 Parents and Seniors: There will be a financial aid meeting on Thursday, January 22nd,
from 5:30 to 6:30 in the library. A financial aid advisor from State Fair Community College
will be presenting the information.
 Roadrunner Preview Days at State Fair Community College will be held January 23,
February 27, March 27, and April 24. RSVP one week prior to each date at
www.sfccmo.edu/visit. Preview Days are held 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and includes lunch.
Students will discover the new navigation advising program, interact with someone from
their program of interest, learn about admissions and financial aid, meet instructors and
current students, take a campus tour and see the residence hall.
 Junior High and High School Students: To brush up on your skills for the ACT, visit
www.March2Success.com. This site contains practice tests, flash cards, and games to
improve skills in math, science, and verbal skills. It also has a section on information for
college admissions and financing. It is a free site, but you must register for access.
 Middle School and High School Students – Check out this interesting website:
Get Schooled https://getschooled.com/dashboard is a non-profit organization that directly
engages and motivates students to graduate from high school and succeed in college. Get
Schooled is the premiere education brand for young people—linking students with high
quality, cutting edge resources and tools they need to succeed. Get Schooled uses the
messengers (celebrities, powerful peers, pop culture events) and the means (mobile/SMS,
social, web) that youth turn to; and it meets the students where they are (online, curious, etc.)
to deliver the information they need to be successful in their educational pursuits.
 Students reaching their 16th birthday by April 1, 2015, but not older than 18 - Missouri
Cadet Patrol Academy will be held May 31st through June 5th at Missouri State Highway
Patrol Law Enforcement Academy in Jefferson City. The purpose of the Cadet Patrol
Academy is to provide first-hand experience of the role of Law Enforcement in promoting
and safe-guarding American freedoms and rights. The program consists of a typical week of
rigorous patrol recruit training. The week’s activities will include: classroom instruction in
the history of law enforcement, defensive driving, radar, motor vehicle laws, first aid,
shooting demonstrations, drug abuse, and use of alcohol, as well as demonstrations of police
skills, such as personal defense and weapons firing. Organized sports will be a part of the
program as well as tours of the area as time permits. Any individual completing the full five
day program may be eligible for two scholarships given by the University of Central
Missouri and possibly others. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 GPA, be of good moral
character, present a neat, well-groomed military appearance and come well recommended.
Males will not report to the Academy with a beard. Applicant must possess a driver’s license
and have an interest in pursuing a career in the Criminal Justice System. Applications are

 FAFSA Frenzy is a program of College Goal Sunday which will assist students and families
in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is the
primary application used by federal, state, and institutional financial assistance entities in
determining an individual’s eligibility for grants, loans, work-study, and scholarships. Below

 Anyone interested in a career in business? The Recruitment Coordinator for the Trulaske
College of Business at the University of Missouri would like to meet with any interested
students. The Trulaske College of Business offers three exciting degree options: Business
Administration (Emphases in Management, Marketing, Economics, and Finance &
Banking), Accounting (Dual BS/Master’s program), and International Business (Dual
degree – Business Administration and International Studies). They also have an innovative
Professional Development Program that merges in-class work with out-of-class
experience. Students graduate with an internship experience, various soft skills taught by
leaders of industry, and a solid idea of their own professional development. Combined with
the Business Career Services office, these programs lead students to bright, successful

Sussie Scholarship
Eligibility: High school seniors or current full-time undergrad or grad students. No

Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation
Eligibility: Students 14 years and up and also parents can compete. Scholarship
competitions consist of one or more quizzes with topics ranging from general ―common
knowledge‖ to specific academic subjects, books, websites, and even movies. Scores
are based on a combination of time and accuracy. Five hundred points are awarded for
each correct answer and one point is subtracted for each second it takes to complete a
question. The eligible person with the most points at the end of each scholarship

Compass Mortgage Group Scholarship
Eligibility: Be between the ages of 17 and 24 on December 30, 2014. Student must
possess a GPA of 2.75 or greater and answer the following essay question: “If you
could choose anywhere in the world to buy a house, where would you choose and why?
Please make sure to take into consideration the cost of the house, how much your
mortgage will be, and what job you will have to support the costs of the mortgage and
the rest of your monthly expenses. Please answer the question in under 750 Words. To

The National Wild Turkey Federation's Scholarship
Eligibility: Seniors who have at least a 3.0 GPA and who support the preservation of
the hunting tradition and actively participate in hunting sports. A copy of current
hunting license is required. Students must hold a current NWTF membership, be
involved in school activities, demonstrate ability as a leader among peers, and
demonstrate community leadership and/or involvement. Students must submit an essay

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program
Eligibility: Demonstrate at school, at the workplace, and within the community the

high school senior; and plan to enroll in a full-time course of study toward a bachelor's

Technology Addiction Awareness Scholarship
Eligibility: Purpose of this scholarship is to help students understand the negative
effects of too much screen time. Applicant must be a high school freshman, sophomore,
junior, or senior or a current or entering college or graduate school student of any level.

Missouri Sheriffs’ Association Scholarship
Eligibility: Senior who will be attending a Missouri college or university and will be
pursuing a career in Criminal Justice. Must be in good standing with their school, have

2.0 GPA, and be active in extra-curricular activities. A paragraph detailing the student’s
goals ten years after high school graduation is also required. Applications are available

Grow Ag Leaders Scholarship
This is a new scholarship program that is making rural students aware of the diverse
career opportunities in agriculture. In addition to farming, agriculture offers thousands
of job opportunities in exciting fields like science, technology, business and
communications.
Eligibility: High School senior or currently enrolled in college, less than 23 years of
age, applicant does not have to be a FFA member, must be endorsed by 3 farmers, have
a minimum GPA of 2.5, and be pursuing or intend to pursue a degree related to
agriculture (for a list, see Mrs. Lucas or visit website). Apply online at

James L. and Nellie M. Westlake Scholarship
Eligibility: Seniors or students completing one or two full years at a Missouri
community college and transferring to a four year college. Applicant must have at least
a 2.5 GPA if high school or 2.25 if college, and a family adjusted income of $50,000 or
less with an EFC (expected family contribution) of $7000 or less. Apply at

National FFA Scholarships
Eligibility: High school senior planning to enroll full time in college or currently in
college. Each scholarship has specific criteria that are defined by the sponsor.
Applicants must read the scholarship description in the Scholarship Guidebook to see if
he/she will qualify. Criteria that apply to all scholarships are as follows: Be less than
23 years of age at time of application (Feb. 1), and be current FFA member unless
otherwise stated. There are some scholarships that do not require FFA membership. To

Missouri Conservation Agents Association Scholarship
Eligibility: Missouri resident, U.S. Citizen, pursuing a degree in Biology, Wildlife

study closely related to the preceding subjects. Current and cumulative minimum GPA
of 2.5. Must submit a transcript and 500 word essay telling why they would like the

ESA Foundation Epsilon Sigma Alpha
Epsilon Sigma Alpha International is a philanthropic service organization. The Epsilon
Sigma Alpha Foundation is a non-profit/tax exempt organization which operates
exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. To access these scholarships, visit
http://www.epsilonsigmaalpha.org/scholarships-and-grants. Select ―state of residency‖
from the drop-down box, and then click ―search scholarships‖. There are a total of 43
Missouri scholarships. There is no scholarship application limit. Students may be
awarded more than one scholarship.
Eligibility: Available for 4-year colleges, community colleges, trade schools and
graduate degrees. The age range for recipients is 15 – 55 years old. You do not have to
be a high school senior to apply. Students may apply for as many scholarships as they
meet the criteria, but there is a $5 processing fee for every scholarship. Many of them
have specific requirements to be eligible.

Youth in Agriculture Scholarship
Eligibility: Seniors who have participated in the Missouri State Fair as a youth
exhibitor in the FFA or 4-H divisions. Applicants must be an active 4-H or FFA
member at the time that the scholarship is awarded and must be planning to major in
agriculture at an accredited college. Youth members who have sold livestock in any
past Sale of Champions at the Missouri State Fair are not eligible for this scholarship.

Herff Jones Believe In You Scholarship
Eligibility: Seniors. Go to www.herffjones.com/biuscholarship to begin the
application process. After interested seniors complete the application, the principal will
nominate one student. Criteria for scholarship are GPA, class rank, test scores, honors,
activities on campus and hours/types of community service. Each student is asked to
answer an essay question like: ―Please explain how a person believing in you has had a
positive impact on your success. What did he/she do and how did it help?‖
Award: $2000, $5000, $8500, or $12,000

KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program
Eligibility: Seniors enrolling in a public or university within their state of residence
and pursuing a bachelor’s degree. Must also have a 2.75 GPA and demonstrate

Award: up to $5000 per year and renewable up to four years

Proton OnSite Scholarship
Eligibility: High school senior currently in a U.S. High School and a U.S. citizen.
Selection based on strength of application, demonstrated leadership, work ethic and
community involvement, ability and promise of the idea, and thoroughness and
presentation of the idea. Scholarship can be renewed if student maintains a 3.0 GPA.
Applicants must submit an online application at
http://protonenergyscholarship.com/apply.asp. Applicant must show or tell his/her great
idea for producing hydrogen with water and renewable energy, and how he/she would
use it to solve a real-world problem. In addition to the online application, applicant
must submit five 3-hole punched application packets containing (1) the Proton Energy
Scholarship Program paper application, (2) 3 recommendations, (3) documentation
verifying the year of school, (4) a written essay question, chosen from 4 given in the
packet (there is no required length, but the expectation is that this essay will be multiple
pages) and (5) a 5 minute maximum video essay answering this question: What do you
hope to accomplish in the next 10 years that will evolve the science and technology
realm in the United Stated?
Award: up to $100,000 ($25,000 per year)

DAR Scholarships
Basic Criteria for all: Applicants must be citizens of the U.S. and must attended or
plan to attend an accredited college or university in the U.S. Go to
http://www.dar.org/national-society/scholarships/general-info to download the DAR
application and required financial need form. Mail completed DAR Scholarship
Committee Application forms to the address listed under each scholarship.

 Richard and Elizabeth Dean Scholarship
Eligibility: Graduating high school students. Based on academic merit with an
initial minimum GPA of 4.0. DAR chapter sponsorship is not required.
Award: $5000 (Renewable up to 4 years with a GPA of 3.25)
 Margaret Howard Hamilton Scholarship
Eligibility: Graduating high school senior who is the son or daughter of a
member of the NSDAR.
Award: $2000 (Renewable with a GPA of 3.25)
 Dr. Aura-Lee A. and James Hobbs Pittenger American History Scholarship
Eligibility: Graduating high school student who will pursue an undergraduate
degree with a concentrated study of a minimum of 24 credit hours in American
History and American Government.
Award: $2000 (Renewable with a 3.25 GPA)
 The Lucinda Beneventi Findley History Scholarship
Eligibility: Graduating high school seniors that have demonstrated advance
interest in history and are planning to major in or pursue the study of history in a
full-time accredited college or university in the U.S. GPA of 3.25 required.
Award: $2000
 Caroline E. Holt Nursing Scholarship
Eligibility: Students who are in financial need and are accepted and enrolled
into an accredited school of nursing.
Award: $1000
 Occupational/Physical Therapy Scholarship
Eligibility: Awarded to students who are in financial need and have been
accepted or are attending an accredited school of occupational therapy
(including art, music or physical therapy).
Award: $1000
 Madeline Pickett (Halbert) Cogswell Nursing Scholarship
Eligibility: Awarded to students who are accepted or enrolled in an accredited
school of nursing. Applicants must be members, descendents of members or be
eligible for membership in NSDAR.
Award: $1000
Create-A-Greeting-Card Scholarship
Eligibility: Students 14 years and older in high school or college. If you are a student
with talent in fine arts, graphic design or photography, this is an amazing opportunity
for you. Submit an original photograph, piece of artwork or graphics file for the front
design of a greeting card. You do not need to create an entire greeting card, just the
artwork for the front cover. If you would like, you can incorporate text such as ―Happy
Birthday‖ or ―Season’s Greetings‖ into your artwork. All designs or photographs must
be the original work of the applicant. Contest participants should register on the
www.gallerycollection.com website. Look for the scholarship page on the site and
complete the online application. Judging: Facebook voters will be able to vote once per
day.
Award: $10,000 to winner and $1000 to winner’s school

Sweet and Simple Scholarship:
Eligibility: 13 years or older and be currently enrolled or plan to enroll no later than
fall of 2021 in a post-secondary institution. Must submit a short written response (250
words or less) to: “Not every gift has to be expensive or extravagant. In fact,
sometimes it‟s the sweet and simple things that make a real difference in our lives.”

Project 21 Scholarship
Eligibility: The Missouri Gaming Association’s goal with this scholarship is to educate
youth that it is not permissible in Missouri for persons under age 21 to gamble in a
casino and the dangers and consequences associated with underage gambling.
Applicants may disseminate their message by writing an article or creating a poster or
video addressing the issue of underage gambling. Applicants must be seniors in high

Cargill Global Scholars Program
Eligibility: Must be planning to enroll in one of the following universities: Florida
Agricultural and Mechanical University, Iowa State University, Kansas State
University, Missouri University of Science & Technology, Ohio State University,
Pennsylvania State University, Purdue University, Stanford University, Texas A&M
University – College Station, University of Minnesota, University of Nebraska –
Lincoln, University of North Dakota. Be a first or second year undergraduate student.
Demonstrate high academic performance, and demonstrate leadership potential. Special
consideration will be given to applicants who demonstrate Financial Need, are Female,
Native American, Asian or Pacific Islander, Black, Hispanic, Student with Disabilities,
First Generation College Student, or Veteran. Special consideration will also be given
to applicants who are specializing in one of the following fields: Agriculture Related
Field, Business, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Food Science,
International Relations, Political Science, or Public Policy. Winners will participate in a
fully-funded three day leadership seminar during the first year of the program,
participate in a fully funded Global Leadership Seminar during the second year of the
program, be paired with a Cargill leader who will serve as a mentor, and become a

Project 21 Scholarship
Eligibility: Seniors. Articles, posters, and videos will be reviewed and judged for
originality, content, style and educational value. The focus of the article, poster or
video should be on the topic of deterring young people from engaging in underage
gambling and/or the ramifications associated with underage gambling. The article,
poster or video entry must be accompanied by a Project 21 2015 scholarship

High School Student-Volunteer Community Service Scholarship
Eligibility: Freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible to be nominated if
they meet certain criteria. (1) Be a positive school citizen - demonstrate a caring and
considerate attitude toward others and no discipline referrals, (2) Meet or exceed 50 200 community service hours, depending on your grade level, (3) no payment received
for community service hours, (4) submit 250 word summary regarding educational
value and/or impactful insights that you have realized through volunteering. For

Kansas City Associated Equipment Distributors Scholarship
Eligibility: Seniors who will be attending a vocational/technical school full time, and
pursuing a certificate or associates degree in Diesel Mechanics or Heavy Equipment
Repair. Student must be enrolled for the fall semester for the year in which the
scholarship is awarded. Applicant must have at least a 2.5 GPA or 260 GED. Once the
student has completed the first year of school, they may reapply for the scholarship for
their second year, but must meet all qualifications. Student must maintain a 3.0 GPA at
their vocational/technical school. See Mrs. Lucas for an application.
Award: (4) $1000 renewable awards for a two year period

Frame My Future Scholarship
Eligibility: Seniors planning to attend a U.S. college or university for the 2015-2016
academic year. Students show how they want to ―Frame‖ their future by submitting an
original creative image – photograph, collage, poem, drawing, painting, and more.
Entries are all submitted online only. Judging is based on original entry piece and
accompanying description. Entry must be easy to view and read online. To enter and

The American Legion Scholarships
Basic criteria for all: Resident of Missouri, under age 21, unmarried, and a descendent
of a veteran with at least ninety days active service in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force,
Marines or Coast Guard, who received an Honorable Discharge for such service. A
photocopy of the veteran’s DD 214, discharge or separation notice must accompany the
scholarship application. Any additional requirements for each scholarship are below.

full session of the Department’s Cadet Patrol Academy.

 M.D. “Jack” Murphy Memorial Nurses Training Fund
Eligibility: One award given to a boy or girl training to be a registered nurse, and

Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation
Eligibility: Students 14 years and up and also parents can compete. Scholarship
competitions consist of one or more quizzes with topics ranging from general ―common

ESA Foundation Epsilon Sigma Alpha
Epsilon Sigma Alpha International is a philanthropic service organization. The Epsilon
Sigma Alpha Foundation is a non-profit/tax exempt organization which operates
