Holiday Sleigh Rides
TO
ADMISSION
Enjoy an old-fashioned holiday excursion!
Bundle up for a tractor-drawn bobsled ride
around the fields of the farm. Warm up
with cookies, hot chocolate and holiday
music by the glow of the woodstove. In the
event of no snow, participants will enjoy
a wagon ride. Ages 15 and under must be
accompanied by a paying adult.

activity? Experience winter on the farm!
Learn about how animal care and farm
chores change during the cold and dark of
January. Snowshoe on the farm trails, play
old-fashioned games and make cocoa on
the woodstove. Help with important winter
activities - mend clothes, cut and gather
firewood and maintain farm equipment.

Take a snowshoe trek and venture out across
windswept fields to visit an out-of-the-way
corner of the farm. Discover native plants and
animals that call fence rows and wetlands
their winter home. Enjoy sunset and moonrise
overlooking Otter Creek before returning
to the warmth of the Summer Kitchen for
homemade cookies and hot beverages.

foods - hot dogs and grilled cheese, listen
to ‘Home on the Range,’ one of his favorite
songs, and play games popular during his
presidency. And what’s a President without
a First Lady? Learn about Eleanor - a
humanitarian, feminist and fashion icon.
Design 1930s dresses and hats. Read letters
written to Eleanor by children affected by
the Great Depression and pen your own First
Lady requests. A great opportunity to share
your childhood experiences with younger
generations!

As winter winds down, Primrose Farm begins
to bustle with activity. Field work beckons
and spring cleaning starts even before buds
blossom. Participate in this year’s spring living
history kick off. Try your hand at planting
potatoes, broadcasting oats or white washing
the barn. Learn what life was like on the farms
in your forefathers’ time. Ages 15 and younger
must be accompanied by an adult.

Farm fresh eggs for all! Help gather eggs
straight from the nest of the chicken coop.
In this hands-on tour, learn the hows and
whys of backyard poultry among some
feathered friends. All pickers take home a
share of the eggs.

Feed the Animals • 2pm • 2nd & 4th Sat
Please feed the animals! It’s not often that
you’ll hear this being said on a farm. Get a
unique – behind the scenes – opportunity
to help feed the farm’s animal residents.
Learn about the care and feeding of
livestock and how their specialized diets vary
throughout the year.

Hold Your Horses • 1pm • 1st & 3rd Sat
Crazy about horses? Here’s your chance
to get up close and personal with some
gentle giants. Learn basic horse grooming
techniques in a historic setting.

Blacksmith Club
Ages 18+
Under the spreading chestnut tree, the
village smithy stands...the tree may be gone,
but the teaching forge at Primrose Farm is
now open. Join the Blacksmith Club and
gain access to the shop on the first Saturday
of every month. Work with other hobbyist
smiths and improve your skills in this most
fundamental of mechanical arts.

Celebrate your birthday
at the Farm
Join your friends at Primrose Farm for a
Barnyard Bash! Dress up in your overalls,
bandannas and boots for some fabulous

parties are held either in the Summer
Kitchen, under a picnic pavilion or at a
picnic table in the farmyard.
