate to “praise the
Lord.”
What is the fullest way to delight
in God’s will and walk in God’s
ways? (Hint: look at the fourth
and fifth lines of this prayer.)
As the liturgist proclaims the
assurance of pardon, listen closely
to the words. In many ways the
assurance of forgiveness and of
life eternal are the center of all
acts of Christian worship.
This responsive song is one of
many new hymns in our Glory to
God hymnal. We have been
singing this for a number of
weeks as a hymn in praise of
God’s mercy.
Austin C. Lovelace is a pillar of
American church music. Known
for his choral and organ music,
he also championed hymnody
and congregational singing. The
9:30 & 11:00 a.m. anthem is
based on a Welsh tune that will
also be played by the Handbell
Choir.

In Romans 8 we read a powerful
expression of the power of grace
in Jesus Christ to overcome all
things.
The Youth Choir anthem was
written for and dedicated to the
Middler Choir at the 2013
Montreat Conference on
Worship and Music. It is written
for three-part voices, keyboard,
and handbells. In addition to the
text from Revelation (4:8b;
5:13b; and 21:1-6), the anthem
weaves the familiar hymn tune
NICAEA into the music. Do you
recognize it?
