Su Clinica Exemplary Safety Program
Commissioner of Workers’ Compensation, Ryan Brannan, will be at Su Clinica’s
Harlingen headquarters at 8:30am on
Thursday, November 6 to recognize the clinic for its nationally recognized workplace
safety program. The Commissioner will be
on hand to add to the clinic’s accolades by
presenting Su Clinica CEO, Elena
Marin, M.D. with
the Division of
Workers’ Compensation (DWC)

be joined on the
podium by State
Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. and State Representative Eddie Lucio III.
The Peer Review award recognizes those
employers with outstanding safety programs. Recipients of the award are not only
recognized but may be called upon to serve
as role models and mentors to others in
their profession. Award recipients are recognized at the annual Texas Safety Summit.
Su Clinica is the only community health
center in Texas to receive both state and
national recognition for its workplace safety
program. The clinic is also the only com-
munity health center out of over 1,100 in
the nation to receive the prestigious SHARP
Award for workplace safety.
Dr. Marin expressed the pride felt by

Su Clinica Familiar is a non-profit organization providing primary healthcare services through clinics in Brownsville, Harlingen, Raymondville, and Santa Rosa, Texas.
Su Clinica receives support from the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services,
Bureau of Primary Healthcare. Corporate

International Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu Championship
Tournament on Saturday,
November 1 in Long,
California.
The tournament was held
at the Walter Pyramid
building.
After a 5 minute round
with the former champion of
California, Jeff won the
Super Heavyweight World
Championship title.
At 58, he has added to his
accomplishments as a martial arts competitor, and he
continues his passion of 40
years training students and
is a student of the martial
arts.
