We
appreciate
your support of
Operation Christmas Child by bringing items
for the boxes, by helping pack
boxes and by your monetary
gifts to help buy items and
ship the boxes. Together we
are sending 400 boxes from
our church.
Please pray for our boxes as they ship out this week carrying
the love of Christ to millions of children all over the world.
Pray for the safety of O.C.C. volunteers who are serving in
areas of the world that may be hostile toward Christians.
Pray that every boy and
girl who receives a shoebox will experience God’s
unconditional
love
through this gift.
THANK YOU!

From The
Heart
“I am a pilgrim, and stranger, traveling
through...this worrisome land.” That’s the first line to a
song I’ve sung a number of times over the years at nursing homes and retirement centers. But I don’t think of
“I am a Pilgrim” as just a song for folks who are coming
to the end of their earthly life. I think that this song applies to all of us, especially those of us who have intentionally embarked on the spiritual growth journey in
Christ’s name.
The pilgrims who landed a Plymouth Rock certainly had a very dramatic spiritual journey. They left for a
completely New World. And in a way, when we embark on our own spiritual journey we are headed to a
whole New World as well. Every time we progress in
the spiritual life we come into a “new place” spiritually.
As we continue to grow we come into new spiritual territory with new spiritual opportunities and new spiritual
trials.
I think it helps us in life if we don’t see ourselves as
fixtures here, but rather as those who are just passing
through on a journey to a “greater country.” Our Scripture for this Sunday, Hebrews 11:13-16, describes our
spiritual forbearers as being ones looking for a country
of their own, a heavenly country.
The journey of life is much easier when we really
believe that we are headed to a better country. Our spiritual journey is as exciting and as rewarding as we want
it to be. This Sunday I hope we are all inspired by the
courage and the daring of all those pilgrims who have
gone on before us.
Onward and Upward!
Your Pastor, Dr. D.
THE VISION OF THE CHRISTIAN
CHURCH (DISCIPLES OF CHRIST):
To be a faithful, growing church, that demonstrates
true community, deep Chris an spirituality and a passion for jus ce. (Micah 6:8)

United!
The senior high girls’ youth and I will be having a fun
filled weekend in Little Rock. We are having our first
ever Senior High Girls youth retreat. It was planned on
request from some of the girls in youth. We will be going to Little Rock after school on Friday and returning
Sunday afternoon. We plan to go to the indoor climbing
gym on Saturday and then the trampoline place Saturday
night. Sunday,we will visit the First Christian Church in
Little Rock then have lunch and head home. It should be
a great time of fellowship!

We weren't able to go to the
park after church on Sunday,
but we had a great time at the
children's and youth lunch at
Dairy Queen. Fellowship was
in high gear, and there was ice
cream for everyone. I'm looking forward to the congregational Thanksgiving dinner this
Wednesday night, as it's going
to be another great time of food and fellowship. The holidays are such a special time of year; I hope everyone is
as excited about it as I am!
In Him,
Kim Trublood

Hanging of the Greens
Sunday Nov. 30 at 6:00 PM
This year the worship committee wants to include every member of the
congregation in the fun of decorating the church for Christmas. This will
happen as a PART of the Hanging of the Greens Service. Imagine the
spirit of an old-timey community barn raising.
6:00
Here is the Plan
Everyone arrives and selects a team—wreaths, tree, nativity,
candle etc.
6:00-6:40 Joyous (supervised) pandemonium ensues while the teams
place their items around the building.

What gift will you give this year?
It may seem like a simple question, but as we reflect on the lessons of Advent we
often find that the "stuff" we give falls short of the true gifts of the season - Hope, Joy,
Peace and Love. Global Ministries believes that these rare and precious gifts should be
shared globally.
With an Alternative Christmas Gift you honor your loved ones and make a difference in the lives of people around the world. It is a gift that does not get returned, a gift that
never breaks, a gift that does not require a trip to the overcrowded mall, and a gift that will
be deeply cherished by all who receive it.
This year, Global Ministries invites you to surprise friends and family with a gift
that cannot be found on any shelf - give Hope, give Joy, give Peace, and give Love with an
Alternative Christmas gift.
