Family companies are becoming few and far between. The number of
companies with two generations working together is sadly dwindling. East
Coast is proud to stand stalwart against these statistics. After acquiring
her M.A. from NYU in 2010, Elizabeth DuPree, granddaughter of Stan Klet,
came on board as Director of Marketing making East Coast one of the first
companies in our industry to have four generations of family involved in the

The pride we have in our roots strengthens us as we look ahead to the future.
With this line of sight we would like to announce that after 80 years on this
planet and 55 years in the pilot’s seat, Stan Klet is stepping down from his
position as President of East Coast Salon Services. This is not a retirement
announcement. As any who know Stan can imagine, he will not be retiring.
Instead, he has chosen this moment to pass the leadership baton to his
youngest daughter, Kara. Kara has been a beacon of leadership in her position
as executive vice president which she took on after spending decades on the
road as a top sales person.
Stan’s whole family continues the tradition of dedication and enthusiasm
for the industry. His eldest daughter, Kim DuPree, has worked as Director of
Education for over 30 years and continues to thrive in that path. Kris Smith,
Stan’s middle daughter has been a stellar sales person for decades and is
happy to keep the family spirit out on the road and in the salons!
Stan is honored and amazed by the women in his family and cannot wait to
see what they accomplish with the company he built. If you happen to come
looking for Stan, you can find him at the heart of the company, in the position
he has always truly held: troublemaker.
