CHOOSING a FISHING KAYAK
with Jim Smith of Confluence/Wilderness Systems

Focus will be on fly fishing, spin/casting and important
kayak essentials. Jim’s fishing experiences range from
all over the US as well as Wales, Northern Quebec and
Labrador, fishing cold and warm water species using
both fly rod and spinning/casting gear, and tidal waters
for striped bass and blue fish.

PADDLING with KIDS
with Amy Fullerton of Seattle Sports

Amy spends as much time as possible on the waters of Kittery Point, ME where she lives with her husband and kids.
She’s determined to raise children who appreciate adventure
and is not above singing songs about pirates and crocodiles
to help make it happen! From a quick SUP trip around the
pond to an overnight canoe camping expedition, she will
review the logistics of paddling with kids for a safe, fun and
memorable experience.

SELECTING the PERFECT KAYAK PADDLE
with Joseph Vidarte of Werner Paddles

The sure fire way to guarantee more fun while paddling is
to use less energy with a proper fitting paddle and perform
strokes efficiently. Joseph has been paddling for 10 years
and has experience as a sea kayak guide in North Carolina
and St. John, USVI. During his time off from Werner Paddles,
he is either fly fishing from his kayak, stand up paddlesurfing,
whitewater paddling or canoeing.

Paddling 5 miles or 200...everyone needs to get started
somewhere. Learn about distance paddling with BIC
Ambassador Mike Simpson who has paddled around
Puerto Rico, as well as from Key West to Portland, ME.
He has been surfing his entire life and when introduced
to stand up paddleboarding, it was the perfect hybrid of
kayaking and surfing for him.

Learn what factors to consider when deciding which
boat is right for you. Scott has been paddling for over
45 years and, as a sales rep for Johnson Outdoors, has
spent nearly 25 years putting people in the right boat to
suit their needs.

WHAT’S SUP?
INTRO to STAND UP PADDLEBOARDS
with Russ Cowles of BIC

Russ will explain choices in SUP construction, durability
and performance. His career includes paddling whitewater canoes and kayaks and instructing Boy Scouts
on paddling. Russ became an “SUP Convert” several
years ago and currently is an ACA Level 2 SUP instructor.

KAYAK FISHING the NORTHEAST
with Eric Harrison of Kokatat
(Sat 9:45, Rm 37)
A hardcore striper fisherman, Eric has fished just about
every platform from piers to party boats. Most anglers
don’t recognize what a great fishing platform kayaks
are. In this seminar, Eric focuses on the great kayak
fishing opportunities all over the Northeast.

with Blake Longworth of NRS

Whether you’re a fair weather paddler or a foul weather
junkie, this class will help you determine the right gear
to wear for safety and comfort. Blake has worked as a
raft guide & kayak instructor and has paddled in extreme
conditions from July in the Grand Canyon to January
in Northern Idaho. When he isn’t kayaking, rafting or
SUPing, he works as the NRS Field Representative.

Capt. Sparks’ extensive knowledge and passion for striped
bass fishing will offer anglers new techniques and gear options for the best kayak fishing. He has been a tournament
angler & guide for over 20 years, is an expert on inshore
boat/kayak fishing techniques, and a pro staffer for many
leading brands in the industry including Scotty, Bending
Branches and NRS.

Jim has been in the canoe and kayak industry for over 27
years. He’s been involved in retail, wholesale, manufacturing and instruction, as well as guiding multi-day river and
sea kayak trips. When he’s not working or paddling, he’s
probably fly fishing on a favorite piece of water, most likely
out of a canoe or kayak.

FORM & TECHNIQUE with Carl Ladd of P&H Kayaks

Carl and his wife co-founded Osprey Sea Kayak Adventures as a school
focused on sea kayaking and expanded to include surf kayaking and SUP.
He is an ACA Surf Kayak Instructor, Open Water Sea Kayak Instructor and
Advanced Open Water Instructor. Carl has lead trips all over the globe
and is proud to be a team paddler for P&H Kayaks and Werner Paddles.

Tim is a nationally recognized professional angler, licensed NH hunting
and fishing guide, outdoor writer and experienced speaker. He has spent
his entire life hunting and fishing and comes from a long background of
commercial and recreational fishing. As a Pro Staffer for Johnson Outdoors,
he shares his passion for all things natural and fishes salt & fresh water
from his Old Town Predator 13 kayak.

Alvah Maloney, owner & founder of Maine Kayak, was raised in the paddling
industry and has also spent significant time sea kayaking and mountaineering. Jeremy has been guiding and instructing with Maine Kayak for 8 years
and has spent significant time leading kayaking expeditions that have taken
him all over the world.

SUP 101 AND BASIC FITNESS with Casi Rynkowski of BIC
(Sun 1:45)
Knowing the basics of paddling ahead of time can make your first time on
the water more relaxing. Learn about your new board, basic paddling skills,
and how to create a heart-pounding workout on your SUP. Casi is an AFAA
certified personal trainer and ACA level 2 SUP instructor.

SUP YOGA BASICS with Anne Biddle of BIC

Learn some basic yoga positions you can do on your SUP. Whether you’re
a yoga practitioner or not, Anne gives you the tools you need to get started.
She discovered paddleboarding in 2007 and hasn’t stopped since. She
has also been practicing yoga for over a decade and decided to merge
the two activities. Anne is a RYT 200-hour yoga instructor, H2YO certified
SUP yoga instructor, and certified SUP instructor.

with Alicia Rossman & Amy Pidhurney of Glide

Alicia is a registered yoga teacher and dietitian. She has been practicing
yoga for 11 years. When she discovered stand up paddleboarding, it became one of her many passions. Combining both yoga and paddleboarding
can be very calming, peaceful, and even a great work out. With practice,
balance and confidence, she believes anyone can paddle.

SUP YOGA FITNESS with Nikki Gerome of Pau Hana

World Paddle Association Certified Paddle-Fit® SUP Fitness Coach Nikki
Gerome will demonstrate safety tips, proper paddle technique and a brief
fitness routine with a yoga cool down. This is a great introduction to the
world of stand up paddling and Nikki’s enthusiasm is contagious!
