Foundation UPDATE VOLUME 16 Winter 2011 PO Box 1118, West Perth Western Australia 6872 Telephone: (08) 9340 8330 [email protected] childcancerresearch.com.au OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER OF THE CHILDREN’S LEUKAEMIA & CANCER RESEARCH FOUNDATION (INC.) Family Night Success Continued on page two Sir Ian Botham Breakfast Late last year the Foundation was contacted by Paul Chapman of Blue Sky Communications & Profile Management company asking whether the Foundation wanted to be involved with an event featuring the legendary cricketer, Sir Ian Botham, who was in Perth commentating on the Ashes Test. Tickets to the pre-play champagne breakfasts, held at Black Toms and MC’d by Tim Gossage, sold like ‘hot cakes’. Paul Chapman sourced a number of sporting memorabilia items for auction - to name a few - Ian Botham signed bats, Dennis Lillee limited edition signed photo and Jeff Thomson signed photo. Foundation Patron, Justin Langer also kindly donated some signed bats. Those that attended heard some interesting tales from Sir Ian and were very generous in donating over $9,400 via the auction. Successful cricket bat bidder Ollie Whittingham of the Oracle Group with Sir Ian Botham Get With the Strength by Wendy Kearns During December last year I had the pleasure of meeting with Danielle Kelly-Cook at the Victoria Park branch of the Commonwealth Bank Australia to accept, on behalf of the Foundation, a cheque for $500.00. The donation was made possible through the Branch’s Community Engagement Program. Throughout December branches around the country donated their time fundraising for local community groups and charities. The program offers the staff a chance to become more visible in the community. A Big Thank You to all Foundation Supporters To those people and organisations that have raised funds for the Foundation - a HUGE thank you for your wonderful support. Without your assistance we could not continue to fund the life-saving research into childhood cancers. Also to those people who have contributed to this edition of the newsletter - THANK YOU for your efforts, they are greatly appreciated. And a REALLY big thank you! To all those wonderful people that have supported the Children’s Leukaemia & Cancer Research Foundation (Inc) via either: Everyday Hero, Go Fundraise or My Cause THANK YOU for your generosity. It has been really inspiring to have so many people, from around the world support our cause via your efforts. 2 Sunday Pram Pushers Sweat, tears, giggles and balloons were all part and parcel of Perth’s biggest pram muster, the Newmont 2011 Great Pram Push. On a beautiful sunny April morning, more than 100 prams plus parents, grandparents and kids turned out for the annual charity walk and fun-run, taking over the streets of Fremantle in a bid to raise more than $10,000 for the CLCRF and the Starlight Children’s Foundation. Despite the early start, the runners were not slow off the mark. Dads & Bubs winner Gary Couanis set a new Pram Push record, finishing the 8km run in 29 minutes, 20 seconds, faster than the previous best time over last years shortest course. The Mums & Bubs run category saw more than 30 mums and tots line up at the start. Although one participant’s toddler decided they were pulling out halfway through, the Mums also set a cracking by Rebecca Martin speed, with Jane Kargotich crossing first, pushing not one but two littlies in her double pram. By far the most popular pushing category was the 4km Little Takas Sunday Stroll. Mums, Dads and Grandparents walked together, taking in the sights of Fremantle’s West End, the Esplanade and the South Mole along the way. Standouts in this category was Neil McClure, who despite a bandaged leg honours as the first grandparent across the line, and little Hannah, who pushed her own little pram the whole walk alongside her Mum. Along with giveaways including coffees, Little Takas nappies, Newmont Mining caps, bags of books from Elizabeths Bookshop and bottles of Rosily Wines, thousands of dollars worth of prizes were generously donated. In the prize pool was a brand new Mountain Buggy pram with all accoutrements from Babyroad, Mountain Buggy and Safe n Sound, a $2500 photographic prize package from Viva Photography and a beautiful Pandora bracelet from Verity Jewellers at Booragoon. Most importantly, the day not only reached the $10,000 target, but beat it, raising $11,700. Special mention must be made of Rae Jas who took the prize for best fundraiser, single-handedly raising more than $1000. And another big thanks to the army of volunteers that kept the prams pushing the right way. Thanks also to the 2011 event sponsors: Newmont Mining, Little Takas biodegradable nappies, Scott Print, Viva Photography, Incite Fitness and Denboer & Associates. Looking forward to 2012…. Nautilus Lodge Since 2004 the Nautilus Lodge has been strong supporter of the Foundation. In March this year we were advised that the Lodge had handed in their Charter and therefore were making one last donation to us. This final gesture of support was for the sum of $10,500! Our very first association with the Lodge was via the late Mr Gordon Baron-Hay (who was a lodge member). Mr Baron-Hay, on more than one occasion, would visit our office to kindly hand over their donation. Our heartfelt sympathy to the Baron-Hay family for the loss of this lovely man. The Woolworths ‘Fresh Food Kids Hospital Appeal’ commences on August 24 and finishes October 18 2011. Since 1989 the Staff & Customers of Woolworths (WA) have supported our Foundation and have raised over $2.9 million dollars. We are truly indebted to them for this incredible generosity. The Fresh Future Hospital Appeal also supports Perth’s only children’s hospital - Princess Margaret Hospital. Please show your support of our two great causes by shopping at Woolworths - thank you. 3 We are the Champions Our third ‘family concert’ was held on Saturday March 19 in the delightful grounds of Houghton Winery. We had a fantastic turn out with close to 2,000 people attending. Our entertainment for the evening - Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen Tribute band) and Tonight’s the Night - (Rod Stewart tribute) - were truly amazing, not only in the quality of their performance but the ‘uncanny’ likeness the lead singers had to Fred Mercury and Rod Stewart! Thomas Crane (Freddy Mercury impersonator), recently appeared on Australia’s Got Talent and just missed out in getting into the grand final. All who saw him performing at our Family Night Out considered him a winner and the rest of Australia missed the chance to see him provide so much more than a couple of minutes crammed into a reality television show. This event would not be possible without help from many people. In particular we want to thank: Houghton Winery - Ben Clarke and his great staff. Houghtons also generously donated the cost of the extra toilets and the lighting towers. BBC Entertainment - Beth Ormsby for booking us a great band and children’s entertainer Clare Stace “Lizzy Dizzy Ladybug” Hello Call Centre - for sponsoring the Royal Life Saving Society first aid van Acclaimed Catering - Mike Cox for the top quality gourmet hampers. Australian Protection Services - Brad Smith and his professional team Marie Gee - publicity consultant Twisted Balloons - Mal and Judy Matt Brenner and family with the ice cream van Reeces Structures for providing the marquees. Skylark Face Painting Swan Valley Animal Farm It has always been said that this event was created so that the Foundation could connect with it’s supporters. With that in mind we are extremely delighted to let you know that over $14,500 was raised from the night! 2012 Family Concert has been scheduled for Saturday March 17 2012 at Houghton Winery. Further details will be included in our Spring Newsletter (due out Oct/November). 4 (or at least we like to think so!) (Above) The Animal Farm was a hit with the children as was Lizzy Dizzy Ladybug (right). The face painting produced some spectacular results! (Below left) Another hit was the balloon shapes and of course our own Rod Stewart (below). (Top photo) Some people go to extremes to get noticed! (Above) The crowd in full swing on a wonderful night. (Above) This guy's got talent and we couldn't keep our other Freddie out of the picture (right). 5 Largesse Dinner #4 - Dear Friends Restaurant Largesse /lär-‘zhes/ The concept driving Largesse was to get six West Australian chefs - and mates - together to create a memorable evening to show off the state’s bounty of wine, produce and culinary talent while supporting the efforts of local charities. Largesse #4 was held at Dear Friends Restaurant in Caversham, with proceeds being donated to our Foundation. The menu for the night was as follows: Fresh shucked oysters Jerry Fraser Roasted rabbit saddle, quail, cranberries, snails Stephen Clarke Clarkes of North Beach Marron, cucumber, lemon Hadleigh Troy Restaurant Amusé Flank, Rottnest scallop, chilli caramel, shin floss Scott O’Sullivan Red Cabbage Food + Wine Duck liver and foie gras parfait, brioche, spiced fig compote Todd Stuart Bouchard Dexter beef, rhubarb, wasabi Kiren Mainwaring Dear Friends Restaurant Fritule Jason Jujnovich Divido The Six Chefs (L-R) Hadleigh Troy (Restaurant Amusé), Scott O’Sullivan (Red Cabbage Food + Wine), Todd Stuart (Origins), Kiren Mainwaring (Dear Friends), Jason Jujnovich (Divido) and Stephen Clarke (Clarkes of North Beach) A small auction was also held with unique item’s donated by: A Sheer Delight - signed Lord Wedgewood ‘Jasper Bowl’ Showcase Jewellers – mens watch Four Cooking Classes (each valued at $100) with Vince Garreffa of Mondo Butchers Pearl Necklance from Cape York Pearls We are delighted to announce that after some spirited bidding $11,720 was raised for the Foundation from this event. A big thank you to all concerned, particularly to Kelli & Kiren from Dear Friends for hosting the evening. Also thanks to Val Stopp for organising the auction items. The Munda Biddi bike trail currently runs through the Darling Ranges between Mundaring and Nannup (almost 600km). The girls aimed to make it to Nannup by April 20, requiring an average of about 60km per day. This doesn’t sound like much in road-biking terms, but the terrain through the Darling Ranges was hideous (in a number of parts, at least), leaving Bronwyn to thoroughly curse the absence of their horses. They continued to tough it out, however, with the knowledge that their support man, Barry Chapman, would have the majority of their sleeping and cooking gear waiting for them each evening. They also had plenty of inspirational (and funny) moments along the way, including: • the daily dose of Biltong (beef Jerky) kindly donated by DJ Gourmet; • the one chance they had to use a real flushing toilet (in Collie); • the moment when Elise took the wrong track, resulting in a directly uphill 2km deviation; and • the moment when Tammy made the girls walk uphill for 1km off the Munda Biddi (on a 75km day) to view the “King Jarrah tree”. Tammy, Bronwyn and Elise all had numerous falls. Elise’s were mainly from a stand-still when she forgot that her feet were clipped into the pedals, Tammy’s were mostly as a result of the “cursed pea gravel” and Bronwyn mostly whilst attempting spectacular downhill stunt-riding. The girls managed to fundraise just over $3,000.00 for the Children’s Leukaemia & Cancer Research Foundation (Inc) and would specially like to thank: • Neil Chapman for donating the majority of their food for the trip; • Barry Chapman for his invaluable assistance as support man; • Kott Gunning Lawyers, Minepower and Kane Parker for their extremely generous donations to CLCRF; • DJ Gourmet for the steady supply of biltong; • Auto Cheap Midland for the donation of products to assist with the raffle drawn at Mogumber Rodeo; and • All of the staff at Kott Gunning Lawyers for their individual donations. Editors note: On behalf of the Foundation a very big thank you for your tremendous effort and support. 7 Clued-up cows tune in at 9 o’clock by Denis Gray The pleasure experienced by being afloat on a beautiful river shortly after sunrise and in the company of friends, is further enhanced with the knowledge it has an even greater purpose: that is raising funds for this wonderful Foundation. Despite - or possibly because of - a promise of showers on Monday April 11, seventeen members of Mandurah Over 55s Canoe Club, ‘The Grey Dolphins’ mustered for their annual fund-raising paddle on Peel Region’s Murray River. At 7am, suitably clad and provisioned, three of the Club’s most Peel Region’s Murray Bend launching intrepid members launched their kayaks at Murray Bend Ramp and ramp late morning Monday April 11 paddled east to Pinjarra and back, completing a round trip of 30km. At 9am, a lone lady, Mrs Trudi Dor, launched from the Pinjarra Ramp and paddled down stream to Murray Bend, completing a trip of 15km. Also around 9am a further 13 members set out from from Murray Bend to paddle up-river to its junction with the Dandelup River where they dis-embarked for morning tea at a place often referred to as “Cowpat Flat”. Here, the morning sound of birds in song and the ripples of a flowing river were broken by the sound of a radio playing. With no visible human habitation in the surrounding area, had the cows tuned in to the 9 o’clock news? Content with another morning well Back at Murray Bend ‘camp’ other members, for a variety of spent, members relax in sunshine as it reasons, did not join the paddling activity but instead set to and filters through gum trees close to the prepared a fitting ‘banquet’ for their club mates as each staggered river bank. ashore exhausted and hungry. This year’s event raised a total of $1425 which included $510 donated by two Canoe Club ancillary organisations: Mandurah Book Club ($210) and the Craft & Needlework Group ($300). Our Foundation has a new home Foundation Chairman, Mr Geoff Cattach, today announced that the Children’s Leukaemia & Cancer Research Foundation has purchased a new administration office suite situated at Suite 3, 100 Hay Street, Subiaco. Mr Cattach stated “given the future uncertainty of tenure at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children and the proposed new children’s hospital at the QE2 medical centre, the Foundation chose to be proactive and secure our own premises rather than hope for the provision of office facilities at either hospital site”. “We are delighted that our acquisition not only looks after our future administration needs but at the same time is a significant investment in an appreciating asset”. The Foundation’s Executive Officer, Andrea Alexander, stated “that it was an exciting time for the Foundation and the new facility would enhance community relationships and provide greater service to members”. A current refurbishment is being undertaken and it is hoped that our administration team will take up occupancy mid-September 2011. Please note that our postal address will still be PO Box 1118, West Perth WA 6872 But our new street address (from mid-Sept) will be Suite 3 100 Hay Street, Subiaco 6008 Our telephone number (currently 9340 8330) will be changed and we will advise our supporters of this soon. 8 Bike Trek 2010 The 2010 Rotary-Lions South West Bike Trek raised $66,420, a truly remarkable effort considering the economic situation of the time. The Trek started in Perth on October 17 and finished in Augusta Saturday October 2. Approximately 15 riders completed the whole Trek with many riders joining for sections along the journey. There were stop over’s at Pinjarra, Harvey, Bunbury, Busselton, Margaret River and then of course Augusta. Various service clubs from Rotary, Lions, Business and Professional Women’s contributed along the way with meals and financial support. Several Shires supported the Bike Trek and the Harvey Primary School raised funds and joined the Trek for a short stretch. During this ride they were supported by the local police. Many organisations and volunteers have contributed to the Bike Trek and our sincere thanks go to them all. There are too many participants and supporters to list but the Foundation assures them the funds raised will be used in a very prudent and proper manner for the cause of continuing research into childhood cancers. The 2010 Rotary-Lions South West Bike Trek has now raised a total of $386,000 since it commenced in 2004. Once again, many thanks to the riders who gain sponsorship and to the dedicated members of the organising committee and volunteers that manage the Trek throughout the entire year. 9 Help us Spread the word..... We were inspired to do this by a lovely little boy, Ryker, who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer. His mum works for Provident and is presently on leave. Together with our colleague’s family and friends we have raised more than $600 to support this wonderful Foundation. Thank you to all those who participated on the day for your support. (L-R) Peter McDonald, Sharyn Rule, Carolyn Stubbs with Ryker and Simon Carter Subiaco Football Club In December 2010 the Subiaco Football Club held an Ashes Function. The Foundation was nominated beneficiary from this event and early in 2011 a cheque was presented to Andrea from Peter Capes, the CEO of Subiaco Football Club. Our thanks to Subi for their continued support! (L-R) Peter Capes (CEO), Travis Kalin, Ben Haywood, Brooke Edwards, Andrew McBean & Andrea Alexander. 12 by Olivia Russell Bootscooting The Bootscooting group have been busy again, raising $162 during their social held at the Jack Healy Centre in Kalamunda. Besides scooting their boots those present enjoyed a performance from Marie Haselmore who sang for them. Marie lost her sister to cancer and does a lot to support cancer research. Thanks Marie. Taj’s Perfect Ten for Sick Kids While competing in the April 2011 Telstra Drug Pro at Margaret River, WA surfing legend, Taj Burrow, smashed an awesome wave with the perfect score of 10 in heat 4. Later that day Taj took time out to sign and donate one of his competition surfboards to the Children’s Leukaemia & Cancer Research Foundation. Andrea was on hand to receive the board and said “Taj’s performance was amazing and he is a true hero and winner in our eyes”. Kokoda Trek - 2011 ANZAC Day by Brad Jones • Courage • Endurance • Sacrifice • Mateship It was an amazing journey, the magnificent scenery was just a bonus. Learning the history and meeting the beautiful people made us all aware of the sacrifices that were made to deliver us the world in which we live today. It was a challenging trek physically and mentally but the spirit the Kokoda track possesses ensured that we would complete the journey refreshed. Courage, Endurance, Sacrifice, Mateship. These words represent the commitment made by the Australian soldiers throughout the Kokoda campaign. All children and their families that suffer from leukaemia and cancer display these characteristics daily. And like the Kokoda campaign young lives are lost well before their time, denying the world a piece of its future. Thank you to everyone that donated towards the cause of raising awareness and funds that will help in finding a way to beat these terrible diseases. Over $6,738 was raised by the Kokoda Trekkers! National Insurance Brokers Assocation (WA) At NIBA’s annual Christmas Lunch, held in December last year, Andrea was presented with a donation of $3,200 being proceeds from the Gala-Lunch held in May at the Burswood Convention Centre. NIBA have been very committed supporters of the Foundation, since 1997 they have donated $70,400 to support research into childhood cancers. This continued generosity from NIBA members has played a unique part in our research endeavours and we are very grateful for their benevolence. Generosity of Foundation Member By Andrea Alexander I was recently notified that one of our members,Mrs Nathalie Jahn, aged 93, had passed away in March this year. Mrs Jahn was a very committed supporter of the Foundation and had been a member of the Foundation since 1997. Unbeknown to the Foundation Mrs Jahn had left a significant bequest in her will to the Children’s Leukaemia & Cancer Research Foundation (Inc). Our sincere condolences to the Jahn Family on their recent loss - we are deeply touched by Mrs Jahn’s generosity. Her legacy will greatly assist our Foundation to continue to fund the vital research work into childhood cancers. 13 )LQHDQG &RQWHPSRUDU\'LQLQJ =DIIHUDQR5HVWDXUDQW 5HVWDXUDQW$PXVp &RFR¶V5LYHUVLGH%DUDQG 5HVWDXUDQW %LVWUR)HOL[ +DUYHVW -XOLR¶V 5HG&DEEDJH 7KH5HG+HUULQJ 0XVW:LQH%DU±0DUJDUHW5LYHU 'DUOLQJWRQ(VWDWH:LQHU\ &KDU&KDU%XOO 7KH/HIW%DQN&DIp%DU 5HVWDXUDQW 0XOODORR%HDFK+RWHO 0RVPDQV5HVWDXUDQW %ODFN7RP¶V :DOWHUV5LYHU&DIp5HVWDXUDQW )ULHQGV5HVWDXUDQW 7KH%\UQHOHLJK +LSSR&UHHN+LOODU\VDQG6XELDFR 7KH3LFNOHG)LJ DQGPDQ\PRUH ,QIRUPDO'LQLQJ DQG7DNHDZD\ &DVXDO5HVWDXUDQW DQG)DPLO\'LQLQJ 7KH9LF %UDVVJULOO&KDUJULOO5HVWDXUDQW :DJDPDPD 7KH&DULQH -HWW\¶V5HVWDXUDQW 6LHQD¶V -LPP\'HDQ¶V'LQHU :RRGSHFNHU¶V:RRGILUHG3L]]D 1RUIRON+RWHO 2XWEDFN-DFNV%DU*ULOO $OELRQ+RWHO 6LFLOLDQ&DIp &RWWHVORH+RWHO 6DLO$QFKRU3XE%UHZHU\ 0LOOH&DIH (DW*UHHN 5RVHPRXQW+RWHO &DSWDLQ6WLUOLQJ 5RXFFR¶V 7DR&DIH +RJ¶V%UHDWK&DIp0LQGDULH DQG1RUWKEULGJH DQGPDQ\PRUH 0F'RQDOG¶V +XQJU\-DFN¶V .)& 6XPR6DODG %UXPE\¶V /HPRQ&DIHV -HVWHUV $URPD&DIp 5HG5RRVWHU (DJOH%R\V'LDOD3L]]D -DYD-XLFH *HODUH,FH&UHDP&DIp 0<20DNH<RXU2ZQ 5HG6SRRQ :RNLQDER[ %DVNLQ5REELQV 'RQXW.LQJ )LW&KLSV 2QH)RU7KH5RDG 0X]]%X]] :HQG\¶V DQGPDQ\PRUH« $UWV6SRUWV DQG$WWUDFWLRQV +R\WV&LQHPDV *UDQG&LQHPDV *UHDWHU8QLRQ&LQHPDV $GYHQWXUH:RUOG $0)%RZOLQJ&HQWUHV $FH&LQHPDV &DSWDLQ&RRN&UXLVHV 5RWWQHVW([SUHVV 6FLWHFK DQGPDQ\PRUH 5HWDLO7UDYHO/HLVXUH DQG$FFRPPRGDWLRQ +D\PDQ +DPLOWRQ,VODQG 5\GJHV+RWHOVDQG 5HVRUWV &URZQ7RZHUV 'UHDPZRUOG :DUQHU%URV0RYLH :RUOG *RXUPHW7UDYHOOHU )DQWDVHD&UXLVHV DQGPDQ\PRUH Children's Leukaemia & Cancer Research Foundation ŚŝůĚƌĞŶΖƐ>ĞƵŬĂĞŵŝĂΘĂŶĐĞƌZĞƐĞĂƌĐŚ&ŽƵŶĚĂƚŝŽŶ;/ŶĐͿ (Inc) ĚĚƌĞƐƐ͗WKŽdžϭϭϭϴt^dWZd,tϲϴϳϮ Address: PO Box 1118 WEST PERTH WA 6872 ŽŶƚĂĐƚ͗ŶĚƌĞĂKZtĞŶĚLJ Contact: Andrea OR Wendy WŚŽŶĞ͗ϵϯϰϬϴϯϯϬ Phone: 9340 8330 ŵĂŝů͗ĂĚŵŝŶΛĐŚŝůĚĐĂŶĐĞƌƌĞƐĞĂƌĐŚ͘ĐŽŵ͘ĂƵ Email: [email protected] Name:_____________________________________________Phone:____________________Mobile:______________________ EĂŵĞ͗ͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺWŚŽŶĞ͗ͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺDŽďŝůĞ͗ͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺ Address:_____________________________________________________________________State:________Postcode:_______ ĚĚƌĞƐƐ͗ͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺ^ƚĂƚĞ͗ͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺWŽƐƚĐŽĚĞ͗ͺͺͺͺͺͺͺ ŵĂŝů͗ͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺ ͺͺͺ Email: __________________________________________________________ /ǁŽƵůĚůŝŬĞƚŽŽƌĚĞƌ͗ͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺͺdžĐŽƉLJͬĐŽƉŝĞƐΛΨϲϱĞĂĐŚ;'^dŝŶĐ͘Ϳ I would like to order: _________ x copy/copies @ $65 each (GST inc.) It keeps all those names, addresses and other little bits of information gathered along the way in one compact record. Travelling Frien ds My husband, Allan, and I started our caravan holidays in 2003, spurred on by the loss of three special people to cancer. We decided to start travelling and see more of our wonderful country rather than wait until retirement because you never know what is ahead in life. Since then more of our friends and relatives have unfortunately had to undergo treatment for cancer. When we heard about the Children’s Leukaemia & Cancer Research Foundation we thought it would be a great idea to donate part of the proceeds from the sale of this book and bookmarks to this very worthwhile Foundation. Children are our future and if we can help in any small way then writing this book would have an extra worthwhile purpose. On our travels we have met many friendly and interesting people and some of these have now become good friends with whom we have exchanged contact details. Instead of just writing their details on a loose piece of paper which has a good chance of becoming lost or, as I prefer, misplaced, we decided to write them all in one June Foote book. During our travels we also keep a record of fuel, accommodation, daily expenses and trips as a permanent record of our adventures. As well as being a journal it also helps as a reference should we travel the same route again. It enables us to check where we were able to buy cheaper fuel and the caravan parks we have previously visited. This book is a combination of all this information as a way of recording many happy memories. You can enjoy making this book part of your travels and in years to come you can look back at all the wonderful memories of your holidays and the friends you have met along the way. Perhaps we will meet you somewhere on our travels. HAPPY TRAVELLING.
