We are lovingly Lutheran.
We worship, learn, serve, and support.
Welcome to Pilgrim! We are glad that you are with us today. If you are seeking a church
home or would like the pastor to call, please fill out one of the information cards in the pew
back in front of you and place it in the offering plate. We also invite you to sign our guest
book located in the narthex near the elevator.
Holy Communion is offered for everyone. This morning, communion will be served by
intinction. As the ushers invite you, please walk down the center aisle, receive a wafer, and
dip it into the chalice of either red wine or white grape juice. Gluten-free wafers are
available. Please indicate to the Pastor if you need one. You may then return to your pew
by the side aisle.
For Our Visitors — Using the Hymnal: Nearly all congregational responses are printed in
the bulletin. If you wish to follow along in the hymnal, page numbers are indicated as “p.”
and are at the front of the hymnal. Hymn numbers are indicated as “#” and begin following
the Psalms about 1/3 into the hymnal.
Refreshments are available before and after worship. Please enjoy in the narthex.

WORD
First Lesson: Ezekiel 34: 11-16, 20-24 (The Message translation)
“‘God, the Master, says: From now on, I myself am the shepherd. I’m going
looking for them. As shepherds go after their flocks when they get scattered, I’m
going after my sheep. I’ll rescue them from all the places they’ve been scattered
to in the storms. I’ll bring them back from foreign peoples, gather them from
foreign countries, and bring them back to their home country. I’ll feed them on
the mountains of Israel, along the streams, among their own people. I’ll lead
them into lush pasture so they can roam the mountain pastures of Israel, graze
at leisure, feed in the rich pastures on the mountains of Israel. And I myself will
be the shepherd of my sheep. I myself will make sure they get plenty of rest. I’ll
go after the lost, I’ll collect the strays, I’ll doctor the injured, I’ll build up the weak
ones and oversee the strong ones so they’re not exploited.
“‘Therefore, God, the Master, says: I myself am stepping in and making things
right between the plump sheep and the skinny sheep. Because you forced your
way with shoulder and rump and butted at all the weaker animals with your
horns till you scattered them all over the hills, I’ll come in and save my dear
flock, no longer let them be pushed around. I’ll step in and set things right between one sheep and another.
“‘I’ll appoint one shepherd over them all: my servant David. He’ll feed them.
He’ll be their shepherd. And I, God, will be their God. My servant David will be
their prince. I, God, have spoken.’”
The Word of the Lord.
C: Thanks be to God.
Psalm 95: 1-7a (sung responsively)
L: O come, let us sing / to the Lord; *
let us make a joyful noise to the rock of / our salvation!
3
C: Let us come into his presence / with thanksgiving; *
let us make a joyful noise to him with / songs of praise!
L: For the Lord is / a great God, *
and a great King a- / bove all gods.
C: In his hand are the depths / of the earth; *
the heights of the mountains / are his also.
L: The sea is his, / for he made it, *
and the dry land, which his / hands have formed.
C: O come, let us worship / and bow down, *
let us kneel before the / Lord, our Maker!
L: For he / is our God, *
and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep / of his hand.
L: Glory to the Father, and / to the Son, *
and to the / Holy Spirit;
C: as it was in the begin- / ning, is now, *
and will be forev- / er. Amen.
Second Lesson: Ephesians 1: 15-23
I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the
saints, and for this reason I do not cease to give thanks for you as I remember
you in my prayers. I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of
glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know
him, so that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may know what is the
hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance
among the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power for us
who believe, according to the working of his great power. God put this power to
work in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right
hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and
dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in
the age to come. And he has put all things under his feet and has made him the
head over all things for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who
fills all in all
The Word of the Lord.
C: Thanks be to God.
* Gospel Acclamation (sung)
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia
p. 102
* Holy Gospel: Matthew 25: 31-46
C: Glory to you, O Lord
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then
he will sit on the throne of his glory. All the nations will be gathered before him,
and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the
sheep from the goats, and he will put the sheep at his right hand and the goats
at the left. Then the king will say to those at his right hand, ‘Come, you that are
blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation
of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave
4
me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked
and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison
and you visited me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when was it that
we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to
drink? And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison
and visited you?’ And the king will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did
it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to
me.’ Then he will say to those at his left hand, ‘You that are accursed, depart
from me into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I
was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not give me
clothing, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ Then they also will answer,
‘Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or
sick or in prison, and did not take care of you?’ Then he will answer them, ‘Truly
I tell you, just as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to
me.’ And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
The Gospel of the Lord.
C: Praise to you, O Christ.

* Apostles Creed (spoken together)
p. 105
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by
the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was
crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third
day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right
hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of
saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life
everlasting. Amen.
