John and Margaret Borden think they’ve
been here for every one of those years.
The Bordens, who live on Cooper Point,
brought their camper and set out lawn chairs, sharing the
time with extended family.
“It’s relaxing,” John Borden said, adding that he had no
desire to set off fireworks on his own. “It’s a good thing to do
with family.”

The American Legion Band was set up near PetSmart, ready to entertain while the crowd waited for dusk. A festival
with inflatable rides was set up for family fun, and vendors were scattered among the parking rows.
Most of the 1,500 available parking stalls at the mall were filled by 7 p.m., said Chuck Walsh, maintenance supervisor

The other half of the parking lot was blocked off for the fireworks display, which was planned to be “bigger and
longer” than in past years, Walsh said. No ground displays were planned for this year, leaving more time and money
for aerials and larger shells, he said. He said the crowd is generally mellow, especially since the City of Lacey
banned personal fireworks.
Walsh has worked for 28 of the 43 shows. He began his day at 7 a.m. and 12 hours later was sweating in the heat
reflecting off the pavement. “It would have to be the hottest day of the week,” he said.

it is bullcrap, that people double park their cars..I wanted to go into target for something quick. I could not
find a parking slot, at 730pm with hardly anyone in the store. Teenagers are a bigger problem, who do not
care where they are, and who they pis+s off.
Set some boundress around the enterance of the stores who are still conducting buiness, PLEASE!!!!
There should be NO SAVES!!! Carpol.
