To protect against electrical hazards do not immerse the power cord, plug, stand, or contact grill in water or any other liquid. Do not use in the bathroom or near any source of water. Always use the appliances handles as some parts may be hot. This appliance is not intended for use by young children or infirmed persons. Close supervision is necessary when this appliance is used near children or infirmed person. Always turn off and unplug from the power outlet before cleaning the appliance. Do not operate this appliance with a damaged cord/plug or after the appliance has malfunctioned, dropped or damaged in any manner. Contact Customer service for replacement, examination, repair or adjustment. There are no serviceable parts. If power cord or appliance is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard. Do not use on an inclined plane or unstable surface. Do not move the contact grill when in use. Do not cover the contact grill when in use. Do not cook food items too large for the contact grill. Take care when opening the lid of the contact grill, there may be some steam. Always take care when removing food after cooking as it is hot. Food may burn. Always monitor when using this appliance. Do not use the contact grill near or below any curtains or other combustible materials. Keep the contact grill and the power cord away from the edge of table or counter tops and out of reach of children and infirmed persons. To disconnect, turn off the wall power outlet, then grasp the plug and remove from wall power socket. Never pull by the cord. Before using the Grilling Machine for the first time or if stored away for a long time, wipe the grill plates with a damp cloth to remove all dust. To Preheat : Wipe the grill plates with a little cooking oil or butter. Do not use low fat spread - it may burn the grill. Close the lid and plug cord into a 230-240V AC power outlet. The power light will go on indicating that the elements are heating. Allow grilling machine to preheat for 4-5 minutes. Use a pot holder to carefully open the lid. Slide the grease catching drop tray under the front of the unit. With the plastic spatula, carefully place the items to be cooked on the bottom grilling plate. Close the lid. The hinge will be articulated. NB The grill pates should be roughly parallel to avoid uneven cooking. The hinge has a floating design for even cooking, please do not think this is a faulty hinge. Cooking times depend on type, thickness and volume of food. Allow the food to cook for the desired time. Consult the Recipe Section at the back of this book for some suggestions. Do not leave appliance unattended during use! After the food to cook for the desire time, the food should be done. Check if in doubt cook it a bit more. When finished, switch off at the power outlet, disconnect the plug from the wall outlet. Note; Some sparks may be visible while disconnecting from wall outlet. This is quite normal. Use a pot holder to carefully open the lid. Remove the food using the plastic spatula provided. Be sure to always use either plastic tongs or wooden utensils so as not to scratch the non-stick surface. Never use metal tongs, forks or knives as these can damage the coating on the grilling plates. When cook, the drop tray may be removed and emptied. Be sure the liquid is cooled before removing drip tray. When finished, switch off at power outlet, disconnect plug from wall outlet and allow to cool before cleaning. USER MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS CAUTION: To avoid accidental burns, allow your Grilling Machine to cool thoroughly before cleaning. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Before cleaning, switch off at the power outlet, unplug the Grilling Machine from the wall outlet and allow to cool. Inside Cleaning: Place the drip tray under the front of the Grilling Machine. Using the specially designed spatula, scrape off any excess fat and food particles. Wipe the plates with the GEORGE FOREMAN GRILL SPONGE, or a clean damp cloth. Run off till drip into the drip tray. Stubborn Build up: Use a wet GRILL SPONGE to wipe the plates while the grilling machine is still somewhat warm. Empty the drop tray and clean with warm soapy water. Wipe dry. Outside Cleaning: Wipe with a warm, wet sponge and dry with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use steel wool, scouring pads or harsh or abrasive cleaners on any part of the grilling machine. Take extra care with the non-stick cooking surface. Use only your specially designed GEORGE FOREMAN GRILL SPONGE which is non-scratch and has specially designed grooves to fit the grill. DO NOT IMMERSE IN WATER OR OTHER LIQUID. Make sure to hold the top cover (lid) by hand while cleaning to prevent accidentally closing and injury. Any servicing requiring disassembly other than the above cleaning must be performed by the manufacturer only. Limited 1 year warranty Nothing in this guarantee or the instructions relating to the product excludes, restricts or otherwise affects your statutory rights under the Trade Practices Act 1974 and other relevant legislation. In addition to your statutory rights, Salton (Aust) Pty Ltd and Salton NZ Ltd (hereafter referred to as “Salton”) provide a LIMITED 1 YEAR WARRANTY for this product. Salton warrants this product free from defects in material and workmanship for one (1) year from the date of purchase. Within this warranty period Salton will repair or replace defective parts at no charge. Defective products may be returned to Salton or the place of purchase. Salton recommends you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
