Notes for William Humphrey: Parents of this William Humphrey were found on Willliam's Oregon Death Certificate. No attempt was made to research them further. Ancestry.com shows conflicting information. We do believe that William's parents did not leave Missouri. William Humphrey married Mollie Stockton in Gentry Co., Missouri on the first of January 1885. The family came to Oregon in 1900. The first eight children were born in Gentry Co., Missouri between 1885 and Dec, 1898. The last three children were born in Lane Co., Oregon between 1902 and 1906. The 1900 U.S. Federal Census shows William and Mollie and seven children living in the Zumwalt precinct of Lane County, Oregon. William was a farmer, renting the farm. They had been married for 15 years. Mollie is shown as the mother of 8 children with 7 living. (To help with the location, Zumwalt precinct was part of Enumeration District 0109 which also included Irving District and Bailey District.) By the time of the 1910 U.S. Federal Census, the family was enumerated in the Richardson Precinct of Lane County, Oregon. [It is probable the family did not move; but the enumeration district boundaries did.] The family included William and Mollie and 9 children. William was a farmer owniing a general farm which was mortgaged. Mollie is listed as the mother of 9 children with 7 living. (One child had been stillborn in Missouri, and one child, William "Willie" was born and died in 1904. Oregon Death Records show that William died on the 26th of January 1911. At the time of the 1920 U.S. Federal Census, Mollie and Vinson were both shown as farmers, working on their "own accord" in the Lone Pine Precinct of Lane County, Oregon. Minor daughters, Rosie and Pernecia were living with them. By the time of the 1930 U.S. Federal Census, Vinson was a laborer working on a road crew in the Mapleton area. Mollie was retired and living alone on West Sixth Avenue in Eugene. At the time of the 1940 U.S. Federal Census, Mollie was still at the same place and her son James, a hotel clerk was living with her. She died on the 19th of June, 1940. Luper Cemetery Research This document does not claim to be an exhaustive report on this name or this family. The purpose is to examine where the families in Luper Cemetery came from before they settled in the north Eugene/Irving/south Junction City area, where the family members went after the death of these family members, and how they might relate to others buried in Luper Cemetery. This family has been thoroughly researched and documented using Ancestry.com, Eugene Register-Guard newspapers at Google News Archive, State birth, marriage and death certificates, city directories and more. This research was done using Family Tree Maker software with ability to search Ancestry.com and add those findings. I would be happy to share sources and/or discuss any discrepancies.
