Before you leave home, remember to bring these things with you: your regalia ■
(gown, hood, cap and tassel) and your map (on the opposite side of this flier).
Be cautious of wearing tall heels! Remember, you’ll be navigating stairs and slippery
gym floors during the processional, so comfortable footwear is highly recommended.
The Stuart C. Siegel Center is located at 1200 W. Broad St., Richmond, Virginia.
Graduates, please plan to arrive at 8:30 a.m. and enter through the Harrison Street doors.
Family and friends, please note that public entrances will open for the public and guests
at 9 a.m.
Public parking is available at both the West Broad Street and Bowe Street parking ■
decks at no charge.
Handicapped parking spaces are available in both decks.
The following items should not be brought into the Siegel Center: purses and other ■
valuable items, beach balls, silly string, etc. All bags are subject to search upon ■
entrance to the Siegel Center.
Enter the Siegel Center through the doors on Harrison Street. VCU staff will direct you ■
to your line-up area.
All graduates will line up in the Auxiliary Gym, located on the main level of the Siegel
Center. Line-up areas are organized by school and then by degree. Refer to the map ■
on the back of this flier for line-up locations.
Connect with your faculty marshals, who are wearing gold sashes, and line up under
your school degree sign. Be ready by 9:30 a.m., in your full regalia with your tassel ■
hanging on the right side of your cap.
At 9:45 a.m., you will hear an announcement over the loudspeaker to get ready to move.
Your faculty marshals will lead your line out of the Auxiliary Gym and down ■
the stairs to the arena level to await the start of the processional. At 10 a.m. sharp your
marshals will lead you onto the arena floor and into your seats. It takes a while for all
graduates to walk in the processional and get to their seats on the arena floor, ■
so please pay attention, move quickly, keep cell phones in your pockets and follow the
person in front of you closely. Listen for commencement staff who will be directing ■
the processional.
Unless you have an emergency, please refrain from using your cell phone, talking ■
or getting up from your seat once the ceremony starts.
Relax, enjoy your commencement ceremony and reflect upon your outstanding ■
accomplishment!
