of Performing Arts. Our tremendous staff continues to challenge our students in music, theatre and
dance.

In order to provide flexible scheduling and savings to
our patrons, WCT&DC offers a Family Punchcard,
which may be used for Mainstage, Once Upon a
Time, Dance, and Picnic Theatre Shows. This card
also gives a 10% discount on classes and birthday
parties. To insure seats for a specific performance,
call for advance reservations.

Individual tickets are $6.00 each. Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more at $5.00 per ticket.
In order to receive the group rate, one person or organization must be responsible for a single payment.
School group tickets will be $4.00 per person. For lunch or dinner performances, regular admission tickets
are $7.50 per person (includes pizza and beverage) and group discount tickets are $6.50. Show only tickets

“Trick or Treat Street” is a safe non-scary Halloween-themed charitable fund-raising event
for children under 10 years of age. Children are encouraged to come in costume and “trick
or treat” at sixteen doors along an imaginative “street.” Costumed volunteers distribute
novelties, candy, and sponsor-related items at each door. The value of the experience is
increased by a new musical entitled Trick or Treat Street, Halloween-themed music, Soapy
the Clown, entertainment, games, special activities, and the overall enchanting ambiance that
has been created JUST for young children.
Located at Wichita Children’s Theatre & Dance Center, 201 Lulu, Trick or Treat Street is the ideal
Halloween event for young children accompanied by their parents and/or grandparents.

KRISTINE ANDERSON moved to Wichita from Minneapolis, Minnesota where she directed a
Youth Ballet Company. Her choreographic credits include Nutcracker, Coppelia, and Sleeping
Beauty, among others. She has a BFA in ballet from the University of Utah and has performed
with the Brelsfoard Dance Theatre Co. in Chicago, Arizona Ballet Theatre, and Minnesota
Dance Theatre.
HEATHER JOURNELL is a professional actress and singer, who has performed in several
theatres in Wichita, including Wichita Center for the Arts, Big Mike’s Little Theatre, and
Wichita Children’s Theatre. She has studied theatre and music at Butler Community College
and Stetson University. This is Heather’s fifth year teaching for WCT&DC.
STEPHANIE BOYLE has a BA in Art History from Washburn University. Originally from
Concord, MA, she studied and taught dance with the West Concord Dance Academy for 11
years. While teaching first and second grade at an International School in Cascais, Portugal,
she performed with the Portuguese International Dance Academy.
RESA-MARIE COTTON is attending Wichita State University majoring in Dance. Resa-Marie
has attended Summer Intensive Programs with Ballet Austin, Ballet Met in Columbus, Ohio,
The Rock School of Dance in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and American Ballet Theatre in
Austin, Texas. She has also had the privilege of dancing in Ballet Wichita’s productions such
as the Nutcracker and Ballet in the Park. She is excited to be teaching where she first learned
how to dance at the age of four, and where she continued to dance through graduation.
DENISE CELESTIN, Professor of Dance at Wichita State University, received her early training
in New Orleans and completed the MFA in Ballet from the Texas Christian University. She
performed with the New Orleans Ballet, Fort Worth Ballet, Fort Worth Opera, and Ballet Met
of Columbus, Ohio and served on the faculties of the Ballet Met Academy, Otterbein College,
and the Ohio State University. Ms. Celestin participated as a coach in the USA International
Ballet Competition in Jackson, Mississippi, and has choreographed a wide range of works
for ballet and opera. Her choreography has been presented throughout Europe and parts of
Asia. She has received numerous awards including an Individual Artist Fellowship Award
for Choreography from the Kansas Arts Commission in 2001, the Mortar Board Educator’s
Appreciation Award, and the WSU President’s Award for Distinguished Service in 2005. She
is also a Dorothy Johansen Hauck Faculty Fellow in Dance. Ms. Celestin has studied teaching
methods at Canada’s National Ballet School Teacher’s Seminars in Toronto, Canada, and
at the International Vaganova Method Conference/Demonstration in St. Petersburg, Russia.
SHANNAN GRILLIOT is a former student of WCT&DC having danced here for 13 years. She
is a graduate of WSU with a major in Nursing and a minor in Dance. Shannan has performed
with WTC&DC, Ballet Wichita, Music Theatre of Wichita, WSU Dance Ensemble, & the MidAmerica Dance Theater.
KATIE HARMON is a graduate of Friends University where she double majored in Musical
Theatre and Math Education. While attending Friends, she was also a member of the Singing
Quakers. Katie has been performing since 1990. In the past, she has performed for the
Wichita Center for the Arts and the Once Upon A Time Players at WCT&DC. She is currently
a teacher for USD 259.
JOICE HENRY has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance from SUNY at Buffalo. She
also received her certification from Dance Master’s of America “Teacher’s Training School”
to teach in all disciplines. Past performance credits include “Swing!”, “Steel Pier”, “Walt
Disney World”, Sesame Street Live’s “Elmo’s Coloring Book” National Tour, and Broadway’s
“Evita” North American Tour to name a few. Joice has recently received her certification to
teach Zumba. She is pleased to work with young people and share her experiences in dance
and theatre with them in classes and shows as well.
SUZIE JESTER-SHOGREN is a graduate of Butler Community College where she majored in
Elementary Education and received a dance scholarship. She studied dance for 18 years and
is currently a 2nd grade teacher for USD 259.

Patty Kirkpatrick has been involved with WCT&DC since the age of five and recently
served as the 2010-2011 Touring Company Manager. She holds a BA in Music Theatre and
a BA in Communications from Friends University, where she was a memeber of the Singing
Quakers and the Act of Faith drama team. She has also worked at Walt Disney World in
Orlando, Florida.
JILL LANDRITH was a soloist with the Aachen Ballet in Germany, after an apprenticeship
with Ballet Met in Columbus, Ohio. Her ballet training began in Wichita, with June Landrith,
she then studied extensively in New York City with David Howard, Maggie Black, and at the
Joffrey School. Jill has been Artistic Director of Ballet Wichita since 1997, is a University
Lecturer in Dance at WSU, and was Director of the Nancy Hervey School of Ballet. She was
recently a guest teacher for the Washington Ballet School in D.C. and has also been a guest
teacher in New Jersey and Florida. Jill has also received several grants to work with disabled
students in dance projects with USD 259.
BRENDA LAWTON earned her undergraduate degree in theatre and music from Northwestern
University and an MFA in theatre arts from the University of Iowa. She has 19 years experience
teaching children’s theatre. Before joining the faculty of WCT&DC in 1998, she taught at the
Children’s Theatre of Western Springs in the Chicago area, working with students to create
original dramas. She has also performed at theatres in Iowa and Chicago.
BETH SMITH has a Bachelor in Fine Arts from WSU where she performed with the Mid
America Dance Theater and WSU Dance Ensemble. Her passion for dance began while she
was growing up performing with Ballet Wichita and the Nancy Hervey School of Ballet. After
graduation she went on to dance at Walt Disney World. She returned to teach at WSU and
Nancy Hervey School of Ballet and also at schools in Pennsylvania and Texas.
JULIE SHARP a native of Illinois is a graduate of Butler Community College with an Associate
in Arts Degree. While at Butler, she was a member of their dance team and Headliners show
choir, serving as their dance captain. Before arriving in Kansas, Julie had studied dance and
performance for fifteen years. She currently plays French horn in the CCC orchestra. She has
choreographed for various community theaters; show choirs, churches, and pageants. She
has also done some private teaching.
MICHELLE VARDAMAN earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music with and emphasis in opera and
a minor in piano pedagogy and accompaniment from Wichita State University. She then
received certification for Italian and Opera History from The Istituto Europo in Florence, Italy.
Mrs. Vardaman will receive her Masters in Vocal Education from WSU in December 2012. She
opened Michelle’s Music Studio in 1996 and has been teaching piano, voice, and theatrical
coaching for the last 16 years. She has performed with Opera Kansas, Cowtown Empire
House, Scottish Rite Signature Theatre, and WSU Opera Theatre.
Kyle Vespestad has worked professionally as an actor with Cabaret Old Town, Crown
Uptown, and Mosley Street Melodrama. He has worked for WCT&DC since 1996 as a performer
and director. Kyle has written several original musical reviews.
MADDY WONSETLER studied dance at WCT&DC for 15 years, beginning at the age of three.
In recent years she has studied at Ballet Magnificat! in Jackson, Mississippi, Kansas City
Ballet, and The Kirov Ballet in Washington D.C. She also spent a year of study at The Joffrey
Ballet School in NYC. Maddy has taught young dancers for the last six years.
