Please remember… PFD’s are mandatory on every trip and must be worn zipped up! BILLINGTON SEA KAYAK Explanation of Skill Levels Level One No previous experience is necessary. Level Two Paddler should feel comfortable paddling 6 miles in a day, performing a wet exit, an assisted deep water rescue, maintaining a heading for short distances without the use of a rudder, and turning a kayak using forward and reverse sweep strokes. Level Three Paddler should be able to perform all skills designated as level two. In addition, he or she should be comfortable paddling 10 miles a day and have the skills and stamina to paddle in 5-10 knot winds and 23 foot waves. Level Four Paddler should be able to perform all skills designated as level two and level three. In addition, he or she should be prepared to paddle 15 miles a day and have the skills and stamina to paddle in 20 knot winds. Level Five A level five paddler is one with advanced skills who has extensive experience in challenging conditions. A level five paddler should be able to paddle 30 miles a day and paddle in 25 knot winds with 6-8 foot seas. The paddler should be able to launch and land through surf and be familiar with the Eskimo roll or a reliable self-rescue technique that will serve in rough conditions.
