De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde Office of the Registrar Transition Term, SY 2014-2015 May 11 to August 17, 2015 General Information As the College transitions to the new academic calendar that is responsive to the ASEAN integration, the transition term shall seamlessly segue into the SY 2015-2016. Whereas the summer term is only for remedial classes, the transition term is open for all regular and irregular students, returnees, transferees and shiftees. It is a 14-week term which is not counted towards the maximum residency period and students can take a full-load. As a rule, students expecting to graduate at the end of the transition term may carry a maximum overload of six (6) units. Other programs with specific units declared for the penultimate and ultimate terms are exempt from this rule. BS-IHM students who opt to enroll shall be charged the amortization for the Vatel royalty fee as well (this payment shall be counted towards the full payment for the Vatel royalty fee). The deadline of payment of tuition and fees (without surcharge) is on May 16. This is a one-week extension from the usual deadline of payment without surcharge. The surcharge for late payment starts on the second week of classes. Students on scholarships and/or tuition subsidies will continue to enjoy the same. Per policy, payment confirms enrollment. The deadlines for payment without surcharge and with surcharge are indicated in the Enrollment Assessment Form (EAF). Students who do not confirm enrollment within the prescribed period will be dropped from the enrollment list and their ID cards will be invalidated. Likewise, ID cards of students who are not enrolled during the transition term will be invalidated. Consequently, students who are not enrolled will have limited access to the campus. However, they have access to online enlistment and pre-enrollment for the 1st term, SY 2015-2016 (refer to calendar in the previous page). Transferees, Shiftees and Returnees The College will accept transferees for the transition term. However, because the transition term is not a regular term, enrollment in the transition term will not be counted towards the students’ maximum residency period. Shifting policies and procedures likewise apply for the transition term. Approved shifting in the 3rd term, SY 1415 will be applicable on the transition term. That is, students accepted to the program they are shifting to may enroll accordingly. Returnees are encouraged to enroll for the transition term. Enrollment for returnees is May 7 & 8, 2014. Class Size and Course Schedules All undersubscribed sections will be scheduled for dissolution within the first week of classes. The list of dissolved sections will be posted at the Registrar’s Office (RO) bulletin boards within the following week. Students expecting to graduate at the end of the transition term may appeal for the retention of the undersubscribed section provided duly approved appeal reaches the RO before the second week of classes. Appeals for retention are addressed to the Dean through the Program Chairperson. Course schedules shall follow the regular term, that is, a weekly schedule equal to the course’s unit-hour credits. For example, ALGEB-X class is 4.5 hours a week. Block schedules will be retained. Faculty Load Regular classes, that is, classes that meet the minimum class size, shall carry the corresponding faculty unit load. Undersubscribed sections, that is, classes that do not meet the minimum class size are automatically dissolved, unless petition for its retention is approved by the VCA on or before the first week of classes. Retained undersubscribed sections will either carry the equivalent unit load or special class, whichever is lower1. 1 Faculty members are advised to contact the HRD for HR related concerns.
