About FRINGE WORLD
FRINGE WORLD Festival is an annual multi-arts Festival held in Perth, Western Australia. FRINGE WORLD 2014
was a massive success and the positive response from the public, media and artists was outstanding. More than
370,000 people attended the 418 free and ticketed events and over $3.2 million was spent at the Box Office
during the four-week festival. The Festival involved 1,788 artists from around the world and 80 venues throughout
the Perth metropolitan.
The vision of FRINGE WORLD is to grow the Festival to be the foremost boutique fringe in the world. The mission
of FRINGE WORLD is to:

Provide enduring benefit for artists, audiences and stakeholders.
In addition to the annual Festival, FRINGE WORLD produces the outdoor cinema Rooftop Movies and regional
touring of De Parel Spiegeltent and FRINGE WORLD shows throughout WA.
FRINGE WORLD Festival 2015 will be held from 23 January to 22 February.
FRINGE WORLD Front of House and Box Office Staff
The Front of House (FOH) and Box Office Staff play a key role in the success of the FRINGE WORLD Festival.
As a representative of FRINGE WORLD, all Front of House (FOH) and Box Office Staff must have a keen interest
and passion for the Festival and have wider interest in arts and culture.

Position Description – FOH Supervisor

Fixed term contract. Required availability from early January to January 23, 2015 (part-time
hours) and January 23 to February 22, 2015 (part-time to full-time hours).
The FOH Supervisors play a key role in ensuring patrons have a great experience at FRINGE WORLD venues in the Perth
Cultural Centre and the Pleasure Garden at Russell Square. This role is responsible for providing excellent customer service
and fielding enquiries from customers regarding site facilities, facilitating the flow of public into venues including maintaining
queues and liaising with venue and Box Office staff.
FOH Roles and Responsibilities
•
Provide all FRINGE WORLD patrons with a positive first impression of FRINGE WORLD by offering superior and
individualised customer service.
•
Maintain an in-depth understanding of all FRINGE WORLD events and facilities in order to respond effectively to
inquiries from FRINGE WORLD customers including patrons, sponsors and artists.
•
Liaise with venue managers and artists to facilitate the timely start of shows and events.
•
Assisting with miscellaneous administrative and production tasks as needed.
•
Assist with production bump in/out if required.
•
Assist with cleaning and maintaining the tidiness of the FRINGE WORLD venues.
•
Ensure staff and customers are safe at all times and that occupational safety and health requirements are
adhered to.
FOH Requirements
•
Previous experience in festival, customer service and/or similar environment.
•
Excellent customer service skills
•
Knowledge of theatre and performance production processes is preferable.
•
Ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure and tight deadlines.
•
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
•
Maintain a friendly, approachable and articulate manner.

Box Office Information Hosts and Sales Advisors: Fixed term contract. Required availability
from early January to January 23, 2015 (casual hours) and January 23 to February 22,
2015 (casual to full-time hours)
The primary responsibility of these positions is to provide FRINGE WORLD audiences with a positive initial experience at
FRINGE WORLD box office outlets. This experience is created by helping guests with accurate and interesting program
information and assisting them in purchasing and/or picking up tickets to FRINGE WORLD events. Box Office staff must be
able to handle high volumes of sales whilst providing FRINGE worthy customer service in a timely manner.
All FRINGE WORLD Festival Box Office staff will have amazing customer service skills and will know the Fringe World Festival
2015 Guide inside and out. We are looking for a number of each of the three roles available: Box Office Supervisors, Box
Office Sales Advisors and Box Office Information Hosts.
Roles and Responsibilities – All Box Office Staff
•
Provide all FRINGE WORLD patrons with a positive first impression of FRINGE WORLD by offering superior and
individualised customer service.
•
Accurately and efficiently operate the FRINGE WORLD computer ticketing system to sell and print tickets for
FRINGE WORLD events in a timely manner.
•
Maintain an in-depth understanding of all FRINGE WORLD events and facilities in order to respond effectively to
inquiries from FRINGE WORLD customers including patrons, sponsors and artists.
•
Responsibly and accurately handle cash, EFTPOS transactions and end of shift reconciliations
•
Assist with cleaning and maintaining the tidiness of the FRINGE WORLD Box Office.
Requirements – All Box Office Staff
•
Previous experience in sales, customer service and/or festival roles is highly favourable
•
Excellent customer service and sales skills
•
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
•
Ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure.
•
Possess a high level of computer literacy

Additional Roles and Responsibilities – Box Office Supervisors
Box Office Supervisors are the team leaders of the Box Offices. In addition to the previously mentioned responsibilities they
also will be required to:
•
Ensure overall coordination of the Box Office staff
•
Work through any customer issues encountered by team members
•
Ensure the Box Office staff understands the festival program and detail of the festival grounds
•
Liaise with the Box Office Coordinator for regular information updates
•
Be an effective and well organised leader within the Box Office
•
Set an example of excellent customer service
•
Monitor team attendance, coordinate staff breaks and speed of service levels
Additional Requirements – Box Office Supervisors
•
Previous experience in a similar supervisory or leadership role is highly favourable
•
Great people management skills and knowledge
•
Strong organisational, interpersonal and problem solving skills
•
The ability to manage effectively in a fast-paced environment
Additional Roles and Responsibilities – Box Office Information Hosts
During peak festival times, Box Office Information Hosts are Box Office Sales Advisors who will roam the areas just outside of
the Box Offices to provide:
•
Quick useful festival information and pointers to customers
•
Answers to general enquiries for customers within the queue
•
Venue / facility direction to customers
•
Specific information on the Festival Guide contents
•
Facilitate effective customer queues (such as priority pickup queues) and general queue movement
Additional Role Requirements – Box Office Information Hosts
•
Previous experience in a similar role is favourable
•
Confidence and willingness to work independently and take initiative
•
Outgoing, enthusiastic and approachable nature
•
Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences
