All Saints Methodist Church For Infomation: Appleford Drive

For Infomation:
`Have you got your `Advent Book` yet? - one of the most important
preparations for Christmas! Each year we need a new perspective on the most
wonderful event in His-story. BRF have produced two good books:-Rachel
Boulding`s `Companions on the Bethlehem Road` and Trystan Owain Hughes`
`Real God in the Real World`, both reflections and readings for Advent. They
are both priced at £7.99.`- Order from Beryl Fudge.
There are three Prayer Manuals left - someone hasn`t got one that had one
last year!
You may have read about the proposed cuts to Childrens' Centres in
Oxfordshire. In Abingdon, the proposals will mean the loss of both Childrens'
Centres and The Abingdon Hub. This will hit South Abingdon families
particularly hard. There is a model letter available in the foyer, if you wish to
write to Oxfordshire County Council about this or an online consultation
gives you an opportunity to comment on cuts to council services

Abingdon Emergency Foodbank : Thanks to who give so generously to the
Foodbank. Please continue to give tins of meat and fish; tinned vegetables
(peas, potatoes, carrots); tinned fruit; jam; sugar (including 500 g packs); instant
coffee; UHT milk and UHT fruit juice; orange/blackcurrant squash. (We have
plenty of baked beans, tinned tomatoes, soup, pasta and tea for the moment!).
Leave your donations in the box in the All Saints foyer.
Could you be hospitable this Christmas? HOST, a well-established charity,
is hoping to hear from people would love to meet young adults from other parts
of the world who are currently studying at UK universities. Invitations can be for
a day, a weekend, or 3 days. Sharing Christmas with someone who has little
idea what it is, can be really special – and for the guest, much better than being
on a deserted campus. Volunteer hosts are urgently needed. To find out more,
please see www.hostuk.org or contact HOST UK on 020 7739 6292
Share Christmas with older people. Methodist Homes (MHA) is asking us to
share the joy of Christmas with older people this year. Could you take the time
to write just one extra Christmas card which will be passed to an older person
cared for by MHA? For more details email Lesley France
[email protected] or click here for an order form.
Letter to Lord Freud. Christian leaders, including the Right Revd Bishops Tim
Stevens and Nick Baines and the President of the Methodist Conference, the
Revd Ruth Gee, have criticised Lord Freud, Minister for Welfare Reform, for
failing to apologise on behalf of the government for misrepresenting the poor.
