FROM THE CHILDREN’S ROOM Preference for attending the following programs will be given to children who reside in the Jericho School District. Out-ofdistrict grandchildren of Jericho residents will be wait-listed for the first two weeks of registration and then will be accepted into programs as space permits. When signing up for programs please bring your library card and proof of your child’s age if you have not registered for our e-mail database. Non-residents may sign up the day of the program as space allows. WE NEED YOUR RESPONSE! We ask all program registrants to confirm that they will be attending programs. It takes its name from the fact that it is always celebrated in the middle of the autumn season. The ancient Chinese observed that the movement of the moon had a close relationship with changes of the seasons and agricultural production. The moon cake is the special food of the Mid-Autumn Festival. On that day, people sacrifice moon cakes to the moon as an offering and eat them for celebration. There will be moon cakes, lanterns to make and traditional Chinese dance, song and costumes! Come to the JPL for a fun-filled afternoon of activities celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival including the tasting of moon cakes. Tickets are available for Jericho cardholders immediately. Non-residents may pick up tickets beginning August 18th.
