HOLY FAMILY REGIONAL CATHOLIC SCHOOL Grades: Pre-K to Eight 3265 Concord Road, Aston, PA 19014 (610) 494-0147 www.holyfamilyaston.org 4225 CHICHESTER AVENUE • BOOTHWYN, PA 19061 Website: stjohnfisherchurch.com Facebook: Saint John Fisher Phone: (610) 485-0441 E-mail: [email protected] MISSAL COVERS The new liturgical year begins November 29th with the First Sunday of Advent. New Sunday Missals with prayers, readings and hymns will be placed in the pew racks. These Sunday Missals will be inserted into blue hardback covers. The missal covers should last for several years and help keep our missals in better condition. The proper method to use the covers to care for the missal is to have only the back page of the missal inserted into the cover. The blue covers will also include the World Meeting of Families prayer on the inside front cover. SUNDAY SCRIPTURE: Today’s Gospel reading is Matthew 25: 14-30. Key Passage: “The servant said, ‘Master, you gave me five talents. See I have made five more.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master’s joy.’” Adult: What gift have you not developed as you had hoped? What could you still do? Child: What gift has God given you? What do you want to do with it? DON GUANELLA PROPOSAL UPDATE Thank you for your patience as we await further response from Don Guanella Village of Catholic Social Services concerning their proposal to lease 2.65 acres on Chichester Avenue for three group homes for men with developmental disabilities. In addition to providing a new home for the men of Don Guanella and offering opportunities for pastoral ministry, the lease would provide more than $50,000 per year for needed capital improvements for the buildings at our Saint John Fisher site. Don Guanella is currently conducting their due diligence at an adjacent Sproul Road site in Springfield with Saint John Fisher Parish as an alternative. FLU SEASON AND HOLY COMMUNION The reception of Holy Communion will be limited to the Eucharist beginning the First Sunday of Advent, November 30. This will be a temporary change due to the onset of flu season. The Precious Blood will be available for those who are unable to receive the Eucharist. Of course the Church teaches that Christ is fully present, in his body and blood, under each sign. Receiving one species of the Eucharist does not mean that one receives only part of Christ. Christ is fully present under each species. It cannot be denied, however, that communion under both forms is a more complete, fuller sign of the Eucharistic banquet. Thank you for your understanding with this health concern. ATTENTION ALL LECTORS! All lectors should stop and pick up their new missals in the Church. If you have any questions, please contact Regina Robinson at 610-485-0441, ext. 6. WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES PRAYER All parish meetings and groups are encouraged to pray the World Meeting of Families Prayer before parish gatherings. We will also begin to pray this prayer communally at all Masses beginning Saturday, November 29, which is the First Sunday of Advent. The prayer will be found on the inside of the new blue covers for our Sunday Missals. We will recite the prayer together as the Concluding Prayer for the General Intercessions or Petitions. Thank you for your cooperation as we prepare our hearts for this wonderful renewal centered in our Archdiocese. MASS ATTENDANCE The “October Count” assists parish and archdiocesan planning by collecting current and accurate data regarding Mass attendance. Each year, the total number of people attending all Masses in the month of October is recorded. The following is a chart of Saint John Fisher’s 2014 figures: Mass 5:00pm 8:00am 9:30am 11:30am Totals 10/4-5 274 238 289 228 1029 10/11-12 165 165 153 175 658 10/18-19 10/26-27 238 206 249 208 322 190 252 184 1061 788 The total attendance for the month was 3,536 people, with an average weekly attendance of 884 people. We are the best ambassadors to spread the word of our vibrant parish and welcome those who may have lapsed in the practice of their faith or are still seeking to feel at home in our parish. We always welcome our fellow pilgrims in this journey of faith. DISCOUNTED GIFT CARDS FOR SALE! Starting next weekend, we will be selling off our stock of gift cards at DISCOUNTED PRICES!!
