Reverend Father Kenneth Samuel Fulton
Elwin W. (Steve) Stevens

Reverend Father Kenneth Samuel Fulton was born to Raymond
and Helena (Zoeller) Fulton on
January 3, 1923, in Oklahoma
City. He left this earthly life
on April 5, 2014, in Tulsa. Preceded in death by his parents, he
is survived by his loving sister
and caretaker, Berenice (Fulton)
Walton; nieces, Alena Kelly and
Kendra Seacat; nephews, Gregory Walton and Kenneth Walton;
their children; and cousin, Rev.
Ben Zoeller, of the Oklahoma City Diocese.
Fr. Fulton was ordained a Catholic priest
May 27, 1950. His irst assignment was Assistant Pastor, Sacred Heart, in Oklahoma
City. While there, he served as Athletic Director for Mount St. Mary School. In 2009
the school renamed their football ield “Father Kenneth Fulton Field” in his honor.
He subsequently served numerous Oklahoma parishes, mostly in the Tulsa area,
until his retirement and 50th Jubilee as
priest in May 2000. He was loved by all his
parishioners and fellow priests. He was an

avid bowler, golfer, and life-long
fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
After retirement he lived with
his sister, Berenice, in Tulsa, and
continued to ofer Mass daily in
his home until recently, when
his health deteriorated.
He
kept in contact with over 500
former parishioners through
Christmas greetings and personal contact with many friends.
Wake will be 7 PM, Wednesday, April 9, and Requiem
Mass will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, April
10, both at Holy Family Cathedral. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, Tulsa.

Everett Hoppis

Everett Hoppis, 81, passed away
at home on April 6, 2014. Everett
was born in 1932 to Alvie and
Mary (Braden) Hoppis in Hasty,
AR. Preceded in death by wife,
Georgia of 54 years; parents,
Alvie and Mary Hoppis; sister,
Hazel Hoppis; brothers, Webber,
Argie, Bobby, and Jesse Hoppis.
Everett Hoppis married Georgia Campbell and moved to
Tulsa in 1955 where they raised
their family of five children. An
Army veteran, a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, he
was employed at Maloney-Crawford/
Parkersburg Tank, Western Supply, Trinity Industries and others until retirement
in 1997. He was a devoted husband, father,
grandfather, and great-grandfather whose
life was centered on his family and would
go out of his way to help family, friend,
or neighbor. He will be greatly missed.
Everett was a member of Southeast
Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing,
hunting, gardening, attending bluegrass
festivals, and spending time with his
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

(Shelly) of Tulsa, OK; sister, Martha Reece of Fresno, CA; brothers,

Reece, Megan Bolen, Justin, and Jacob Hoppis; four great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Wednesday, April
9th, at Moore Eastlawn Chapel. A memorial
service will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April
10th, at Southeast Baptist Church, 1402
South Memorial Drive. There will also be a
Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April
11th, at Hasty Holiness Church in Hasty, Arkansas with interment following at Sand Hill

Elwin W. Stevens (Steve), of
Troy, N.Y., died in Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 3, 2014. Elwin was
born in Hoosick Falls, NY on February 21, 1923, and was a graduate
of Hoosick Falls High School and
Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute,
Class of 1945. He served as Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy on the
U.S.S. Sampson during WWII and
was in charge of damage control.
Elwin taught at R.P.I. until 1952
when he became the University Architect for the State University of New York
System until his retirement in 1990. Elwin
was predeceased by his wife of 51 years,
Margaret J. Allen; his parents, Frank and
Ethel Stevens; his sister, Camilla Cottrell;
brother, Leslie Stevens; and sister, Minnie
Stevens. He is survived by his four children:
Dennis J. Stevens and wife, Fran of Delmar,
NY; Jan Stevens of Tulsa, OK; Elin StevensWebb and husband, Jefrey Webb of Tulsa,
OK; and Annie Stevens and partner, Kim
Howard of South Burlington, VT. He is also
survived by three amazing grandchildren:
Megan Ann Stevens, Ani Stevens Webb,
and Steven Elison Webb. Also surviving are
niece, Natalie Gleason, and nephew, Steven
Cottrell. Elwin was inducted into R.P.I.’s
Athletics Hall of Fame in 1997 for baseball,
basketball and football and remembered as
a “tough, single-minded, hard-nosed player
on and of the ield.” In 1989, he received
the Charles Evans Hughes award for outstanding service to the State University of
New York. The Association of University
Architects in 1988 honored Elwin with the

Jim Johnston
Jim Johnston, born August 8, 1941 in Tulsa,
OK, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014 in
Tulsa, OK. Preceded in death by his beloved
wife, Mary Johnston, July 28, 2011 after
28 years of marriage. Jim attended Cascia
Hall, St. Gregorys, Edison High School and
University of Tulsa. Jim spent over 30 years
in the funeral industry owning and eventually operating Riverside Funeral Home in
the late ‘80s in addition to his retail liquor
business and several real estate investments
in Tulsa and Tulsa County. At the onset of
9/11, Jim went to work for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security retiring a final
time in 2007. Jim was a U.S. Army veteran
serving in active duty and active reserves

Distinguished Service Award, recognizing him as a national igure
in public higher education. Elwin
was a third generation brick
mason by trade, architect by profession, and skilled chef and wood
worker by hobby. In 1949 on the
outskirts of Troy, he designed and
built the family home, doing all
of his own construction. Over the
next 65 years he would continue
to design and build: outbuildings,
a clay tennis court, an arboretum,
and outdoor art. In 1976, Elwin built the
Poestenkill Power Corporation hydroelectric project, which generated electricity
on the property for many years. In his 70’s
and 80’s he became a proliic furniture
maker for his family. A renaissance man
and conservationist, Elwin was ahead of his
time. It was in the Navy where he learned
to play the game of cribbage, which later
in life became the basis of raucous family
tournaments. He was an avid Red Sox fan,
loathed the Yankees, and loved watching
women’s and men’s college basketball. He
was a skilled tennis and squash player, and
his booming voice could be heard among
friends who were “compelled” to wear their
tennis whites. Elwin had a sharp mind,
quick wit, and was a man of deep family
tradition; none of his children or grandchildren have ever missed a Christmas at the
family home. A big-hearted man, generous
friend, and devoted husband and father,
he will be deeply missed. A private family
memorial will be held later in the spring.

Pauline Culver Davis was born
June 9, 1922, in Corbin, Kentucky
to Barton and Orena (Ellison)
Culver. She died Sunday, April
6, 2014, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at
the age of 91 years. Pauline was
reared and educated in Williamsburg, Kentucky where she graduated high school then continued
her education attending Cumberland College. She completed her
education earning her Master’s
Degree in teaching at Oklahoma
City University. She was married August
29, 1941, in Loyall, Kentucky, to James Robert Davis. Pauline spent her working life in
public education as a teacher in Oklahoma
City and Enid. She and her husband had
made their home in Owasso since 1983.
She was a faithful member of John Calvin
Presbyterian Church in Tulsa. She enjoyed
a variety of pastimes, particularly playing
bridge. Her family was most important to



