Christine Thiesen Shields, 98, died Tuesday (Aug. 12, 2014) in Charlotte, N.C.
She was born in Atlanta on June 16, 1916, the daughter of Mary Traylor Thiesen and Rudolf John
Thiesen.
She was educated at Washington Seminary in Atlanta and Gunston Hall in Washington, D.C.

Pinkie Gilliard Lee
Pinkie Gilliard Lee, 95, died Saturday morning (Aug. 18, 2014) at Bayview Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Nahunta following an extended illness.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Ware County and last surviving charter member of Hephzibah Baptist Church in Dixie Union.
She was a daughter to the late Alfred Gilliard and Ida Sweat Gilliard. She was married to the late
William Henry Lee and also preceded in death by two sons, William Bernard Lee and Larry Eugene
Lee, a granddaughter, Melissa Lee Wassing, and six siblings, Grover Gilliard, E.S. Gilliard, Purdum
Gilliard, Carswell Gilliard, J.W. “Jay Bird” Gilliard and Helen Cole.
She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Lee Murray (husband Roger), of Blackshear; a son, Charles
Alfred Lee, of Walterboro, S.C.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, BonLee
nie Lee, of Waycross; a sister, Elven Fowler, of Shannon; and numerous nieces, nephews and other
relatives.
A funeral was to be held at 11 a.m. this morning (August 18, 2014) at the Hephzibah Baptist Church. Burial was to follow in Hephzibah Cemetery.

Charles Warren Jr.
PATTERSON — Charles Warren Jr., 68 of Patterson, passed away Friday evening (Aug. 15, 2014)
at his residence following a sudden illness.
He had lived in Camden County for many years before moving to Patterson in 2003. He was born
to Charles “Jack” Warren Sr. and the late Thelma Wright Warren in Screven on June 21, 1946.
He resided in Patterson with his wife, Barbara Johnson Warren, and grandson, Phillip Griffin Jr. He
served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam conflict and retired from the U.S. Air National Guard.
He was employed with Gilman Paper Company, St. Marys, for more than 30 years until its closure.
He then became employed with Dixie Egg Co. in Blackshear for the last 14 years as an over-the-road
driver.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hunting, gardening and woodworking. He was a devoted

husband and loving son, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a member of Bristol Baptist Church
Besides his mother, also preceding him in death was his brother, Donald Warren.
Survivors include his father, Charles “Jack” Warren Sr., of Patterson; his wife, Barbara Johnson Warren, of Patterson;
a sister, Mary Rowland, of Patterson; his children, Eugene and Stephanie Warren, of Kingsland, Patricia Henderson, of St.
Marys, Beckie and Roy Ranew, of Metter, Lee and Jennifer Griffin of Kingsland, Karen and Jim Herndon, of Kingsland,
and Sam and Shannon Griffin, of Jesup; grandchildren, Alex Warren, Alexis Warren, Sheena Burnsed, Tony Intravia, Curtis Intravia, Dewayne Griffin, Madison Warring, Clara Griffin, Hunter Griffin, Kristie Brazell, Phillip Herndon, Kale
Strickland, Phillip Griffin, Brooklyn Griffin, William Griffin; one great-grandchild, Ellie Mae Warren; and several nieces,
nephews and other relatives.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Bristol Baptist Church.
Interment will be in the Bristol Cemetery.
Visitation will be held this evening from 5 until 7 at the funeral home.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Andrew ‘Ander’ Tyre Sr.
Andrew Jackson “Ander” Tyre, Sr., 92, passed away Friday evening (Aug. 15, 2014) at his residence following a lengthy
illness.
Born in Patterson on Jan. 18, 1922, he had lived in Pierce County all of his life. He was a carpenter and had also farmed
(he loved his cows). He was of the Baptist faith, a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II, loved his grandchildren and will be remembered as a simple yet firm man.
He was a son of the late Christopher Hugh and Addie Mae Strickland Tyre. He was also preceded in death by his wife,
Nola Mae Thornton; a daughter, Audrey Fay Tyre; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Juno and Jim Cole and Mildred and
Clyde Deal; two brothers and a sister-in-law, C. H. Jr. and Margaret Tyre, and Cecil Tyre; and a brother-in-law, Lloyd
Long.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Andy Aspinwall and Virginia and Mike Foster, all of Patterson; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Larry and Linda Tyre, Jack and Juanita Tyre, Arthur Tyre, and David and Tina
Tyre, all of Patterson; a sister, Susie Long, of Jesup; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews
and other relatives.
The funeral is to be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at Offerman Baptist Church.
Interment will be in the Foster Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

William G. McClellan
William Grafton McClellan, 85, of Hoboken, passed away Saturday afternoon (Aug. 16, 2014) at Hospice House of Waycross following a brief illness.
Born in Waycross, his parents were the late Demory and Vadie Lee Mercier McClellan. He was also preceded in death
by his wife, Colleen Rhoden McClellan, a son, William Grafton McClellan Jr., a daughter, Bonnie Elrod, and a sister,
Elizabeth Loutrell Mcbee.
He was of the Baptist faith. He had worked many years as a mechanic for the City of Waycross. He loved fishing, and
he loved his dog “Bozo” very much.
Survivors include, a son and his wife, Bobby and Linda Accord, of Blackshear; a daughter and her husband, Linda and
Framan Crews, of Hoboken; his sister and her husband, Loreta M. and Juanluis Viruett, of Blackshear; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; three special great-great-grandchildren, Chloe and Kylie Newman and Pasly Boatwright;
and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A graveside service is to be held today at 2 p.m. at New Hope Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Florey officiating.
Visitation will be held prior to services starting at 1:30 p.m. at the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Juanluis Viruett, Bobby Accord, Keith Duncan, Justin Strickland and Timmy Crews. All pallbearers
are asked to be at cemetery by 12:45 p.m. today.

A funeral for David H. Herrin was held Saturday morning at Deenwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Andy Piland and
the Rev. Richard Jeffers officiating. Burial followed in Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Caleb Walker, Jacob Newsom, Will Freeman, Michael Jeffers, Alex Stephenson, Ben Hodges, Jake
Stephenson and Justin Strickland.
