From your Social Action Committee
Many people find themselves without a family doctor, or general practitioner. Here are some
suggestions from the social action committee that might help you in your search.
If you live in the CLSC Metro territory call them on a weekday from 8AM to 8PM at
514-932-0354. You will likely get a recording, where you can leave your name, phone number,
address (including postal code) your medicare number and your date of birth. Mention that you are a
senior and that you lack a family doctor. They will call you back. It is the CLSC’s that are mandated to
keep lists and assign general practitioners, and they are supposed to prioritize seniors and people
with chronic illnesses. It doesn’t mean you will get referred to one right away, but it will get you on a
list. And doctors are supposed to accept a given number of these referrals. If you live in a different
CLSC territory, call the one that serves your area.
The Greene Avenue Medical Clinic reports that they are accepting clients 514-789-2222 and have
GPS and Geriatricians on staff.
The Westmount Square Walk-in Clinic is open 8 am – 9 pm on Weekdays and Sat-Sun 9-5. But you
cannot make an appointment, and you get to see whoever is on duty. Their number is 514-934-2334.
Let us know how it goes!
Winter Boots – IMPORTANT
We would like to remind you to remove your winter boots and other overshoes after entering the
Centre at the front door. Bring comfortable shoes or slippers with a good tread with you when you
come to the Centre during the winter months. This will prevent slippery, wet surfaces for yourself and
others. Thank you for your cooperation.
