MEET THE JUROR : LEEANN STONE
LeeAnn Stone has been deeply connected to the arts in one form or another from a very early age. At
age eight LeeAnn had already broken into theater as a stage actor and singer, and ever since then she
has been constantly involved in all sorts of theatrical, choral, and visual-arts endeavors. By the time she
reached college, Ms. Stone had developed a distinct talent and passion for the visual arts, which led her
to enter the fine arts program at The University of North Texas as an illustration and graphic design major.
While at UNT, her academic pursuit of the arts awoke in her a previously unrecognized and surprisingly
impressive talent for oil painting, specifically in portraiture, which ended up becoming her one true passion. Following graduation from The University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Ms. Stone further pursued her passion by studying portraiture at The Dallas Creative Arts Center. From there LeeAnn
embarked on a successful career as a professional artist, painting and selling her unique, widely-recognized stylized portraits to a variety of markets including corporate clients, interior designers, private collectors, and more.
Presently Ms. Stone has decided to scale back her prolific level of portrait production so that she can do
the thing that she has been wanting to do for a long time now: teach art. LeeAnn feels that by becoming
an art instructor, she can help the next generation of artists find what she so fortuitously found in her own
academic endeavors, and which ultimately led to her success as a professional artist.
LeeAnn Stone worked for the Deep Ellum Foundation for a number of years, helping to facilitate and promote Dallas' local art scene. For each of the last seven years, Ms. Stone has served as juror for the
nationally-renowned Deep Ellum Arts Festival, Dallas' premier annual showcase for artists from allover
the nation.
