Clancy Speaks: As I was posting the school closing information Sunday night, I saw that only 37 families had signed up for my Remind 101. If you are not familiar with Remind 101, it is an application I have on my phone for push notifications. Mine is set up for faculty, students and parents. This allows me to send out brief information like school closings to all those who have signed up to join my Remind group. You can still do this by entering phone number 918-528-4909 in your cell phone and text @mortbmchs as the message. For detailed instructions, see page 3. It is hard to believe Thanksgiving is 10 days away. We are beginning our 15th week of school! It is only appropriate that the final push for our annual Canned Food Drive begins today and ends when the Greater OKC Food Bank trucks pick up at noon on Thursday. Following Mass last Friday, I encouraged all of our students to be a participant. As of last Friday, our students and faculty had accounted for just over 75,000 lbs of food! Little did we know when we started our annual food drive in 1987 that we could ever exceed 1 million lbs in donations in a span of 27 years. I have great confidence that our students and families will help us achieve that milestone and put us on a road toward 2 million lbs in the near future! My hope is that we will not only achieve our goal, but will have 100% participation by our faculty and students. Finally, I leave you with a prayer of Thanksgiving Gratitude from Monsignor Michael Buckley: “Thank you, Father, for having created us and given us to each other in the human family. Thank you for being with us in all our joys and sorrows, for your comfort in our sadness, your companionship in our loneliness. Thank you for yesterday, today, tomorrow and for the whole of our lives. Thank you for friends, for health and for grace. May we live this and every day conscious of all that has been given to us.” HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Safe travels! See everyone back on Monday, December 1st. Bulletin #15! ! What’s ! ! Happening at BMCHS! On Thursday, November 6, Jerry Kelley presented principal David Morton with a $2,500 check from the Catholic Foundation, Inc. The money will fund the “Bits and Bytes of Computer Construction” project that will be part of our Computer Technology curriculum. Five computer assembly kits will be purchased and they will allow the students to gain a deeper understanding of computers, technology and software applications. These kits will provide them with the necessary components to physically create a computer and they will learn how the capacity of storage and speed of components affect their finished product. As the school continues to focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), it strives to provide our students with the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in post-secondary endeavors. Our goal is that this hands-on opportunity will create interest in and enhance our students’ understanding of the complexities of a computer and that this collaborative experience will expand their interest in pursuing additional STEM-type courses. The school is truly grateful for the support of The Catholic Foundation, Inc. who is generous to the many schools and organizations of our Archdiocese. BMCHS would like to celebrate accomplishments that our students are involved in. If your child has received any awards or accomplishments that you consider newsworthy, please email to [email protected] and we will share the news with the BMCHS community.
