DANIEL BOONE ELEMENTARY 2014 CAMP CATALOG The Francis Howell School District Summer Enrichment program provides children that have completed Kindergarten through 5th grade in the 2013-2014 school year shared experiences that encourage academic, social, personal growth and skill development through fun, affordable, and convenient activities. An opportunity for your child to participate in community programs in the comfort of their own school! SOME QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE: WHO CAN ENROLL? Francis Howell residents that have completed Kindergarten-5th grade in the 2013-2014 school year IS THERE A MINIMUM ENROLLMENT THAT MUST BE MET TO HOLD THE CAMP? A minimum of 10 students must enroll per camp in order for the camp to be held IS THERE A MAXIMUM NUMBER THAT CAN SIGN-UP FOR EACH CAMP? There will be a maximum of 10-18 students per camp. Once this is reached, a waiting list will be started There will be a minimum of one camp held per school if minimums are met, with a potential for two camps IF I NEED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, ARE THERE SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE? There are limited scholarship opportunities available. Contact the Program Coordinator at your site. IS THERE A DEADLINE TO RETURN THE REGISTRATION FORM & PAYMENT BY? Yes. Your enrollment form & payment must be received by May 9th or you will forfeit your spot in the camp. ARE PAYMENTS REFUNDABLE? Unfortunately, we will not be able to process refunds once payments are received. HOW WILL I KNOW I GOT IN TO THE CAMP? If your enrollment form & payment are received by May 9th you are considered enrolled & confirmations will be sent via e -mail the week of May 19th. IF A CAMP IS FULL, IS THERE ANY OPPORTUNITY TO ENROLL? If we reach our maximum students for a camp, you will be added to a waiting list. If a spot becomes available you will be contacted. You may enroll in a camp at another location. I AM NOT ENROLLED IN VACATION STATION THIS SUMMER. AM I STILL ABLE TO ENROLL IN A CAMP? Yes. There is a camp-only registration fee of $15.00 I AM ENROLLED IN VACATION STATION THIS SUMMER. WILL I STILL PAY MY CYCLE BREAK DAILY RATE DURING THE CAMP DAYS? We are offering a camp attendance rate for those enrolled in Vacation Station. HOW WILL SNACKS & LUNCH WORK? Snack will be provided at 8:45 before camp begins. For students attending Vacation Station, Lunch will be eaten after camps dismiss WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE AND PICK UP FOR CAMP? Students not enrolled in Vacation Station should arrive no earlier than 8:45 a.m. and be picked up no later than 12:15 p.m. Students arriving more than 15 minutes early or 15 minutes late, will be taken to Vacation Station and cared for until camp begins or until you arrive to pick up. There will be a flat fee of $19.75 charged for this service. Daniel Boone Elementary Coming Summer 2014 Mad Science Painted Pot Jet Cadets From the earliest flying machines to the first rocket flights, this hands-on program for children ages 5-12 will allow them to build many different flying devices, see how Newton’s Laws of motion help explain how things move and how rockets fly. Grades K-5 | June 23-26 | 9-12:00 | $108.00 Art-Rageous This class will bring out the artist in you. The children will be working with clay, canvas painting, ceramics and mosaics. Children will be using the pottery wheel, designing there own dinner plate, puzzling glass together to create a design and coming up with a design and painting it on the canvas. Lots of messy fun! Please know we WILL get messy, so dress accordingly. Grades K-5 | June 9-12 | 9-12:00 | $95.00 Bricks 4 Kidz Painted Pot Mining & Crafting Experience the world of Minecraft® with LEGO® bricks in this creative camp! Kids will begin by crafting their shelters and some of the mobs, critters and tools using traditional bricks and mosaic builds. Campers will face new challenges each day building motorized Bricks 4 Kidz® models and crafting key elements from the Minecraft® game. Themed games and challenges, creative building stations and small weekly take homes add to the fun! Grades 1-5 | July 14-17 | 9-12:00 | $80.00 Crazy about Clay This class will be a combination of clay and ceramics. The children will explore different painting techniques, bubble painting, shaving cream, sculpting, and using the pottery wheel. Lots of messy fun!
