Cliff Apley was a 49-year-old cedar mill worker. His passion
was the outdoors, hunting, and his dogs. Cliff worked hard

wonderful fiancé, a loving son and big brother. Cliff is gone
too soon but his impact on this world will be felt forever.
Kin David Beliakoff, 29, Security Officer
Kin David Beliakoff, 29, died March 23, 2010. He was an
armed security guard for Washington Merchant Patrol for
two years before this tragic accident. Kin loved the outdoors,
climbing mountains and was an adventurer. He loved his
job, was good and kind hearted and had a special place in his
heart for the underdog. He was a loving father and partner
and is missed very much. Kin is survived by his parents Stan
and Myra Feret, his partner Julie, and his three kids, Wil,
13, Eden, 7, and Nik, 3. Wil was his “young Man,” Eden his
“princess,” and Nikolas, his “little Kin.” “Daddy – you are
missed very, very much! With lots of love, Us.” Wallace Bushman, 60, Public Works Director,
City of George
Faith, family and country -- those three things were important
to Wallace and he tried to keep them in that order. Wallace
loved his town, always looking to improve it and make it
someplace where families would like to live. He was active
on the Community Hall Board and was always ready to serve
and help the community, knowing it helped keep it safe for
his family. Wallace raised six children, then, when his brother
Ken died, took on four nephews. He was an active scout
leader and helped with the youth in his church. Wallace was
loved by all who met him and is greatly missed.
Thomas Charles Carlson, 43, Pastor
Thomas Charles Carlson was born on Sept. 13 and joined
the Army out of high school. While he was stationed at Fort
Lewis, he met and married the love of his life, his wife of 21
years, Sheri. After leaving the military in 1991, Thom attended
Bates Technical College and graduated with an Associates of
Arts in Heavy Equipment. Thom volunteered at his church,
Real Life Family Center, then became a staff pastor in October

Tyler “Beans” Challinor, 20, Job Corps Student
Tyler “Beans” Challinor was a tall, gentle giant who was
an avid hunter, fisherman and friend to many. Tyler was
attending Fort Simcoe Job Corps and working at the Yakima
Forest Product Mill in White Swan when he was killed
in an industrial accident. Tyler joined Job Corps in 2009,
completed the Heavy Equipment Mechanics Program,
received his GED and was waiting for an opening in

peace, returned to the earth he loved so much.
Vanessa Page Downing, 26,
heavy duty mechanic
Vanessa Page Downing. Bright, determined, heavy duty
mechanic. She exhibited a real zest and spark for her work.
She was amazing and talented and lost her life welding a
railing on a barge crane. She loved her work and found a
niche in this male-dominated field.
Jerrold Samuel Florek, 51, Logger
Jerrold worked in the woods for over 35 years. He was
tragically killed on Sept. 3, 2010. He enjoyed clam digging,
auctions, garage sales, swap meets, being on the farm, and
supporting the local football team. Jerrold’s priority was
preserving the farm for the next generation and teaching us
how dad always did things (he was an extension of dad). He
had a quick wit and sense of humor. Jerrold always had a
smile, a helping hand, an ear to listen, and a laugh to share.
He always thought of how to make something easier for the
next guy. All who knew him miss him very deeply.

Matthew Paul Gumbel, 34, Refinery Operator
Matthew died April 24, 2010 at Harborview Medical Center,

life and loved the out-of-doors. He was a risk taker, loved
snowboarding, biking, climbing, hiking and driving his car,

Ben was a plasterer for 43 years. He had a successful
double lung transplant in 2009 giving him 17 more

months looking for the ‘perfect’ pink fishing pole so he
could take his granddaughter fishing for the first time.
With his wife, Dianne, he spent those extra months
travelling to Oregon, Florida, through the Panama Canal,

wife, daughter, 2 granddaughters, and 2 great-grandsons,
telling stories, taking walks, skipping stones, and sharing
