THANKSGIVING
DAY
Thankless People?
I’m more often like the nine cleansed lepers than the
one who returned to give thanks. See Luke 17: 1119 for the complete story.
I think I represent many of us – Thankless People.
We are rich in turkey and dressing, but poor in thanks; rich in cars &
houses, stocks and bonds, clothes and gadgets, but poor in thanks.
Our thanklessness shows in how little we thank God for our comfortable
lives, both physical and spiritual. When was the last time you thanked
God for your clothes – your bed, etc.? When was the last time you
thanked God for His forgiveness and His care?
Psalm 103 verse 1 and 2 says “ Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost
being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul and forget not all
His benefits.
Here’s what I’m doing this Thanksgiving and Christmas season – the
season of bounty and blessings. So as to not forget all God’s blessings to
me I’m going to read every day Psalm 103 and then spend time in prayer,
praising and thanking God for the many ways He has blessed me.
Care to join me?

Operation Christmas Child: We need your help!
Each year our residents
take part in a handful of
community projects. This
month we will be packing
shoeboxes for Operation
Christmas Child. Each
shoebox is filled with a
mixture of toys and everyday needs like hygiene
items and small clothing
items. We will be stuffing
shoeboxes on the morning
of November 20th. Shoeboxes will be shipped to
countries in need and will
be delivered to children by
local ministry partners of
Samaritan’s Purse.
To complete this project we
are asking for empty shoeboxes and the following items:
small toys, school supplies,
non-liquid hygiene items and
accessories like shirts, socks,
hairclips, hats and sunglasses.
For a more detailed list of
items you can check out the
website mentioned below.
More information can be
found about the
Samaritan’s Purse
Christmas Child
Project at
www.samartitanspurse.org
Donations can be dropped
off to Jessica Spooner anytime until November 19th.
Thank you in advance for
your donations. Look for a
message in our December
newsletter to find out how
many shoeboxes we packed.
