This is a community competition that provides an opportunity for all residents in the Liverpool Plains area to creatively communicate the waste reduction message. LPSC is inviting entries for the 2014 Waste > Art & Design Competition. The competition is open to residents and schools located in the Liverpool Plains Shire Council area. Entry Forms and artwork are to be completed and returned to Liverpool Plains Shire Council by 5 November 2014. Entry is FREE! Entries will be judged the week commencing 10 November with a presentation to be held at Werris Creek Library on Wednesday 12 November 2014. Selected entries will be on display at Werris Creek Library from 5 November 2014. Prizes are available for the winners of each category. Judging Criteria Winners will be selected from the various sections and will be judged on the following criteria: § Demonstration of reuse or recycling of waste / pre-loved materials § Craftsmanship and quality of artwork § Aesthetic Merit , Creativity & Inspiration Artist agreement upon entry By completing & submitting the entry form, the entrant confirms that they have read the terms and conditions and agree to participate in accordance with these. The entrant also agrees that their artwork may be photographed and used in any promotional materials now or in the future and at the discretion of NIRW or member Councils. Artworks are to be a Class entry (ie Yr 2B, 4C etc). Artworks must use recyclable, reused materials. Entries can be either 2D/3D/Photographic/Audio Visual. How you interpret the theme can be any number of ways! The main focus is to show how a product can be reused for a new function. SECTION 2 – Secondary Schools This year’s Secondary Section has a theme of the “UN International Year of Family Farming”. 2014 is the United Nations International Year of Family Farming. The Liverpool Plains region has so much beautiful farmland, the land is an important resource & too good to be wasted. Litter, illegal dumping & pollution can have a devastating effect on the land. > Art (2D/3D/Sculpture) > Functional Art (Furniture/Inventions/Homewares) > Textiles and Wearable Art (Clothing/Jewellery) > Audio Visual (Movie/Jingle/Animation) SECTION 3 – Open Community > Art (2D/3D/Sculpture) > Functional Art (Furniture/Inventions/Homewares) > Textiles and Wearable Art (Clothing/Jewellery) > Junior Section – up to 16yrs (any entries of art/functional art/photographic/audiovisual) conditions of entry è Entrants must reside in Liverpool Plains Shire Council è Entrants may only submit one entry in each category è The entry must be the original work of the artist è All artworks must incorporate the re-use or recycling of waste or pre/loved materials è The item cannot have ever previously been entered in the Waste > Art competition è Each entry must be no larger than 1m x 1.5m and should weigh no more than 15kg. If the artwork does not meet these criteria, the artists entry can only be submitted as a photographic entry with a detailed explanation allowed è Any wall hangings must come complete with a hanging mechanism. Council WILL NOT do this for you. è All photographic entries are to be printed by the artist and submitted in a manageable display frame with a hanging mechanism è All artworks MUST BE clearly labeled with the entrant’s name & artwork name upon delivery to Council è Liverpool Plains Shire Council will not take responsibility for any loss or damage that may occur to entries. However, reasonable care will be applied in dealing with the entries submitted è All artworks remain the property of the entrant and must be collected immediately after the exhibition closes è Audio Visual entries are to be no longer in duration than 5 minutes long (maximum length) & be provided either on CD/DVD or USB stick (please check they work before submitting your entry) è Competition coordinators reserve the right to amend the entry category specified by the entrant if it is deemed to be incorrect è Entrants in the School sections will win prizes on behalf of their school. è Competition coordinators reserve the right to reject inappropriate artworks as deemed by them. è The cost and means of transport to the Council Chambers are the responsibility of the entrant.
