Classes & Camps Once again, the City Dance program will offer evening dance classes at Pine Camp. Classes will be held Tuesday through Thursday, and are to include Ballet, Tap, Hippety-Hop, Hip-Hop, Jazz and Modern Dance. A Performing Arts Camp July 28 – August 16 Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Intermediate Tap 420361 – 04 to participate fully in each dance experience. A weekly demonstration for parents is held each Friday at 4 p.m. Campers may also enter their name in a free drawing, which will give the lucky winner a scholarship for the dance program’s fall semester, plus a pair of dance shoes for their favorite class. One-week dancers are eligible to enter, and need not be present to win. One final note: Last year several of the participants returned for our performing company’s open auditions in the fall and were accepted as new members. If your child is interested in performing and competing, this is the chance to be seen and invited back to the try-outs! Ages 10+ 6:30 p.m. Those preparing for CDT auditions should take Modern, Ballet and Hip-Hop Summer Camps Destination Dance! Summer Dance Camp July 7 – July 25 Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. 425301 – 00 Ages 8 – 14 Camp participants will learn the basics of Jazz, Ballet, Tap and Modern Dance. Also included in the curriculum are African Dance, Basic Gymnastics and Hip-Hop. Lyrical Dance and/or Ethnic dances will also be introduced. Loose, stretchy, comfortable clothing is suggested. No jeanswear items. Girls should not wear skirts. Bring your own dance shoes if you have them. If you wish to borrow tap shoes, please bring a pair of thin cotton socks to wear with them. Federal lunches will be available. Campers may bring their own lunches if preferred. Two healthy and nutritious snacks are also offered each day to campers. Participants are expected to be cooperative with all staff and 425301 – 03 Ages 8 – 14 Campers will express themselves through an awesome array of theatrical arts. Classes offered include drama, improvisation, voice, music (percussion), jazz dance (or gymnastics) and art-work. Some of Richmond’s best instructors, each an expert in their own field, will be teaching the basics, with a final performance scheduled for family and friends. Each year the play presented features a story or myth from another country, so learning about different cultures is incorporated into the curriculum. Campers should dress in loose, comfortable clothing and bring their own lunch daily, except on Fridays, when lunch is provided. Additionally, two nutritious and healthy snacks will be served each day. Campers are expected to be cooperative with staff and should be prepared to participate fully in all sessions. It should be noted that this camp is appropriate for boys as well as girls.
