Listrac, Haut-Medoc
The communes of Moulis and Listrac are sited between the great communes of St Julien and Margaux. Here the
gravel sub-soil that gives elegance and quality to the Cabernets of the Haut Medoc is a little less evident; there
are no Grand Cru châteaux here but bargains are to be had. Fourcas Hosten’s vineyard has limestone under
the gravel; the wine is tough and austere in youth but develops well into a classic claret after a few years.
