INSTRUCTORS
HENRI BURHIN: Mr. Henri G. Burhin is presently retired from Alpha Technologies (former Monsanto Instrument and Equipment). His previous
responsibility was application research for the Monsanto Rubber Chemical group. His area of expertise is Polymer testing with emphasis on viscovisco
elastic property
roperty measurements. This includes both plastics and rubber whether as pure materials or fully compounded. In his career in
Monsanto/Alpha Technologies/Dynisco, he technically supported the sales organization with special emphasis on rheological too
tools
ls at demanding
customers such as the major tire manufacturers or polyolefin multinational suppliers. He also participated in the latest deve
development
lopment on the
RPA2000 instrument towards higher productivity, sensitivity, accuracy and novelty. He acquired a wide expe
experienced in non-linear
linear viscoelasticity,
also quoted as “FT-Rheology”.
Rheology”. He has been working in close collaboration with the UCL (Université Catholique de Louvain) Belgium in the
polymer department for seven years working on thermoplastics, composites and Pre
Pre-Preg
Preg and Nano fillers. He holds 2 patents and several papers
and has been speaker at several international conferences around the world. He has been Application Specialist for all Alpha Technologies product range and Dynisco
POLYTEST for Europe/Africa, Asia and Indian sub-continent
continent area. He is graduated in chemistry.
VAN WALWORTH: Van Walworth is a product design and development specialist. A primary application of his skills is focused on products
related to the rubber, plastic, & pipe industries. In many circles he is known as “The Ideaguy or as The Rubber Whisperer”. His career spans over
thirty five years practicing product R&D, tool & equipment design, process establishment & improvement, troubleshooting, prob
problem
lem solving,
project
ject management, and spontaneous creativity. Walworth has been a full
full-time
time consultant for the past eleven years. Prior to commencing full
time consulting, Walworth held corporate positions with several companies including, Parker
Parker-Hannifin, Wynn’s Precision,
on, Ashtabula Rubber
Company, and Thunderline Corp., Reeves Rubber and American Cast Iron Pipe Company. To date, nine product patents have been iissued
ssued based
on his work, with over a dozen additional patents currently pending. Walworth is an international
internationally
ly recognized technical educator with
published works. He has conducted seminars and conferences for professionals and technical training in the USA, Thailand, Ma
Malaysia,
laysia, France,
Germany, Italy, India, Sri Lanka, and Canada. In addition to running a priva
private
te product design and development prototype shop, Walworth is an
active technical speaker for both college and post-graduate
graduate level instruction as well as at both professional industry and in
in-plant
plant venues.
Walworth holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering
ng Drafting and Design from the University of Alabama.
DR. HANS-JOACHIM GRAF: Hans-Joachim
Joachim Graf has over thirty years experience in the rubber industry. He was first with manufacturing
companies for pharmaceutical and technical rubber parts. He then jo
joined
ined DESMA a manufacturer of Rubber Injection molding and polyurethane
shoe machines responsible for process development, followed by RheinChemie as senior manager of material developments for rub
rubber
ber industry.
After Cooperstandard Automotive (CAN), division
n of profile extrusion, as a director of materials he is today with WOCO (GE), a manufacturer of
injection molded parts in charge for material development and process design. Mr. Graf has authored over 60 publications and paper
presentations and invented more
ore than 15 patents. He has given a rubber technology course for graduates at University of Waterloo and is
teaching courses in recipe design and industrial bonding at University of Hannover (GE) continuing education department. He iiss a member of the
American
can Chemical Society, Deutsche Chemische Gesellchaft and Deutsche Kautschuk Gesellschaft. He received his diploma degree from
University of Mainz and his doctorate in polymer chemistry from University of Freiburg, both Germany. During DKT'12 (German Rubber
Conference 2012) he was awarded with the Erich-Konrad
Konrad Medal of the DKG (German Rubber Society).
